Doubt it helps answer your question; but I went to two games in Pitts.

The first was great, my then GF and I sat next to some really cool Steelers fans who chatted us up about the game and football in general.

The other time was ok...had the expected trash talking; which would have been fine if it weren't for the language they used in front of my son.

I'd recommend going; this is a special game that may not happen for a long time, and Steelers fans are for the most part at the very least civil.

I am sure you can expect mild trash talk and some boos as you walk through the parking lot. I've been a season ticket holder for 5 years though, and I've honestly never seen any uprovoked violence or aggressive hostility directed at opposing fans. Most Pittsburgh fans are not inbreds, as seems to be the common perception on this board. I've been to games in Cincinnati and Cleveland and the level of idiocy is unmatched in those two cities. I had a friend actually get hit in the head with a full beer bottle as we walked through the parking lot ON THE WAY INTO the game in Cleveland. I guess losing for 40 straight years will do that to people.

If you, or anyone on the board, has any questions regarding where to eat, drink, etc in Pittsburgh feel free to PM me.

GO STEELERS.

If you have been to Ravens games before and see how we treat away fans, that should give you a good indication as to how you'll be treated up there.

The fanbase in Pittsburgh isn't has hostile as Philly but they (like us) do not enjoy away team fans at their football games. Expect bad language and a lot of trash talking. But you should come out ok "physically"!
I know they have a family section--its the only place with tickets left on ticket master.
Where is this section at? This sounds strange to me.

I never knew there was such thing as a "family section" guess you learn something new everyday!

all it really means is there is no alcohol allowed in those sections. if you want to drink you have to go to the concourse and drink your drinks.

I'm guessing the family section aren't controlled by season ticket holder, and probably run retail if they are bought before the Steelers fans purchase them.

I think a family section is a great idea because I have kids
We have actually found the Steeler fans in Pittsburgh are much nicer then the ones that we see in Baltimore.

The key would be to come in and righht off the bat befriend the people around you. Shake hands, make eye contact wish them luck in what should be a great game.
Certin things go with out saying. You are on THEIR turf, you play by a different set of rules. Wile trash talk is normal and often expected, personal attacks and character slurs will only lead to a beer shower. Or worse.

I rarely have herd of trouble at most away stadiums. I'll bet my bottom dollar that when troulbe does occoure 99.5% of the time it is invited.
