[News] Ozzie Newsome Will Listen If Teams Call To Trade

19 posts in this topic

With Brickashaw Ferguson retiring today, add the Jets as a potential trade partner not for someone looking for a QB (that too) but for someone looking for a LT (Stanley)... but, I don't know what the Jets can offer that'll make the Ravens bite that far back into the draft...

A 2017 first round pick in addition would be the starting point.

So anyone notice what the Ravens received fro dropping 18 spots last time? only two 3rd rounders and a 4th rounder. Now all those people saying that the Ravens would receive TWO 2nd rounders and a 4th or 5th from the Rams to move back only 9 spots have to feel pretty silly now.
Bottom line is Ozzie like to move and is willing to take less to do it.
I still say it is a losing proposition to drop back more than 3 spots in this years draft.

Yeah you simply can't just look at one deal many years ago and be like "yeah, that's what its going to cost". Just simply not realistic to do that.

One year it takes multiple first rounders to move up to #6, and another year it might not take more than a second rounder. All depends on how the board shakes out and what kind of players are available.

I would bet a large sum of money, however, that Ozzie won't trade out of the top 15 picks in this draft without getting a future first round pick for the #6 pick in the draft. Just really doesn't make much sense to take less than that.

If we were to move back from 6 to like the 10-15 range, he may do that for a 2nd and some later picks. But there's certainly nothing definitive to suggest anything is for certain.

Odds on bet is that the Ravens simply select a player at #6. I know fans love to talk draft pick trades and because we do it every few years everybody thinks we do it every year, but the most likely scenario is us standing pat and taking a player. That's typically what we do.

The Raven's ALWAYS entertain trading back for more picks, i'm just not so certain they'll do it this draft because there are so many good players that you would feel comfortable starting at the top of this draft...Now, if a team were willing to throw in a future #1 and maybe a #2 and/or #3 this year, they would have to really weigh that decision. Given this years crop of QB's isn't exactually blowing everybody away, I don't see that big a run on QB's happening...But you could get a team in desperation mode.

Obviously the trade value chart isn't the be-all-end all, but suppose the Eagles want to jump in front of the 9ers and snag a QB, it would cost them a third round pick this year to trade with us - we move back 2 spots, and if both teams take a QB, we get the same player we would have taken at 6 overall plus an extra top 10 pick in the third round, where we'd likely take someone we had a second round grade on. Just one possible scenario, although depending on who we may lose out on I'd rather just take the player at 6 then run the risk of losing him entirely.

There is a lot of jobs on the line in this draft. If they screw this one up and when that lack of talent hits years down the road Steve will have no choice in changing office personnel.

I think trading back to #8 with the Eagles is my favorite trade scenario. We would be picking up an asset while remaining likely to get whoever we were going to take at 6 anyway. If they have a few players all ranked about the same, then they should strongly consider a move back if someone makes a good offer.

Of course, as Goff's draft stock improves, it could end up likely someone ahead of us makes a trade down, which really wouldn't be such a bad thing, since it would mean more QBs off the board. We would have our pick of all but 3 of the top non-QB prospects (presumably, 2 of those already drafted prospects would be Ramsey and Tunsil).

Just like it did last year due to all the high bonehead picks made from 2009 until now.

With some of the crazy teams drafting after us in the first round this year, the phones might be running hot.

I just wished that Ozzie and Eric were on the clock last year when Johnny Vegas sexted the browns, could have been a nice deal to be had.

I would love to be able to get a first rounder for next year,  but I don't want to trade back past 15

Newsome would love to trade down. He knows he has to score at the six spot. He just doesn't have it any longer. He's gonna mess this up, just watch.
