[News] Ravens Evaluate Cornerback Vernon Hargreaves

26 posts in this topic

My top 6 off the board would be Ramsey, Tunsil, Jack, Spence, Hargreaves and Buckner in that order. After watching the film on the cornerbacks and pass rushers, Bosa has no explosiveness. He routinely takes off plays, he doesn't pursue and he is slow to react. Can't figure out all the the hype over him. If you go back and watch Suggs and Dumervil, Spence looks closer to those guys than anyone else. Buckner is a good solid player but if we want pass rush, it is Spence. Off field issues aside, in my opinion, that's the top 6 guys that should be in the Ravens sights.

IDK.... I wouldn't be mad at taking him # 6 but I would feel like we reached a little. Especially when we can land (Eli Apple, Artie Burns, MAlexander, or William Jackson) later in rd1 one or early in round # 2. Is hargraves head and shoulders above those 4? If so... go for it... if not... trade back and see if we can land VHIII or one of the other four a little later in the round!

I think we can land Spence out side of the top 10... (so if that was the target... why not trade back?

IDK... this reminds me of a few years ago...when Deon Sanders was coming out of FSU... UF had a DB named Louis Oliver who everyone was saying is a close second.... We see how that turned out. I am not sold on VHIII especially as a # 6 pick. He looked horrible vs Bamma two seasons in a row but that is some elite WRs... he actually played well against Treadwell and others.... IDK.... maybe later in round 1

Kid would be a monster at FS just saying.....

Agreed. Plus we have supporting cast members in the backend. He could be schemed effective in a Pee's defense.

Yeah we heard the same crap about Elam. Oh, he is undersized but he is sooooo fast. Baloney. They have made excuses for his lame performances since they made the boneheaded mistake of drafting him, throwing away yet another number 1 pick.

I have cycled through hot/cold on other prospects since midway through the college season, but VH3 has been a player I consistently wanted since the 2014 season. He would have been a top-10 pick last draft had he been eligible.

VH3 is going to be, at worst, a good CB in this league, and at best, a shut-down corner with ball skills. He would be the perfect compliment to Jimmy: Jimmy covers the bigger WRs like Brandon Marshall while VH3 covers the quick and elusive WRs like Antonio Brown. Plus VH3 would fit Pees' defense perfectly, since VH3 played a lot of off-coverage at Florida.

With VH3, our secondary would be a strength of this team for the first time in years.

Buckner has no explosion and average strength. Controls lesser talent with long arms and enormous hands and good athleticism for his size. He will not do that in the nfl. Biggest bust in top10!! Bosa the more I watch He shows inconsistent explosion. Makes no sense for his strength and athleticism. A 20 yr old player with a 285 lb long lean frame once matured and and 6.8  3 cone. What is going on there?? Is he hung over?? But his ceiling is high. But there is cause for hesitation.

Guess they forgot to mention "can't tackle" and "can't cover".

If Jack, Ramsey, Buckner, and Bosa are gone then AND its not a trade in the works then yes. The front office said they wanted playmakers on the defensive side of the ball.

That being said this draft isn't really that great at the top. It isn't a consensus #1 the qb's that generally push down the other talent are more projects then anything. This draft for Ozzie, Decosta, and Hortiz will absolutely show what the front office is made of if they can make this chicken crap into chicken salad.

Trade back and get Karl Joseph. Kid is a monster.

Interesting to see if we would take him if he is there at 36. I'm a big WV fan, and Joseph can straight out ball. Watch his game against Oklahoma this past year. He was playing like a man possessed.

I wish it was possible for us to get Ramsey, but it may not happen. I really like Jack from UCLA. What is the chance that we go against the experts and draft Elliot out of Ohio State?

I like Joseph also but too inconsistent .... all the raw skills and love his football mentality... he would fit us well... but while I wouldn't be too made to grab him at #36.... I would feel like we reached if we got him anywhere before pick 18- 19 in round 1

I would def take him if Ramsay and Tunsil are gone. Bosa and Buckner have too many question marks and Myles Jack is coming off an injury. This guy is as squeaky as a prospect you will see. Plus it wouldn't be that much of a reach considering most mock drafts have him going in top ten anyhow. Plus we need a corner bad and have for years...... someone opposite of Smith. Secondary has been in shambles forever and this would provide security for years to come

Agreed. I think he's a little underrated and hope it stays that way. Would be great to have to pro ready starting outside corners for years to come in Smith and Hargreaves. Kinda like McCalister and Starks. Plus no character issues and the kid plays like a Raven. Def see more play making ability from Hargreaves than Bosa or Buckner.........a lot of people say those two will get pushed around in the NFL anyhow.

Yea, but this guy isn't in the same league as Elam. Way way more talented, plus it fills a huge position of need.

After the Titans traded out of the top slot, there is a pretty good chance that we could land Ramsey at number 6.
