I don't want us to trade back unless the deal includes a future first

Me too! I don't get why everybody thinks that's a good deal. Any other team moving up 9 spots is giving up a crap ton more than a second. Especially to move up to 6. I want a future 1st plus that 2nd

Maybe it's just me, but I don't really understand why people (and especially Mayock) think we would trade back if what is believed to be the #1 prospect in the draft is available.  Sure, you can get extra picks.  But you can also get a top flight talent.  Of course, all of this is moot if we're not high on Tunsil, which is something that's impossbile to know right now.  I just don't see why we'd pass up the #1 pick.  Quality over quantity.  I just think too many people are getting too caught up in the fact that the Ravens have stockpiled in the past.

It's tunsils inability to finish a full season as were moving on from a injury prone LT and coming off a franchise high ir list which included our first round pick last year.

As much as I LOVE tunsil on the field it has been a doubt that has crept into my mind as well.

Myles Jack admitted the knee issues are there and admitted microfracture surgery could be in his future. He said if he played just three years in the league, it'd be above average.

Here is Matt Miller's final mock draft: http://bleacherreport.com/nfl

A couple of takeaways:

Su'a Cravens goes one pick before the Ravens third and Mackenzie Alexander is the second to last pick in the second. He also has Kendall Fuller going in the fourth.

If Cravens was within three or four picks of the Ravens third, I'd have to believe they'd trade up, possibly even for Alexander. I'd also find it hard to believe they'd pass on Kendall Fuller. The ideal draft would be Tunsil-Spence-Trade up for Cravens-Fuller.

Having read Matt Miller's mock draft (see above), I'm going to double down on this trading back idea.  If Jason Springs is really going to be available haflway through the second round, then I don't even want Tunsil at #6.   Obviously we won't know that for sure until tomorrow.  But that 2nd round is crazy.  Surely we can all find more than one guy in there we'd be happy to have.

That's the type of scenario where I think a trade actually makes sense.  If you can move back, still get the guy you want, and pick up extra pick(s), that's a no brainer.

Could have a slim chance to even pick VHIII if we move back that far.

This is a toughie

I guess I would want Floyd (he seems like a Doom replacement), but I think we get Lawson (seems like a Raven pick because of his work-ethic).

Wouldn't be too disappointed either way. Mostly depends what we would get for moving down

Floyd has insane speed and he has some really nice moves, but he is so light and looks like a WR on the field. I just don't know how he would hold up in the NFL. He looks like he needs to live at a KFC or Pizza Hut or an all-you-can-eat buffet to me. The guy is so thin, but his weight isn't all that bad. He just looks like his weight is distributed throughout his body. I'm not sure if he just had bad conditioning coaches or nutritionists or if he simply can't gain weight.

I read two different scouting reports on Lawson:  NFL.com and CBS.   One compared him to Upshaw, the other to McPhee.     Sooo yeah, I think your gut is right that he seems like a Raven.

Lawson to Upshaw is a very unfair comparison. I made the same comparison with minimal film study but if you watch the guy a lot it becomes obvious just how far away he is from Upshaw.

I'm not sure how far of a comparison it is. In a lot of ways he is similar, but there are other ways in which he is not at all the same. Upshaw and Lawson both have high football IQ, and are both strong edge defenders who are built larger than typical OLBs in the 3-4 and are somewhat considered 'tweeners at their position. Both are very good run defenders as well. I don't think Lawson is as good as Upshaw was coming out of college in coverage, and I don't think Upshaw ever had the pass rush moves Lawson has. That said, there are quite a few similarities. They also both ran a similar 40, if my memory serves me right.

We are not trading back to allow Tennessee to take Tunsil. Does not make any sense to me. If at all, I would love for Tennessee to trade with Jacksonville (more likely actually), then take the best defensive player still available, especially if the Chargers go Buckner and the Boys go Elliott! We'll be left to pick from Ramsey, Ramsey and more Ramsey!

If Bosa is there at #6, I don't think Ozzie can do anything else but pick him.

But for me it's Noah Spence in a trade down scenario. Nobody comes even close on my wish list.

I'd be surprised if Lawson is there at 15. I think he goes top-10 or 11, honestly.

Same. He could be a good pick for the Buccs, Giants, Saints, and Raiders. I think the choice for the Ravens would be between Dodd, Floyd, Rankins, Jackson II, or a o-lineman. Then again, I've seen some things go down on draft day, and him having a slight fall due to reaches or whatever wouldn't be that shocking.

Three of these dudes still available after Day 1. Wild to think these were guys we wanted at 15. Happens every year. Hopefully we get one, and then it's double bonus considering we still got our guy at number six beforehand.

Okay.  I was dead wrong about using Tunsil for bait on a trade back.  Dead.   Wrong.

BUT!   Hopefully it's clear now why I wanted another pick in the 2nd.

I want extra picks in the second round every year. Just gotta find a realistic way to acquire them. Titans did trade up, like many thought they would, but they only parted with a third this year and second next year. Not quite the haul everyone here was looking for.
