[News] Byrne Identity: Intense Draft Meetings This Week

So..... the Eagles were in discussions of trading up to the number one pick??? And the Cowboys (Jerry is going) are headed to Berkeley this weekend to see Goff. Hence, 2 Quarterbacks will be taken in the top four picks. Thus, guaranteeing the Ravens, one of the top 4 defensive players or OT Tunsil.

I just want us to draft a ILBer, and DE/OLBer in the first two rounds, that is where we are weak as far as depth....

I guess that was a argument worth having Urschel or Jensen could be our new starting LG next season. I'm wondering if they will draft a wr with one of those 4's? I would be happy to see Sterling Shepard or Braxton Miller in that 3rd-4th rd range. They both just flat out made plays in college. Shepard with the playmaking ability, route running, and size reminds me of a young Steve Smith. Miller reminds me of a faster Anquan Boldin. We can not continue to count on Campanaro, Butler and Brown(not to discredit Butler/Brown contributions) But we need to groom one of these guys at least a year with Steve Smith to understand what a successful NFL wr is. Mike Wallace is pretty much on a one year trial, Perriman will be a rookie on the field, and Aiken did well when everyone went down.

Thanks for the insights into our draft room and the players that make it up. I'm curious about how long the coaches have been so actively involved with our draft process though. I think our drafting kind of plateaued starting 2009. I don't know how many pro bowlers we drafted but I know it isn't a whole lot of them. Is the over involvement of coaches on player recruitment a blessing or a hindrance? That is not a question I can answer but surely the powers that be need to look at that aspect as well. There surely must be variables out there that contributed to our ho hum drafts over the past few years, but we didn't pick in the top 10 either....

Pro Bowl players don't really tell how good your draft is. Lots of pro bowl players are on losing teams, or teams that throw a lot. Plus a lot of pro bowl players land in Hawaii based on reputation. Some WR get there cuz their team has a great QB or great line. Some pro bowl players are in the right circumstance like a running back with a great line or DBs with great pass rushers.

Would love to land Sheppard!!! He won't last until the 4th round ,though. Not a huge fan of Miller's. He just recently switched to wr. we need a quality Wr, with 200 college catches.

I completely agree about the Browns. But, if they decide other, the Eagles (through trade) or Dallas will jump on Goff.

I acknowledge your opinion but I am going to stick to mine.

I swear, they tell these types of insider draft stories every year in the week or two before the draft, and it works every time to get me excited! I can't get enough of these draft room stores. To be a fly on the wall...

2 weeks... Draft cant get here soon enough..

Man the Dream Scenario of Ramsey,Jack being at 6 is getting better odds day by day. Bosa too.
Qbs likely 99% chance 1,2..Tunsil going 3 to Chargers who need OL help...then just hope either another trade happens for Qb..to guarantee Ravens get Ramsey/Jack..
Or just settle for whatever 1 falls to 6..
But man.. I cant wait

These are all rumours - and we know well that rumours before the draft are usually more smokescreen than truth...

Tunsil, Ramsey, Bosa, Buckner or Jack would be great.  I just hope that Jack is able to make it through training camp if we take him.  I'm excited to see how it plays out.

Well, these are nice stories, but the fact remains that Oz & Co need to do a lot better than they have in recent years. They've got the picks, and the draft position, so let's get it done.

Once again can I say "screw the NFL". They treat us like a third rate team which
is crap. Just look at last years schedule.

You can't fix stupid, right?

Whatever idiot "stood on the table" recently and convinced the Ravens to draft good for nothing Elam and a wide receiver last year, Perriman, should be out the door. Elam stinks. Tired of the excuses being made for his poor play, and Perriman, the guy who for a middle college was a pass dropper. My God, what were they thinking? If they blow this one, all of them should be fired. A dog could make better choices than the Ravens did with those terrible wasted high picks.

You are absolutely right. Terrible wasted high round picks over the last 5 or 6 years have decimated the once proud Ravens defense. Only Mosley and Williams show promise and have delivered. Ozzie better get his head out of his behind and stop with the wide receiver garbage.

I hope if the group agrees on lets say the top 50 guys, they dont stop watching film on these guys. Personally, I think you need to max out on film study, real game reps over the combine and recent Senior bowl games and what not. You may find something in deep film study, say last 20 games, over recent snippets
