This is a no risk move with a possible huge benefit for the team. Being from Bama had to play a role in this move but if any GM can convince Richardson to step up and return to form he can. He was a beast in college. If he can get that back the running game just improved a LOT.

Agreed. But with how many injuries lately they may decide to keep 4 again. It may just be wishful thinking cause I just like Taliaferro a lot and wanna see him on the roster and healthy.

I think 4 is a possibility, but with the large group of receivers we have I think 3 is more likely. My guess is that Taliaferro is probably the favorite to win that 3rd spot. Never know if they'll add a rookie to the mix though, and if it's a guy with ST/return ability, then I could see them keeping 4.

They never keep 4 active, they'll keep three on the active roster and try to keep another one on the shuttle (practice squad) which is where Terrence McGee lived last season.

This will be an interesting story to watch unfold through training camp. There will be no shortage of competition and this is before draft. You never know who will fall to you when taking BPA.

I don't like this signing. Ravens already have to split touches between Foresett, Allen, West? and LT. Add Richardson and young guys you drafted get even less touches. Richardson probably will not play special teams so he's just a short yard option. No matter how small the contract is there are other places to spend money to make an impact.

Trent Richardson is 25. He was star at Alabama and 3rd overall pick. LT is more injured than not and played at East Coast Carolina. Please there is no comparison. If he plays like his rookie year or like he did at Alabama it is a win win for the Ravens. It isn't a lot of money we are paying him and there are no guarantees he makes the team. What if Derrick Henry is there in the 2nd?

Richardson did nothing in Cleveland or Indy. He is available for a reason. Pour money down the drain. And if you are talking about often injured players include Campanero, Webb, Monroe at better position to upgrade than RB which you are already 4 deep.

In do not know how anybody could think he is going to be a good runner. He has averages 3 yards a run last 4 yrs. He is terrible!! He is going to be camp fodder!!

Best-case scenario: he turns it around and becomes a solid RB
Worst-case scenario: he is cut for no financial loss as they whittle-down to 53, pushing the other RBs to try harder in the process

There is a comparison, because LT has played a lot better even though he has had less carries. Richardson has averaged about 3 yards a carry in the league since he has entered. That is far from average. His rookie year was not a good year as a RB in the NFL. If you can't reach 1000 yards in 16 games, heck even 14, then you had a bad year. And its not like the Browns have had a terrible OL, he just wasn't getting it done. Now, can he turn it around? of course. Especially here and I hope he does. He is only 25 and 220 pounds.

You have to understand how the game works. This isn't an upgrade. This is can he turn into something big for little to nothing. His contract has NO guarantees and who said his spot was secured? He could be gone before the season starts. How many players did we sign last year to try them out to see if they were players that we wanted to keep? Every smart team does it. If he doesn't work his way on the field he'll be be cut because he's not a practice squad player. Unless he chooses to be. This is a low risk, high reward type thing.
