That should put us around $10-10.5 million in cap space now... wonder which direction Ozzie will go with that (CB-Pass Rush or OL depth)?

The idea that Elam should start out behind Webb and Lewis is silly. Webb has lost like 7 steps, and is no more proven than Elam at that position. The only thing Lewis has proven is that he CAN'T play. At worst, It should be Weddle, and then the other spot should be completely open to competition in camp.

I would consider using some cap space on a vet ILBer...very concerned with the state our ILBer corp is in, of course if we draft Jack i will be happy...

I was thinking the same. Seems like people have forgotten we have parted ways with D. Smith and COURTNEY UPSHAW. Even though D.Smith was ok at best, I still dont see anyone on our roster that can replace them. If anyone on here says we have somebody currently who can fill the shoes or be a better replacement than D.Smith is lying and should be banned from NFL talk. Go talk about soccer or tennis.

D. Smith was a monster! He was our leading tackler...again! I think cutting him was a mistake. He not only was a great player but a great mentor and team leader.

Look at the bright side: If we end up losing Elam, he already has experience at Footlocker. lol

its good to have a backup plan

D Smith was definitely better than "OK at best", really thought the FO had someone on their radar or something in the works when they cut Smith.

I believe the Raven's have already declared the spot next to Weddle as being open...Elam will get every opportunity to make his case to start, and Webb will have to prove his value at either safety or CB, but Webb does have some skills and i'm sure the Raven's would welcome his versatility(if he can show it)...I do agree that K. Lewis is under a lot of pressure to show he can still play every down, and he should be on the bubble making this team as it is right now.

Refering to my Pitta comment, modern tackling in the NFL has gotten really sloppy and controversial. Its like every defender is looking to knock out an opponents knee, or hit them while they are not looking. All it takes is one hit and Pitta could be in a very bad situation, forget about the NFL, this is about this mans well being in life. Dont want to be 40 years old walking around with a cane.

Especially if you are facing those players twice a year. Bengals are the worse.

Boller flat out sucked. He was a deer in headlights took some hellacious hits though definitely a pretty tough QB.

For the Love of Goodness please do NOT use the money you saved on Pitta and give that to Elam. "There's a good chance he'll be remembered as the biggest first-round bust in the Ravens' 20-year draft history, even surpassing quarterback Kyle Boller and wide receiver Travis Taylor.” I wonder how many draft bust the other teams (Besides Cleavland) have in the AFC North?

Travis Taylor was the 10th pick in 2000.  Clearly, he's the Ravens' first-round bust of the century.

its time for the Ravens to move on from Elam. Dak Prescott is a sleeper qb in this draft. But he will be gone before the 4th round.

Draft picks will probably cost around half of that or maybe a little more, so won't be a ton left after that.

I doubt its open at all. They're 100% committed to Webb and Weddle as starters at this point from what I've seen.

I doubt Lewis is really on the bubble though, because frankly, assuming Webb is any good, he's the 3rd best safety on this roster right now.

I'd say Elam/Brooks are more likely to get cut than Lewis at this point, particularly given both players injury history and inability to get on the field.
