[News] How Rams' Trade For No. 1 Pick Helps Ravens' Draft

91 posts in this topic

And even if the Browns don't like what is left between Goff and Wentz, perhaps some other team does value that choice more and will trade up to get that player?

I don't care how it happens, but if 2 QB's go before the Ravens pick at #6 I bet I am not the only happy camper in Ravens Land.

We'll have the option of having two players out of Ramsey,Bosa,Jack and Buckner and we'll be within trading distance if we really want Bosa or Ramsey(even though Biscotti ruled out trading up this changes things). Our defense is about to get a SUPERSTAR!

After the news of the trade, I was hoping this draft went, QB, QB, OT.  After reading that SD gave King Dunlap a $28M deal in 2015, I don't know if they go w/ Tunsil with their 3rd.  Ramsey still would be a good fit for the Rams to replace Weddle. If that happens, we would have a great chance of getting Tunsil.  Dallas wouldn't take him and Jax is crap shoot. Good things happening w/ this trade.

Dumbest trade ever....Titans get the their 1st two 2nd rounders and a 3rd, and next years 1st and 2nd round.....Titans should be charged for stealing....Sorry no player in this years draft has that kind of star power to give up so much....

I can't believe that the Rams traded that far up to get their guy. All the talk that the QBs in the draft aren't worthy of top 5 overall selection isn't being bought into by teams that desperately need a QB. Of course, we still don't know for sure what the Browns are going to do.

This is clearly great news. If the Browns do go for a QB, I think this most likely pushes Jack or Bosa to us instead of leaving only Butler from that group. I have the sense people aren't viewing Buckner in the same tier, but at least that gives us a choice.

Turning back to the article from Eisenberg about fans being disappointed by a non-sexy pick of LT if we were to pick Stanley ... I think was wrong in that it wasn't the position that concerned us - it was the player. If we get Tunsil with the scenario you describe, I think the vast majority of Ravens fans will be fine with that.

I'm now very optimistic that Laremy Tunsil will be our #6 choice! I believe the draft may go thus if the Browns have really become smarter with Hue Jackson.
1. Wentz
2. Goff
3. Ramsey
4. Jack
5. Bosa/Buckner
6. Laremy Tunsil!!!!

I hope Tunsil is as good as they claim, the last few drafts all the tackles drafted in the first round have been pretty meh, if you go back the last 4 drafts there has been 18 tackles drafted in the first round, the only decent ones are lane johnson, riley reiff and zack martin, the rest have been pretty underwhelming.

Even if two QB's go before our pick, I still think it's a long shot to land Tunsil or Ramsey, but not as improbable as it was...even so, we will at least be able to get a top tier defensive player, so i'm happy.

I also could still see us trading back, as someone may want to jump ahead of SF to grab a QB...or SF could try to move up a few spots...hard to say with teams so desperate for what I consider a sub-par QB class.

1. I definitely can't see SD passing on Tunsil...they are certainly in the market for LT help.

2. I also don't think he'd make it past Jacksonville at #5, who could also use an upgrade there.

Bosa or Buckner. The D/LB core is getting long in the tooth and must be replaced in short order. Elvis/Terrell may have one good season left......may have!

Issue I have with this...

1. I don't believe that we are really even that interested in Buckner.

2. Buckner isn't a pure pass rusher and definitely wouldn't be playing OLB, so he wouldn't be a replacement for Doom/Suggs.

Bosa is the only one that has the potential to fit that mold.

My money is still on our pick at 6 (if we stay there) being either Bosa, Jack, or Hargreaves.

Ok, so I don't follow college football so could the board please enlighten me as to who is actually deserving of our #6? All the I keep hearing about Bosa is that he has a high motor. Does he also possess run stuffing and coverage skills like Suggs or he he a one trick pony? Can he play 3 downs? I also hear that Buckner is a faster version of Ngata. Is he really that much of a force? A one man wrecking crew? Tunsil seems to be a lock as a starter. Is he ready? Sounds like Jack has not played that much and missed last season. Is he more potential than substance? Ramsey is all people talk about but I've read that Hargraves is a better CB if we want to go that direction. Hargraves apparently couldn't handle elite receivers. That's mostly what the NFL has so is this an issue?

As is with every draft, there's so such thing as a "sure thing". Every player we will take or consider taking has pros and cons.

In my opinion, the "hierarchy" of who we would want would probably rank like this:

1. Tunsil

2. Ramsey

3. Bosa

4. Jack

5. Hargreaves

6. Buckner

I'm not as convinced as many others that Buckner is a serious consideration for us at #6. Most people (myself included) also think that Tunsil and Ramsey will be selected before we pick. My focus is on #s 3-5 above. That's where I would lean currently.

Grrrreat news! lol... Thanks Rams!...if Cleveland goes QB too...that is so awesome. We should go Ramsey, Tunsil, Bosa, Jack...in that order to pick from. Can't lose there. Buckner is last of the five in my mind...cuz I'm not high on a Chris Canty 2.0 but I'll take it if we have to.

This development actually hurts the Ravens draft outlook in my opinion. We were poised to have far more flexibility if one of the top two QBs had slid to our spot at #6. I think in either scenario Tunsil, Ramsay and Jack will be gone and we will most likely still be choosing between Buckner and Bosa, neither of which I am crazy about having a huge impact on our team right away.
If your looking at Buckner or Bosa it wouldn't have been a big deal for us to move from #6 to #15 really. Just imagine if Goff or Wentz was still there at #6 what the Rams would have given us. I think we could have moved to #15 and picked up at least the Rams #2 and #3 this year, probably not the 2017 picks they gave the Titans. Shame.

I am just grateful we don't have a team that would ever think of trading a 1st,two 2nds and a 3rd, and next year 1st and 2nd to grab 1 player....

I don't know anything about the draft choices being touted as being in the top 10. What I do know is that the draft is usually a toss of the dice. Also, what is the track record of the draft gurus that are most frequently cited? I remember Walter Football's prediction about Mosely was overrated and he gave the Ravens a poor overall draft grade. We'll see.

Boy when I heard this trade my jaw hit the ground lol. I mean none of these QBs stack up to last year's Top 2 Winston & Mariotta or next year's possible Top 2 D.Watson & Kaaya.

Now on to the Ravens, hopefully the Browns bite the bullet and select the left over QB pushes the real top prospects down the board : Tunsil, Ramsey, Bosa, Jack, Buckner.... And I love VH3 as well although he's not getting the love in mock drafts.

I'd be beyond thrilled to land Tunsil or Ramsey although I doubt either makes it that far.

the comparison between Buckner and Ngata is a stretch. Totally different body types. Haloti (6'4" 338) is more of your NT, DT and Buckner (6'7" 291) fits the mold of a 5 technique.

From all accounts he is considered the best overall player in the entire draft and considered to be a generational talent and perhaps the best tackle prospect in a very long time.

someone is going to trade up and draft goff if cleveland does not take him which helps us out big time. i truly believe we have will still go with bosa or jack and if they are both gone than we trade back draft stanley and pkg some picks to move back into the late 1st rd if needed to grab a player like spence or a cb
