Late Round Steals

29 posts in this topic

I could not see a thread yet on some late round steals and with the draft 8 days away I know we talk a lot about the top guys but a lot of the times the 5th, 6th, and 7th round picks becoming starters make Super Bowl teams.

My choice in the 7th round is Daniel Braverman from Western Michigan. He has all the tools to be a successful player in the slot in the NFL. Probably will never be your first option receiver that gets 1200 yards a season, but he can play that Wes Welker/Edelman slot role. It would be nice for the Ravens to pick him up with pick 209 (Sixth round comp) to challenge Campanaro. It will also probably take Braverman a season or two before being able to play in the NFL. It seemed like we were a lot more dangerous with Campanaro in games when he has stayed healthy which hasn't been many games.

Antonio Glover, S, Georgia Southern

He's good in coverage, has great field awareness and football IQ, and can play in the box or as a deep safety.  I'm not saying he'll be a superstar, but I had him ranked as a solid and dependable starter, which is a big deal at S.  He'd be talked about a lot more if he went to a bigger school than Georgia Southern.

Jakeem Grant WR Texas Tech

The guy is only 5'5/5'6 170lbs that was said to run a 4.10-4.3 on his proday.  The guy is insanely fast and has the moves to go with it.  I would love to get him as a return specialist and he could easily be worked in the receiving game or even in the run game.  A lot like Tavon Austin but I think he looks even faster.  I have no clue where he will be drafted

First time I have watched him... 5'7 and 177 pounds. If he holds up in the NFL he would be a great athletic talent. He could be a slot guy and a deep threat. I'm excited to see where he falls on draft day. I have a feeling he may go earlier than 5th because of his speed because speed makes players rise a lot in the draft. I wouldn't be surprised if someone like us took a risk with a late 4th round comp pick if he is still there. Him, Perriman, and Wallace on the field would be insane speed.

Yea, I will be watching him for sure, but I don't see us taking a chance on him.  I really think we should though, we need those dynamic playmakers, he seems to have good vision as well.  Jacoby made such a huge difference for us, I could see this could doing the same.

I agree they run differently but he has great vision and times his cuts well and his break away speed is insane and looks like he isn't even trying sometimes returning the ball. Our special teams may be near the top right now with Tucker and Koch but I think having him would add that scare into opposing teams knowing we can return the ball. It feels like we have not had that since Jacoby left. With the change in the touchback rule I see him breaking for some touchdowns. He may be the Tyler Lockett of this draft.

I believe Braverman goes well before round seven(or 6). I would take him in the fourth round for the reasons you expressed.

Austin Blythe is a guy who will be a quality center and  I think will be available late. DJ Reader could fall to the 5th/6th and be a steal.

Jakeem Grant.

I was watching Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks talk about the draft and Daniel Jeremiah said he thinks Braverman would be the best pick in round 6. I do not think he goes higher than the 5th because of him not being a complete wide receiver and at best he will most likely be a return man and a 3rd or 4th receiver on a depth chart. But I guess you never know until draft day and when the players step onto the field.

RB Keith Marshall,,

UGA is known for their RB's

this guy played as a starter in front of todd gurly

but an injury and gurly took off,

I have always been a fan, honestly he will make us better

he will start by week 3

I was thinking the same thing.  I don't know if he's still under the radar enough to be a steal.  but even in the back of the fourth I think he'll be great value.

My favorite sleeper is DE/OLB Tyrone Holmes, I've only seen him in in two games but he's a gamewrecker.

Not much tape but I agree. He definitely has traits you want to see in an edge rusher. Another guy is Victor Ochi who has a tremendous get off.

Love to see us take both in round four.

Ochi is the closest prospect I've seen to James Harrison, very similar style.

Ridgeway has as much skill as the top 5 tackles outside of Nkemdiche.. pro coaching he could be a steal. He was advised to return to School and be a round pick in the next draft but he is better off getting pro level coaching and committing to pro football game.

Rashawn Scott, WR, Miami. Tough, physical receiver who ran faster than I thought he would. Not a #1 guy by any means, but could develop into a solid #2 receiver. Had a good good game against our beloved Jalen Ramsey. Had some off the field issues earlier in his time at UM, but nothing major. Solid hands, but I don't know what was going on in the bowl game against Washington State. I was right about Allen Hurns, and I feel good about some team getting a solid player in Scott.

He really improved his anchor over 2014, he used to get blown off the ball a lot. I think disengaging when rushing his biggest issue, that and his injuries.

He flashes #1 traits, but then he has a reputation for being injury prone and a high drop rate.

I'll put Malcolm Mitchell in the conversation. Had it not been for injuries, he would be a 2nd/3rd round guy. He's the best YAC receiver I've seen in this draft, he's incredibly hard to tackle.

That 405 pound TE from Baylor he would be a beast and steal if moved to Guard or Tackle I put my money on it.

Josh Ferguson, RB from Illinois. He's simply amazing in the open field. Could be a great punt returner and back to Allen as the third down running back.

Ochi is a good one but I think the pass rushers will go earlier this year with how the superbowl ended up.

-I like the WR Mike Thomas from Miss

-I also like DeAndre Houston Carson but he's on the rise lately. Was a 5-6th round pick earlier now I see some people have him late 3th early 4th.

-I really like Tavon Young but I think he ends up in the 4th with one of our comp pick.I really see him in the Ravens unifom

-Adam Gotsis, will end up like in the 4th... but he's a very SOLID NFL Starter. Could go as high as late 2nd.

-Romeo Okwara (late rounds or undrafted)... with proper coaching could be good. fluid in his mouvements but bad technique.

-Antonio Morrisson... talented player. Injuries a lot. maybe end up in the 6th round..

- Nick Vigil.... I think some teams will give him his shot sooner than later... late 4th something like that with the new style of players

- Nate Sudfield, Jacoby Brissett..... love them 2 as back up roles for 3 years.

- Seumalo, if he ends up after the 5th round he's a STEAL. I think he could go as high as early 3rd

- Temarrick Hemingway TE, beat the odds every time... nice project in the 6th rounds

- OT Pearce Slater... nice project could be Guard/Right Tackle. Needs coaching a LOT but athetic and size specimen

My go-to sleeper for this entire process isn't much of a sleeper anymore with some having him going as high as the 3rd - Ronald Blair / DE/OLB / App State - guy uses his hands so well and is an instant boost as a pass rusher. He's also very good in run D.

Another few guys that I've started liking a bit more as of late are Elandon Roberts / ILB / Houston, Myke Tavarres / ILB / Incarnate Word (formerly Arkansas), and David Perkins / DE/OLB / Illinois State (formerly Ohio State)

Nate Studfield compares to a poor mans Big Ben... Nick Vigil is a monster, if we get him i'd be really happy..

You have to keep him clean, although it's not a big issue if we're transitioning to 4-3..

Jacoby Brissett is the best sleeper in the QB class, if he improves and trends upwards he has starting ability.
