Bold Predictions for the Draft

172 posts in this topic

Time to have some fun. I'll lay down three.

Bold Prediction Number One: We do not address Corner at all in the upcoming draft. Or if we do, we do that in the mid rounds.

Sorry to say it guys. We seem comfortable. We could have gotten Boykin for cheap, and are not going after anyone. I think we clearly will value the front 7 more.

Bold Prediction Number Two: We take another TE.

Doesn't have to be Hunter Henry(though I could actually see that). But even with the crowded TE corps, Gillmore is overrated/injury prone, Watson is old, and Boyle is a troublemaker. You never know with these kind of things.

Bold Prediction Number Three: We draft a WR in the second round.

Whether it's Tyler Boyd, Doctson, or Shepard, we take a WR. Coming as a shock to many. This will likely start the "Is Perriman a bust" talk in Ravens talk.

Anything else from people?

Lol, these are so bold that there is no way they happen.

- we'll double-dip on DBs, one we take early
- Gillmore is great, this TE class is not good, we don't take one
- WR we won't draft before the 4th round - WR class isn't good either

The only way we go offense early is Stanley in 1st or Derrick Henry in 2nd round.

Without even reading your post I can guarantee you that you talk about how awesome Derrick Henry is just for the sake of infuriating me.

I did mention him but not in that context.

Disagree with Gillmore, I traded him to you. But not sure I disagree about WR. I could see that. Could see DBs as well, but I'm not sure. I could see Stanley. I don't mind him.

Yep - Stanley will depend on who gets taken before us. If Jack, Ramsey and Bosa are all gone, I think we might get him before other, available defensive players.

I think the WR prediction  is certainly possible. The only WR currently on our roster sure to be there in 2017 is Perriman.

The TE prediction seems unlikely, but I can't rule anything out because BPA. Our FO seems to have an eye for TEs like the Steelers have an eye for WRs.

The CB prediction seems possible. I mean, we desperately needed a WR a couple years ago in a stacked WR class and only came away with Campanaro in the 7th. Sometimes the draft just falls in a way where BPA and need at a certain position don't match up.

As you say, I'll add this just for the fun's sake.. I highly doubt (and hope) we ain't see this happening.

#1- We're going RB-OT (either order) with the first two picks, hence we won't address D until round 3.

#2- We'll give up a next year pick in a trade-up move.

#3- We don't address CB until round 4.

Again. Wouldmt be surprised. Zeke is a real dark horse for our pick. With no Bosa Jack tunsil or Ramsey he could be the bpa in the eyes of the FO. I actually think he would be viewed as bpa over hargreaves

49ers trade up to 1. Eagles trade up to 3. QBs go like hot cakes in the top 5. One of Tunsil/Ramsey falls to us.

(Less a bold "prediction" than a hope that if I write something crazy like that down it just might have a chance to happen.)

I'd say it has the opposite effect

So you're saying it'll be my fault we don't get one of those guys? Rats.

Yup. Kicked out of the Ravens fandom.

1) we are taking a Terp in this draft. I'm predicting Sean Davis.

2) Myles Jack goes 3 to San Diego

3) Ravens trade third round pick to grab either a pass rusher or corner at the bottom part of round one.

Man,  I can't really think of a bold prediction for the draft because anything is possible.  I guess I'll say we don't make a single trade, which would be very disappointing

The draft goes Tunsil, Wentz, Ramsey, Bosa/Elliott, Buckner/Bosa and we end up with Jack!!!!

I can easily see to that happening, as the first three I think are spot on.

GIllmore overrated? No one talks about the guy... He is probably underrated if anything. Though I can see him taking a back seat to Maxx Williams next season if he takes the next step. Those two with Benjamin Watson and 6'7 Darren Waller... I have a hard enough time carrying 4 tight ends next season but I think that is what will happen. One thing that I think will happen that nobody is talking about is a quarterback in the 6th or 7th round. And I know everyone will sigh at that pick but I think they will to bring competition to Mallett. I think that player will end up being on the practice squad. I also see us drafting 2 defensive linemen and people will scratch their head saying we only need to replace Canty.

I don't agree that Gillmore is overrated. I think he is the best TE we have and if he stays healthy he will be one of the best in the game.

My bold prediction: we go Zeke with first, WR with second and OT with third.

Then use all the other picks on defense.

Yeah this is usually the kiss of death when talking about FAs in Ravens Talk

Interestingly this favors Ozzie's strengths in finding quality on the Defensive side later.

Though I think a decent OT/G can be found in round 4-5 who needs some coaching and strength to become a starter.

Ravens trade back into the bottom first to select either Noah spence who's falling or a OT (spriggs or decker) ahead of Titans / chargers

We take an offensive player in the first round, which comes in a trade back with Philadelphia where we then take Stanley at 8.

We take a defensive lineman with our second pick and everyone freaks out, maybe a Reed, Robinson, or Billings.

The fourth round is dedicated to all defense

The players we passed on at 6 and 7 become an immediate studs and we came back on the forum in anger.

Last but not least, Lawson becomes the best rusher of the class and Stanley ends up becoming Joe's sacred guardian on the blind side when Monroe goes down.

Maybe Cardell Jones in the 4th and then use Mallett as trade bait in the middle of the season since we'll only have at the most one comp pick. Could happen.

If we draft Derrick Henry I swear I'm going to boycott the organization until he's gone or he becomes a bust like trent richardson and many of those overrated Alabama players. Most come to the NFL already having maxed out their potential.

Bold Prediction----

We trade out of the 6th selection and move down to 18th and pick up a second round pick 38-42 range plus an additional 5th round pick that we will use to select Deon Bush.

With this 18th selection we move ahead of the Bills and Select either Shaq Lawson, or Robert Nkimdeche with the 42 pick we gonna double dip and grab Kevin Dodd or Spence if he slips.

Second Bold Prediction--- I believe we will lose Brandon Williams in free agency his agent knows he can at least command at $50 million for 5 year deal on the open market.

If he doesn't resign this offseason only way we get him back is he regresses this year.

Dear God I hope we don't pick Nkemdiche, the guy is a head case and huge lack of work ethic.   I'd rather have Kevin Dodd which which I don't think he makes it out of the first.

And yea man,  if we take Derrick Henry I will be as happy as Owen Hart at a pay-per-view

The only thing I can really agree with is the WR prediction. I think we spent enough of our offseason time last season and this season addressing the TE issue. We need a CB.
