Wonder who we go after with this 6.5 mil now, trade possibilities?

Doubt it.  If it is spent, expect it to go towards an extension for say, Williams or Tucker.

We have just under $14 million in cap space, but that doesn't do you much good when it's June 15th. Funny the one time we have a lot of money.

Certainly does a lot for locking up Brandon Williams or Ricky Wagner

Maybe both - Wagner's probably cheapish. Right tackles don't cost a whole lot. If Bryan Bulaga is only making 5 years 34 million, Wagner won't be more than 35 - in my opinion.

But then there's the question of whether we even want to re-sign him. Right tackles are replaceable, and Alex Lewis might be his replacement.

Apparently what held up the trade was that the giants and Monroe couldn't agree on a contract.

Rather have the depth tbh.

I think it was a bit petty how we treated him even though he was on the way out, hopefully this move doesn't come back to haunt us.

Now he has all the free time in the world to spam people about the wonders of weed

That must've been what made he contract talks fall through. Didn't get free weed

I know it's taboo on this forum to mention Harbaugh and character concerns, but I really hope this isn't along the lines of these two not seeing eye to eye and Harbs winning with the popularity vote....

You can hope that (I don't think it is that) and I'm sure Mike Preston might weasel a 'Harbs doesn't like strong personalities' jab whenever he decides to write a column but... Steve Smith Sr basically negates that argument. Or I could be misinterpreting what you're saying.

Thanks man. That's interesting to me. Not sure why we wanted him to gain weight, he didn't really struggle with strong DEs. Shrug.

Maybe they thought he could stay healthier that way?

Apparently Juan Castillo is super high on De'Ondre Wesley as a replacement

2.2 this year + 4.4 next yr for an empty space

And the 6.5 this year would roll over

I don't believe Brandon will allow himself to be locked up considering what the Eagles guy got. He'll wait to test free agency and bolt for the biggest buck out there. I think they use the extra space to lock up Tucker and maybe Wagner.

Maybe - more meat on his bones might make him more durable.

I've heard that before but I forget from where. I didn't see enough of Wesley to get a good feel for him. From what I've read he's a size/strength prospect with poor technique.

Coaches always overhype camp bodies, do we ever develop these guys into good players?

BWill won't get anything near what Fletcher Cox got. He's gonna be shooting for more than Damon Harrison.
