Now if Jack can fall into the 2nd round and into our laps, then the draft would be a a+

have to admit. If Jack falls a few more spots to us... it will be interesting.... Raggland is also left... as is Ogbah, Kevin Dodd, Noah Spence, MAlexander, Deion Jones and more....Round 2 should be fun ..... I think we go with Spence but Jack will make it interesting for sure!

I was thinking Spence or Ragland as well, and Bama has two stud D-Linemen, and Cyrus Jones might be a keeper if he falls to the 3rd or 4th round...This is why i think Stanley was the right move, so many solid defensive players that can make a impact this year...

I like how nobody has commented on my quote that only 2 tackles taken in the top 10 of the NFL draft have won Super Bowls in the last 20 years. Sorry, there is no saving the draft unless Ozzie finds the diamond in the ruff that nobody has taken a chance on and he changes the defense.

nobody has commented on it because its a ridiculous statement. It doesn't matter which LTs go to the superbowl. The best LT in the game is Joe Thomas and he has never been close to a Super Bowl. That doesn't make him any less of a player. It just means his team hasn't had a qb to take him into the playoffs.

Well, we may have given Joe say three or four more seconds to throw to whom? Steve Smith? Maybe a lane for our running backs. Not doubting the pick, but it doesn't seem to change our situation. Not worse but not better either. The truth is we need playmakers, defense and offense, and until that is addressed, we are not moving from fifth or lower. He may turn out to be a hall of famer, but that's not going to stop teams like the Bengals from having a field day with our trash secondary or waiting to possibly the fourth quarter to score anything. In that case his talent may be wasted on us.

I had to make an account just to reply to this. I'm from england I'm hardly clued up on this as I've only been following the ravens for 6 years. But with a quick bit of research Russell okung was taken by the seahawks at #6 in the draft and just outside of the top 10 clady was taken by the broncos at #12 so. Just from the last 3 superbowls high pick tackles were playing for the champions.

Edit: mckinnie for us was taken 7th overall...

Considering how RRice destroyed our reputation, there was no freakin way we were going to touch Tunsil,,, and considering what we went through last year with #1 pick being injured the whole year, this was the safest pick that Oz could make.....

They draft Stanley over a Buckner when their main pass rushers are in their 30's and one coming off a serious injury? Mind boggling esp afyer the owner said he wanted a PR. Maybe it's time for some new people in that FO!

Im not a fan of Stanley pick but I understand it. Need of Franchise LT for future.
My problem is STEVE B Screamed and let it be known "PASS RUSHERS"
So Ozzie better get a Noah SPence type Pass rusher at 36, cause Sizzle and Dum are getting OLD! Need cornerstone replacements.. in fact...probably should use picks to trade back inti the 3rd round... that way you get 2 LEGIT Rushers.
1 at 36, 1in the 3rd..like Yannik Ngkoue,Jordan Jenkins

This was a great pick for building a winning team. Some of your guys just don't get it.

Name one game or even 3 to 4 games where a better offensive tackle would have helped us win and get to the playoffs last year??? We went 3-7n with Flacco and 2-4 without. All adds up to 5-11. Offensive tackle was not our problem. We know and everyone else in the league knows it was our defense.

You do realize that the Ravens defense was the second rated defense in the last half of the season, right?

Clady didn't play because he was hurt I think like 6 games into the season and Okung didn't get the nod until another guy got hurt. Good research. So only 1 of the 2 guys you mentioned played on a Super Bowl champion and that was only 8 games, because of an injury, not because he was the better player. Thank you for proving my point.

No, an earlier comment stated that the only two top 10 tackles ever taken to play the entire season and win a super bowl in the last 20 years were Orlando Pace and Jonathan Ogden.

Buckner is overrated. He had 10.5 sacks against marginal college teams. Jernigan is a much better pass rusher. And last I checked, the draft is not over - Myles Jack, Noah Spence, Ogbah, Dodd all still on the board - all as good as or better PR than Buckner.

I don't think any of us picked this. But neither did any of the analysts*, except in the early days before it became apparent two QBs were going off at 1 & 2.

Welcome to the Ravens Ronnie, hope you are our next JO.

edit: lol except Don Banks and Dan Kadar, well done them haha

maybe slightly off topic, but well done the Broncos getting Lynch at 26. Butt-fumble might be carrying the clipboard this year after all

In previous posts I stated that I didn't want the Ravens to select Stanley 6th overall. Of course we didn't know then about just how many off field issues there were for Tunsil, Jack's knee issue, or that the Chargers would take Bosa.

Knowing what we know now I am happy with the pick. Bosa went 3rd, Ramsey went 5th, and Jack's knee must be a serious issue since nobody bit on him in the first round. With Tunsil having such questionable character from everything we have access to, Stanley was the best player available. Some people might say Buckner was the choice to go with but allow me to explain.

First of all, Monroe has been beat up for most of the past two seasons. He might not be healthy this year. Devil's Advocate says for sake of argument he is. Well guess what? You have Rick Wagner at RT in his second year back from a lisfranc injury and he clearly wasn't the same guy last season as he was the year before. We also lost our starting LG to free agency. So he can play day one.

Bucker is an interior D-lineman and his pass rushing skills are a bit questionable. He wouldn't be a replacement for Suggs or Dumervil like another poster has mentioned...because he's not an edge rusher. We also already have guys like Lawrence Guy, Timmy Jernigan, Carl Davis, Brent Urban (if he can stay healthy), and Kapron Lewis-Moore (if he can stay healthy).

If Myles Jack is there at the Ravens pick in the second round, do you take that chance on him? Depending on what the medical is on him I would certainly roll the dice on that move. I know people want us to take a corner, but Jack if he's healthy is a guy we really need.

Just looked up, seeing as you're being very specific of wanting teams that picked in the top 10 and to of won a Superbowl , you say deforest Buckner was the choice we should of gone for. There hasn't been a single defensive end chosen in the top 10 to of won a Superbowl for the past 4 seasons. The closest was Ngata who was taken at 12. Does that mean DE isn't important or is it more the case that teams picking inside the top ten don't tend to win superbowls soon after.

Buckner is also an interior end, not a 3-4 OLB edge rusher. He wouldn't replace Dumervil or Suggs. Buckner's pass rush is in question.

I am probably going way past peoples' information time frame here but:

Anthony Munoz was drafted 3rd overall, is considered to be one of the best left tackles to ever play the game, and is in the Hall of Fame. You know what he isn't?

A superbowl champion. He played in two superbowls for Cincinnati but they lost both he appeared in.

No one player winds a superbowl for you. It is a team effort, but one of the most important pieces to have is a great LT to keep your stud QB on the field so he can pass it to your amazing receivers.

Why did Dallas win so many superbowls during their run? If you look at Aikman's numbers they really weren't that great. But Emmitt Smith could run all day long behind an amazing offensive line.

I can't believe we took a guy who will either be a backup or a left guard in his first year with the sixth overall pick.

The way Monroe is I think Ronnie will be on the bench for maybe the first quarter of the first game next season.  And if it's longer than that well depth isn't a bad thing, and the guy can also play right tackle too and can probably slide in to G.  Not the sexy "playmaker" pick everyone wanted, but good LTs don't "make the news".  The guy has also played every game the last three seasons, that's kind of comforting to me.

OK I'll bite, it's because most of the teams who draft in the top ten stink and keep on stinking and are picking in the top ten every other year, and a good LT isn't going to make them that much better because they haven't got a QB worth protecting in the first place.

That's most teams ... not us.

Yeah, I don't get it. Buckner is a 5-tech DE, which in the Ravens scheme is a run-stopping position. The rush is designed to come from the Leo (Suggs), 3-tech (Jernigan), and Sam (Doom) positions. In fact, for those clamoring that the Ravens needed an "impact play maker" at 6, I'd argue that Buckner's position is the least impactful one in the front 7.

Drafting him that high would be like taking an OG with the 6th pick. Considering how some feel about taking an LT with the pick I find this "we should've taken Buckner" talk quite silly.

If the Ravens want me to get the bad taste off my mouth, make a statement tomorrow Ozzie. Hope Myles Jack slips to us and the Ravens draft him with our second round pick then l want Ozzie to trade back in the second round and draft Noah Spence. Or if Myles Jack doesn't slip to us draft Noah Spence with the second round pick then trade back in the second round and draft Mackensie Alexander then if Jaylon Smith slips in the later rounds draft him then we got three potential good players.
