1 and only Mock draft

6 posts in this topic

Only mock of the year.

Dream draft- I See us using QB needy teams to grab an extra pick and still get our player.

Round 1

1-rams-Wentz

2-Browns-Bosa ( it's the browns- I am not big on Bosa)
3-Chargers-Ramsey (he is gonna be a stud)
4-Cowboys-Ezekiel elliliot- JJ gets his RB of the future.
5-Jags-Tunsil ( best player in draft)

-------Trade-----

6-Eagles-Goff. ( eagles trade up 2 spots to get their QB goff before 49ners get him).  We get their 3rd round 14th pick.  We do this as we have equal value on Myles and Buckner.
7- 49ners- Buckner.  They are concerned about Myles knee and take DL stud

8-ravens- Myles get 3rd 14
Get our ILB to pair with Mosley.  Our LB's this year are scary ( Suggs-Myles-Mosley-dumervil)

2nd
5-Cody whitehair OG/OT Kansas state

not an explosive pick but a versatile OL that fits our zone blocking scheme.  Plug and play to replace KO

3rd
7-Jaylon smith
Falls bc of knee injury and will be out until 2017.  Can take this risk as got free 3rd round from eagles from trade as stated above
Imagine in 2017-smith, Myles, Mosley

14-Willie Henry DE/DT michigan
Late bloomer.  Athletic DL who could become stud.  Rotational player to start and then full time starter along side tommy and Williams by the end if the season.

4th
Cyrus jones cb Bama
Homeboy who helps improve CB depth

Sheldon day DT ND
I am unsure if KLM or Urban will be able to stay healthy. He falls bc of size and no real position.  He offers good rotational value and inside pass rush potential.  (DL depth is pretty good: Williams-tommy-Henry-Davis-guy-day) match that with our LBs as seen above and we have our intimidating front 7 again.

Malcolm Mitchell wr Georgia
Would love to get my favorite wr Shepard-Oklahoma but he is long gone by end 2nd.  Mitchell offers slot value to replace  camp who is unfortunately is made of glass

Willie beavers OT western mich
Good potential.  Work/mature with our OL coaching and he could have potential

James bradberry cb samford
Big developmental CB.

Kevin hogan QB Stanford
Back up QB. We do not need to overpay for backup QBs just draft and nurture alone like tyrod

so after taking myles jack, you take jaylon smith. where does jaylon smith play if he ever returns from his injury? with that injury he isnt packing on any weight to play OLB and surviving, myles jack is far superior in run and pass defense and mosley is the commander in the middle and is too valuable an asset playing in traffic to swap him out for jaylon smith who absolutely is unable to hold up in traffic.

Probably put Jack at WLB, Mosley at MLB, & Smith at SLB in the 4-3.

So with our first four picks we don't even address one of CB, OLB, LT or WR? I can't see that happening.

Unfortunately the league has changed and currently it is more about quick passes and bubble screens than smash mouth/run down your throat football ( I miss that type of football) .  Look at our LB's over the past 2-3 years we can't cover TE's and we do not fair well with quick passes.  The nfl is moving to smaller quicker LB who can cover and create pressure.

As grim eluded to smith-Mosley-Myles would be a pretty nasty 2017 4-3 linebacker starting lineup.  4-3 maybe what we need to change to when Doom and Suggs can't do it anymore ( possibly in 2017 or 2018).   I say this as we have to evolve our Defensive mindset to keep up with the evolving play of the nfl or else we will be picking at the top of the draft for a long time to come.

I think Smith in the third is too early for a player we get nothing from this year,  maybe nothing next year... And just drafted Jack.
