[News] Late For Work 4/17: Ravens Reportedly Focused On Joey Bosa, Two Other Pass Rushers At No. 6

23 posts in this topic

That could be so misleading when rookies are presented from one side only - citing just the positive/negative stats and facts about a player... Yes, Bosa had a lot of sacks and is a great athlete - but he's never played in a 3-4 D, and also, his sack number decreased as his college career progressed...

... and this could be done with every singly rookie that may fall our way Thursday night. Every rookie has upsides and downsides...

if we could land a pass rusher and either a cb or LT in the 1st 2 rds than i am happy. defense needs help but the o-line could use some depth as well

"Jamarcus Russell tells SI "I'll go play for free" if he gets another chance in the NFL"

Someone should explain to him the concept of "veteran minimum" :D

Somehow I don't think either of the Two Big rookies - Tunsil and Ramsey - fall to us. I still think if Ozzie picks at six, it's gonna be Buckner, Stanley or Bosa.

Dallas is truly the biggest wild card. We know they want to get a beast RB behind that line so that they can make opponents pay, but they also need a pass rusher bad as all of theirs seem to be rotten apples, but at the same time Jerry might say "oh shoot. Ramsey is a track star and said he is like Von Miller, I like Von Miller, so let's get this kid!" Which one will be his pick is the biggest mystery.

Unless we trade back into the top 15, I'll be very disappointed if we ever pick Lawson or Floyd at #6. Why in the world would we ever consider that when Eric clearly states he follows mocks to understand how players are valued by other teams. Surely he knows that there is not a solitary mock out there in the mockosphere that selects either of these two guys in the top 7 or 8 for that matter. Why then would we select them by leaving a lot of draft capital on the table?? Not going to happen period.

Great assessment...I agree with you

Steve Bisciotti- "I am telling you now Ozzie, don't get cute, we want a pass rusher and need one so you better select BPRA!" lol it could happen, but I highly doubt this is nearly true. I think Lawson is a top 10 pick and an ideal trade back candidate that could get us an extra pick to use to move back up for a corner.

Ronnie Stanley over Tunsil? I'd be open to it if we taped dumbbells to his hands at the castle and made him dedicate his time in the weight room. I like Stanley as a very gifted pass protector, but he needs to get mean and add strength to get push in the run game. Watch the video above and see the demeanor of KO and how he attacked the defense. We need another mauler on the line that can also erase pass rushers from the stat sheet.

If you really need a pass rusher, go after Spence in the 2nd round or move up. Do not select Shaq Lawson or Leonard Floyd with the 6th pick man.

I doubt Spence makes it out of the first

Ramsey is by far at the top of my wish list. I don't believe he'll slide to #6, but if he does, Ozzie might stiff arm someone turning in that pick.
My nightmare pick at #6 is Deforest Buckner. I saw him get dominated by Jack Conklin (Michigan St.) in their one on one match ups. Besides drawing a few double teams Buckner was a nonfactor against a decent college level LT. How does that translate to him being worthy of a top ten overall pick, when the tackle that whooped him all day long could slide into the 2nd round? Buckner is way overrated in my view.
Furthermore, it is my opinion that Buckner quit mentally. His effort seemed to drop off against offensive linemen that could match up physically with him. If my opinion is correct and he did in fact quit, or took some plays off then he's NOT a Raven...PERIOD

A couple of legit pass rushers who will be available after Bosa is off of the board:
Noah Spence and Leonard Floydd are other 1st rounders

Darron Lee - OLB - Ohio State 6'1 232 4.46 is probably also a 1st rounder who would be tempting with that speed.

Aaron Wallace of UCLA probably a 2nd or even a 3rd rounder... 6'2 242 4.59 has a great combo of size and speed

Travis Feeney - OLB- Wash 6'4 235 4.41 is one that I really like and if it were not for some injuries -feeney would be a 1st round pick.. this guys is a freak of nature and maybe THE best under the radar pass rusher... (we can take him in the 4th round).

Jaylon Smith -LB-ND...would be a top ten pick but will not play this year due to injury... so should be available with a 3rd or 4th round pick

Emanueal Ogbah -DE-OKST @ 6'4 273 and running a 4.56...he could be the next Suggs

Obviously Shaq Lawson out of Clemson a little later in round 1 but I really like his counter part at Clemson in Kevin Dodd (who should be available around rd 2).
Deforrest Buckner out of Oregon is another obvious pick in rd 1 but Carl Nassib out of Penn State is 6'7 282 and runs a 4.73.... He may be available in te 3rd or 4th round.
Bronson Kafusi- DE-BYU 6'6 285 4.81...is an interesting 3rd or 4th round pick.

Stephen Weatherby- DE- Vanderbilt.... one I also really like at 6'4 267 4.53 is looks like he is ready to step in and contribute now. (we should be able to land him in the 3rd or 4th round)

I guess what I am saying is that there is a ton of depth in the passing rushing dept. in this years draft. If Tunsil or Ramsey are there.... I say we take one of them(pass on Bosa) and look to load up with pass rushers with our bevy of picks through rounds 3 and 4. (5 picks). This draft is strong in our areas of need!

I really would like to see the Ravens draft Noah Spence. There is nothing better than a truly motivated player and Spence is really MOTIVATED.

If we stay with the 6th pick, I trust they'll make the right decision.  So far, their track record is awesome when picking in the top 10.

One more day.

I'm hoping Tunsil or Ramsey falls to us at 6, and then we trade some of those 4ths to move up from our 2nd round pick into the latter part of the 1st and take Noah Spence. Call it a day.

Essentially if Noah Spence is our second pick after anyone in the first, I consider the draft a Home Run. He is one of the most gifted in this draft easily.
