[News] Late For Work 4/8: Early Look At Ravens Regular-Season Schedule

37 posts in this topic

Plus, Terrance West is suing a Florida hotel for two robberies in the same day. Perhaps more motivation for Steve Smith to return early. Don’t place too much emphasis on pre-draft visits. Ravens show faith in Za’Darius Smith.

Can definitely see SSS want to play against Carolina. Sorry to hear about the bad luck West had but would rather read about a Raven being a victim of a crime instead of a culprit

No matter how you look at it, we have a brutal and tough schedule both at home and away. It's going to take a lot of calls going our way this coming year to have a winning season and a chance at making the playoffs. Also, we better build up our roster to not just compete but to dominate. As I see it, every team on our schedule is much improved from 2015. So, we need to buckle down and perform as players and coaches.

I just think if we can stay healthy, and have the young players step up from all the PT they were forced in to playing will pay off, and we should make the playoffs.....Even with all the injuries last year a bunch of games could have gone our way, so it's not like we got crushed in those 11 loses during our 5-11 season....JMO.....

I agree with you to a point, I believe we could still pull out a winning season just because the NFC East is so weak of a division, and as always the browns will be the browns. Pitt Cincy and New England as well as Buffalo will be tough games but I have Faith in our Team! Besides its WAY to Early to Project records, as the Draft hasn't even passed yet nor has players recovered from season ending injuries. Compared to last year our Schedule is a lot weaker!

I'd be surprised if we didn't go 10-6 which would be a HUGE turn around from the last two seasons. I'm honestly just looking for our team to STAY healthy more so than last year. Let the draft pass and then maybe we can talk records for the upcoming schedule. Hopefully NOONE has ANY Setbacks during their Rehab this offseason, So far nothing but good reports! LETS GO #RAVENS!!

I guess I understand where you're coming from, but I don't like hearing about Ravens players being victimized either. Let's just say no crime should be associated with the Ravens.

Totally agree with you! remember the Ravens set a record with the most games decided by (I think it was) 4 or fewer points, that's saying A Hell Of a Lot About Our Team As A Whole! Go Ravens! Can't Wait For This Season!

I look forward to who we draft with the #6 pick, but i am more interested in seeing how the younger layers step up, like Carl Davis, and Z on the D side of the ball, as well as if Suggs is fully healed....Also want to see how well stocked we will be at CB, just over the last 2 years not sure many teams have gone through CB's like we have due to injuries, its been pretty insane....

We will be just fine! everyone is all worried we won't bounce back. The amount of injuries we had last year was just terrible luck and we should still expect a few injuries, but none that bad. Ozzie picking at the top of the first four rounds and also having 4 4th rounders means he is going to bust out his sorcerer's hat and make some magic--at the very worst he will land two starters and some talent that will blossom in a season or two. The way I see it is that we will have depth this year that is experienced and we need to make sure that Flacco has a smooth transition in making a return to his full form. In order to do that we need to be able to run the ball and play dominant defense. I guarantee we go at least 8-8. I would realistically believe in 10-6 with Ozzie killing this draft though

I agree with everything you said, in one of my comments I said 10-6 and that was just by looking at who we play lol Honestly there is no reason for me not to even say 11-5 or 12-4 but I agree that 10-6 is more realistic

I would not disagree, especially if everyone returns from injuries with no set backs, but with our draft, it all depends on a few things, such as the caliber of players we land. Ozzie will most likely try to take the most polished players early, e.g., Bosa, Hargreaves, Jack, or Elliot, which will immediately have a huge role on the team, then he could attempt to stay on that path, or take a few gambles on more raw players that could become something special, but I assume he will do this with our 4th rounders. I wouldn't be surprised if the first three picks are all starters, or at least play more than half of our snaps. I think Flacco has adequate weapons and a decent line, but with some extra depth there and a few play makers on defense, we will battle it out with anyone.

Couldn't have said it any better!!! I'm excited for Our Team/Organization because we have So Many Picks within the first 4 rounds! Im really looking forward to the Draft more than I ever have in recent years.

A few tough games but the schedule is anything but brutal, especially our home games. U must not have much faith in the Ravens. Nuff said.

I would not classify that schedule as easier than last year. Our schedule last year really wasn't that tough. It was just littered with West Coast Travel. Our division makes every year tough. Tell my why we never get New England at home?

This is the NFL, really no real easy out, as we know on any given Sunday....Not like college where you know teams will blow out another.....

It does feel like we are always in Foxboro... I agree

We get NE at home plenty of times.

It always seems we get them on the road because we play them nearly every year in the playoffs in NE.

the formula remains the same... win our division games and win our home games and everything else will take care of it self!

I hope that speaks more to our confidence in Z and less about our lack of confidence in Courtney. Courtney could stop the run but was often out of shape, was not suited to contribute with more reps and was one dimensional. His pass rush was less then desired...and we didn't want him covering the pass. He can play the run and I loved his physicality but not sure he merited much of a raise. I think Z looked great and I hope he takes the next step!

I bet any money the NFL makes the Ravens play New England the first game. Bengals the last game, Pitts after the Pitts has their bye.

Pats were here in 2013. Ravens are scheduled to play the AFC East again in 2019 and the Pats will be here again. They also could possibly be here in 2017 and 2018 as the predetermined futures schedule show the Ravens will play the AFC East team determined by finish. I'm thinking as long as Brady is around the Pats will continue to win that weak division. If the Ravens win the AFC North two consecutive years we will see them in Baltimore two straight years.

This is funny to me:

1. I don't know why playing NE the first game of the season would be considered a bad thing. I'd very much like to have that... pretty much the best thing possible actually. Not sure if you guys are aware, but playing in NE in November and December isn't fun, and the Patriots typically win almost all of those games.

2. We will a play division team the last game of the season most likely, so don't really care who it is.

3. I have no idea what the Steelers reference is, but there have been precisely 0 times that we have played Pittsburgh directly after their bye week, so if it does happen, it will be a first.

sure the pitt and cincy games are always tough but everyone of our home games is winnable. we can win most of those road games as well. if we stay healthy than i see no reason not to go 11-5 or 12-4.

I'd say that's a stretch. Most of the time when we win 11 or 12 games, we are a SB contending team and we already know it. This team still has a lot of holes that haven't been filled and the holes that we have filled we have no idea whether the players replacing them will be good or not. And in particular, I don't see the overall talent on this team like I saw with the 2000 team or the 2011-2012 teams that were very good.

I'd say 11 would be on the high end, and the low end could be as low as 6-7 wins.

Go 6-2 (or better) at Home, find 4 wins on the road. That's the formula.

I'm optimistic that we will win 9-10 games this year...your formula sounds about right, and seems doable with our scheduled opponents. I'm still of the opinion that last year was a one year drop-off and not the start of a nose-dive.
