Id hope my OT isn't very good against the run ?

Why?

SideNote: Judging by the photos, I feel like he's packed on some muscles a little bit, am I being biased or anything?

From the article:

Stanley could probably count the number of snaps he hasn’t taken with the first-team offense on one hand. The Ravens have thrown him into the deep end, and he’s done a good job treading water.

“That just means I’ve got to work and I can’t betray their trust,” Stanley said. “I’ve got to put my best foot forward and show them what I really can do.”

The Ravens turned up the intensity Thursday with goal-line drills. Stanley moved the defensive line backwards, allowing running back Terrance Westicon-article-link.gif to skate through behind him practically untouched on one run. Castillo came running out to give the rookie praise.

Meanwhile, Tunsil got 'some' first team snaps and had a slap fight with a 3rd string guy

Cause I'd hope he could stay on offense and help our ground game produce

LMAO!!!!!

I'll just say this. When your reputable oline coach who has a reputation of being a pain in the butt praises a rookie LT you don't take it with a grain of salt.

Stevie Wonder could see he was the real deal the minute he stepped into the building. Like I said before........smart, athletic and very teachable.

And how about the comparison to Yanda Bear. What a huge compliment!

I Wish for Ronnie Stanley is that some people stop being so Superstitious about him. Even "Yanda Bear" is asking "Isn't he lovely(as a LT)?"

Smart, athletic and teachable ;)

Guys....  Come on...  Regular season is starting.  This stuff can be entertaining, yet distracting...  Can we please keep it clean.

I can't help but feel that a puff piece published on the team site by the team's PR guy with quotes from the team's employees is just a product of the super happy PR machine. Castillo does have a rep for being a tough dude, but he doesn't publicly deride players. PR guys have a lot of control over the message put out by an org's people, so I take these things with a grain of salt. These same people say that Nigel Carr could have been a starter and that Arthur Brown flashes talent.

That being said... even guys from outside the org like Zrebiec and RSR have sang praises on Stanley

You're getting wiser in your old age.  :P

it's definitely too early to know that Stanley is what he is hoped to be, but I think a point to be taken is that there are other advantages to taking the "high character" guys other than just public image. Most that fit the mold are intelligent and also understand the nuances of team work and team building, obviously valuable traits to the overall health of the team.

It may end up that other "questionable character" players that were passed by end up being more valuable in the long run, but basic risk management principles point in the other direction.

In case anyone is curious, PFF went to Ravens practice a couple days ago (maybe a day ago) and they said Ronnie Stanley is locking down the left side. They praised his footwork and poise on the left side and see no issue why he shouldn't be the starting LT and a damn good one.

Real question is how many rookie mistakes will he make? Even the best rookies are prone to them.

I expect him at worse to be steady

Can't be worse than our situation last season. I think Ronnie Stanley wearing a bike helmet and on one leg could beat out Hurst.

he was a total stonewall against starters and he wasnt playing at 100%. not 1 step was taken where you thought the defender had any chance of making the play against stanley, he absolutely neutralized his man on every down, playing on an island.

Nice push in run blocking few times, too. Looked great all around.

Cannot wait for this magisterial nickname.

I heard the original unveiling of it was the catalyst for the original Big Bang.

Yes, it was responsible for the scientific theory of the creation of the universe.

Enjoy your days until week 1. We may exist only in an alternate universe from that day forward.

Until then here's one that seems apt: Stonewall Stanley

Maybe we go with the overused trope of Dancing Bear.

Not only did he display the great pass protection that was advertised, he generated push in the run game. So much for not having the strength. That was arguably the best front 7 in football, albeit only for 1.5 quarters... But he was flawless.

Dont know how the tape is gonna prove Stanley is awful after this one.

One bad game was supposedly enough to write off his career - can't wait to see how a certain someone tries to argue this one great performance is meaningless.

Danny are you OK?, Are you OK Danny? Danny are you Ok? You've been hit by......... Never mind.    Haha

Ron looked good last night, but one pre season game doesn't form a career. Let's wait for some consistent play in meaningful games before we crown him. Have to say though he did look damn good!

Yeah. I'm maybe the biggest Stanley supporter on this forum. But it's a preseason game. To hear he played well is a good thing I need awhile to make a judgment call.
Also, MJ and Stevie? Tank 92.. More like walking talking jukebox :P

Looks like everyone thinks the coffee is bad this morning!  Hold on let me check...

mmmmmm nope, tastes just like it did before the first preseason game!

I didn't get to see the game, but wasn't it preseason?  So you all are telling me no false starts? no holding calls? no sacks let up? and no pressures? Blew his guy off the mark in run blocks too?  If that is true good but against whom and in what situations?

Hmmmm........and four regular season games was not enough time to make an evaluation?........this is interesting!

Ok, I've got the game recorded. I'll break it down with commentary over the weekend, but a quick scan of the box score indicates we weren't in the game while the starters played.

as delusional as i expected it to be.

first you can tell his career will be a total failure within 3 games, but when he plays lights out in his debut(against starters and rotational guys in a top 5 defense), then it means nothing and its just preseason.

then lists everything hes expecting to see stanley fail at when he watches, as if we havent already watched... to answer your questions, no danny, not a single flag  on stanley, didnt give up anything you could even attempt to call pressure, and yes he graded some road in the run game.

a quick scan of the box score seems like the type of thing you start and finish with when talking football, and a quick scan of a box score will never tell you anything. "when the starters played" is seriously a subjective statement, matter of fact i dot think you can even say that at all. no starting qb, butler was the highest wr, closest thing to a starting TE is currently 4th on the depth chart, starting rb out, but sure lets take an individual players performance and make it irrelevant because our offense which fielded less than half of its starters fell behind in a preseason game, because stanleys performance is totally a factor in shareece wright getting outleaped up and down the field while we played vanilla cover 3 with our NT and both OLBs hurt, that damn stanley, what a bust.

What a stupid debate.  First if Stanley struggled last night we know people would dismiss it as just his first game and its preseason so why is it deemed career defining that he did well.

Theres no "I told you so" after one series for anyone.
