it is all on him now. either he becomes a productive member of the offense or he gets released. not costing them much financially.

This is a great sign, if Trent is in shape and commited as he appears to be this could be huge signing. I wanted Elliot but if Trent is right this could be awesome!

I hope he gets back on track here!

Cut West. Keep the rest.

Gotta think Taliaferro, West, and Richardson are all fighting for one spot. I think Forsett and Allen are locks while Taliaferro, West, and Richardson all play really similarly.

Agreed. But with how many injuries lately they may decide to keep 4 again. It may just be wishful thinking cause I just like Taliaferro a lot and wanna see him on the roster and healthy.

This is a good kick the tires move and I hope it works out for Trent, welcome to Baltimore. I think Forsett is coming into camp the #1, Buck Allen has dibs on #2, and if Taliaferro is healthy he's the #3. The 4th RB battle will be between West (who is also shedding weight) and Trent with the chance that they become the #3 and #4 and Taliaferro gets bumped out of a job. Anything can happen with injuries and of course the draft, but this is what I think is the pecking order. West and Trent are on the outside looking in.

But he's not the only guy that got a deal done today:

WR: Kamar Aiken signed his RFA tender for roughly $2.5 million.
WR: Jeremy Butler signed his ERFA tender.
OL: Ryan Jensen signed his ERFA tender.
WR/KR/PR: Kaelin Clay signed his ERFA tender.

Nice to know we got our depth in house. Clay is our best return man right now.

Another low risk gamble by Ozzie that could pay off big. Time will tell. It would seem to pretty well rule out signing Elliot, however.

Zero risk - potential reward kind of signing. I just wish him well and hope he can resurrect his career with the Baltimore Ravens. I don't think there is another franchise that can give him the 360 support that the Ravens can provide him.

does he count against the compensatory picks?

No, he is a street free agent. I don't even think he was on anyone's roster at the end of 2015.

Ozzie showing his fondness for his alma mater once again...no risk signing however, and the guy just might revert back to the player he was in college. I hope he takes full advantage of the chance the Raven's are giving him. Good luck Mr. Richardson, prove the doubters wrong.

There was a zero percent chance we would draft Elliot anyway.

I honestly can see him being the #2 back by the end of the season. He has potential. Heck he may have enough to start. I wouldn't be surprised if we did a 2008-2009 roster flip at the running back position all over again. Last year was Forsett, Allen Taliaferro... What about Trent Richardson, Allen, Forsett? The most likely if anything changes I could see a Allen, Richardson, Forsett backfield. I really think we hit the nail on the head with Allen last season and I bet he continues to grow.

I think 4 is a possibility, but with the large group of receivers we have I think 3 is more likely. My guess is that Taliaferro is probably the favorite to win that 3rd spot. Never know if they'll add a rookie to the mix though, and if it's a guy with ST/return ability, then I could see them keeping 4.

I'm pretty encouraged by this. No risk/high reward deal. He is also a very good receiver. I bet Trestman can get something out of him and he won't be the only back and get worn down. Let's see how this plays out. If he really is motivated the sky is the limit. When he was doing well he looked like a bigger, faster, stronger Ray Rice.

Throwing darts blind folded and with your eyes closed and you wonder why their 5-11.

The Redskins are right down the road.
Go check them out.

Obviously the Ravens are not satisfied with anyone behind Forsett and this guy comes cheap. Of course you take into account he was once drafted by Cleveland, who is even worse than the Ravens at high draft picks. He has done nothing since his rookie year, but, hey, if he costs virtually nothing, then why not? I hope they have made it clear that they will take no crap from him and he better keep his nose clean, otherwise, the boot, which will probably be his last.

Haters gonna hate. Where is the downside in bringing in a guy who was once a top prospect? Maybe Richardson just needs to be with a class organization that's committed to winning. We don't lose anything by signing him. Absolutely no risk and a possible reward.

And we were 5-11 last year because of multiple injuries,a brutal schedule and, yes, some poor drafting the last few years...not because we signed some guy that could still have some potential.

Stop talking about Babin like that.  LOL

Richardson is the most talented RB in our backfield right now. He has all of the raw ability and could really learn from a journeyman like Forsett who didn't take the easy path to success in this league. If Richardson is motivated (and I think he is) and willing to learn... I think the 2nd half of the season we will see great things from him... he may be that lump of coal that just needed enough pressure and re-finning to turn him into a diamond!

IDK about that! Ravens philosophy is Best Man Available.... and depending on how the cards fall... Zeke could easily be the BMA.... (and we have stuck to this philosophy in the past in spite of having bigger needs elsewhere). I would not be shocked if we took Zeke.... if he truly is the BMA at the time!

We can't possibly know that for a fact, can we?

This is a good low risk, high reward signing. If this dude plays to his potential then we got a steal (even though the details of the deal aren't out yet, I doubt we overpaid). There's definitely no shortage of talent in the backfield right now.

The two most likely scenarios are that either he will bust and not make the roster... or he will excel and become the starter in short order.  Let's hope for the latter.
