@steelcityraven My scenario would be if Pitta has no cautious of his injury and perform like he did in 2012, then they should put Waller on the practice squad and have Pitta, Boyle, Williams, and Watson as our TE depth but by having Boyle being suspended for 10 games then Waller can take his spot until Boyle come back from suspension. If the Ravens wanted to keep Pitta they have to make sure if he could fully play, contact the doctors if it's truly 100% healed and it's no wear and tear.

Do I want Pitta back yes Duuuuuuuh! Do I hold my breath when he's on the field making a catch yes but TE is a grueling position with all the bodies flying around in that part of the field and the type of catch he made when he went down was awkward and it mite be more passes thrown that way I don't know if "HE" should risk it, unless Joe hits him up further down field and that mite bake a difference!

If Pitta can come back fully fit with no hip issues i see this as a good thing him coming back. With Pitta restructuring his deal and cutting Ford we should open up some more cap space

The Ravens went way out on a limb to sign Pitta long term for big dollars after the first hip injury. Fate was not kind to either Pitta or the Ravens. Let's not make the same mistake again.

Ravens have too many players nursing injuries as it is. They already invested 4 players to that position. Last year he described his hip as that of an 80 year old man. It is time for the Ravens to move on.

In as much as we can all speculate what is best for Pitta, it is a decision he and his family must make.  When you've had the opportunity to do the thing that you love, when it is taken away it leaves an very empty void.  That void can lead to resentment in all aspects of one's life, both professionally and personally...and potentially cause just as much damage as the actual injury itself.  I am sure Pitta and his wife have weighed the pros and cons and the consequences of a return to football.  If I'm not mistaken she is a nurse too, so I'm sure she is aware of the consequences.

Whether Pitta actually sees the field or not only time will tell.  But I admire him for his persistence, his resilience, his passion for the game and being the ultimate team player in terms of putting the team first before himself with his restructure.   I can't think of a recent Raven I have more respect for.   I stand behind him whatever happens.

In his heart I'm sure he wants to continue his career but....2 major hip injuries at 30 years young? We can see the writing on the wall he's lucky to be walking let alone running. Analyst could work better for him then capt caveman chaos.

This is a really tough spot for the Ravens. Pitta is a guy that it seems like everyone in the organization loves, respects and wants to see back playing football. But in the NFL today teams can't really pay to have a player sit on the bench or take the risk of them getting hurt just running again.

I heard Todd Heap plans on returning in 2017...rumor mill as they say. Pitta may lose his comeback bid. Dennis the injury menace has caused you Heaps of trouble. When I see it I'll believe it. We have 3 TE's with good hips. Max the waxed axe will put the hammer down. The smoking diesel.

Seems like he should have just been cut and gone to a team with a need at TE. He will be competing with Maxx, Crockett, Watson, Boyle, and Waller for a roster spot.

It would surprise me if Pitta ever returned and doesn't re-injure himself after such serious hip bone breaks. He should be more concerned about the quality of life after football now that it is over. He won a ring and has nothing more to prove. Joe will find new friends to throw to. Max Williams will step it up now that his rookie days are over,

Well said.

Its easy for us to say give up on your dream that you've worked 30 years to get. Money is obviously not the issue as pitta has 20 mil or so in his bank account. If pitta took a 4 mil dollar pay cut (freeing up the same amount as he'd retire) to chase that dream then all power to him. If I was pittas parent brother or wife, I would 109 percent disagree with his decision. But if he really wants to chase his dream and passion then I would 100 percent support his decision regardless of how sick it would make me feel every time he stepped on the field.

Pitta would be better off not to chance it. He's a smart guy who will do well in the real world. Goodbye Dennis. Thanks for 2012. You were there.

hen826957....I really hope you are right about Pitta but I am not optimistic....any time a player misses a season its hard to return to form... this is two seasons for Pitta and i think we will simply always question his health. IDK if i am ready to simply stick Waller on the PS... this has become a league of freakish TE's who have the size and athleticism to create match up problems. Waller is that type of freak athlete with freakish size and speed.... and if he can make that transition to TE he could make our offense exponentially more dangerous and keep the LB's of teams like Pittsburgh and Cincy much more honest!

We can TRY to put Waller on the practice squad. The dangers of that are he has to be cut, then signed to the practice squad. When he is cut, a team can swoop in and sign him to their active roster, that's a big risk because he obviously has the talent to develop into a good player. He can also be plucked from our practice squad at anytime, so either way its a risk. Waller may just end up being the odd man out.

Honestly, I was hoping Pitta would retire. Its gonna be sad to watch if he injures his hip again. Also, he has regained mobility in the hip where he can live a very good lifestyle, if he hurts it again, complications will be worse. Every time he touches the ball I'm gonna hold my breathe, because it could happen even without contact (like last time). Maybe he comes back and performs well, which would be a bonus, but it's a long shot.

Your absolutely righ. He's better off walking away from this game. But it's more than just a game to him. Hes willing to risk his future for one last crack at this and I for one admire him for it. I believe he'll do well not because he's smart but because of his courage and dedication. You can always surround yourself with advisors and smart people. You can never find passion and dedication if you don't have it from within. I hope pitta walks away but if he doesn't then I won't say goodbye until he does.

Waller won't last a day on our practice squad. Use him or trade him. Don't just lose him!

I am sure he thinks he's healed(in his head) but bottom line is he's just sucking up our cap space and there will be no payoff for us......Hopefully we cut him(we have way better te's now) and maybe the browns pick him up or he can play in the CFL .....Didn't think he was the greedy type but money is the root of all evil.......Cut him!!

Making him agree to a restructured contract is better than cutting him from a salary cap perspective.

Not sure he's even eligible for the practice squad.

I don't think he'd find a robust market. He'd probably get picked up, but he's just a typical raw player with a lot of size that teams like. Most of those guys don't amount to anything in this league in the long term, and most teams have a player just like that one their roster already.

Realize that he was a 6th round pick a year ago. Its not like teams were clamoring for him before, and he didn't show anything last season to make teams think differently about him.

My how times have changed. With our current TE roster I would have Pitta on par with Waller in terms of importance to our team. Waller has potential. Pitta has liabilities. The way our luck has gone since the SB win, I would be apprehensive about cutting anyone in order to keep Pitta.

Right on! I believe Pitta and Suggs will come back strong it's in their nature. There not part of this WIMP generation. Where else does he have a chance to make that money? Save a few mil in the bank he he still will have more than most of us.

SO we have Joe Flacco, Steve Smith, Dennis Pita, Justine Forsett, Terrell Suggs, Michael Campanaro, Daniel Brown, and Breshad Perriman coming back from major injury this year. Call this year the "Purple Ribbon Gang". ( Can't say Heart)
