[News] Will Ravens Draft A Cornerback In Round 2?

27 posts in this topic

The Ravens don’t have a glaring hole at cornerback with Smith and Shareece Wright re-signed to be the starters. Baltimore also has Will Davis and Kyle Arrington."

That's an interesting statement.

I actually agree, Jimmy smith seems to be getting healthy, Shareece wright improved and earned a second contract. Will davis was lights out in the slot before the injury. Arrington was once the league leader in interceptions and took a paycut to provide depth. Webb is safety/Slot I think we could get a secound rounder to come in and learn behind for a year. Our first pick honestly should be Elliot... keep our Defense rested, control the clock, balance out our offense, we get a tackle or pass rusher in the third. We still have Z smith, to spell dummervill and suggs. lets not forget jernigan and urban who have shown disruptive potenital. were not as far off as we think

I believe resigning shareece wright, for the amount of money/years we gave him shows our confidence in his strides throughout the year. I dont believe the front office feels we are as needy in the secondary based on these contracts. first pick barring Ramseys unlikely availability will probably be MLB/EDGE/RB

Always knowing the Ravens will take the best player especially in the first round, if the first round pick is a DE/OLB then ILB and T should be 2nd round targets. If we take Elliott first round (and this is plausible) then in second target the better of DE/OLB, ILB or T. With 2 tradeable 4th round picks and our pick at #36 in 2nd round, we can use them to go higher in 2nd round or maybe to the very end of 1st round to get one of the above mentioned positions covered and get the player we want. Drafting early in the round has its advantages, but I'd rather pick last next year, if you know what i mean!!!

I agree. Our CBs will be much better this year even if we don't draft one real high. (But if Ramsey is on the board at six he's our!) I expect a CB to be picked anywhere from the 2nd -4th rounds. A name to remember is Artie Burns - Miami. On the team already are Smith, Wright, Will Davis and Arrington good blend of youth and veteran presence. Adding a CB in the early rounds will fortify that position. position. With the addition of Weddle our safety and the backend of our DBs looks in good hands. Most of all Leslie Frazier will be a good coach and provide strong leadership. Harbaugh made a great hire!.

Pass Rusher/LBr first 2 rounds.. remember 5 picks rounds 3-4 so get a CB then..Cyrus Jones on many mocks is projected a 4th rndr. Zach Sanchez,Kevaraie Russell 3rd rndrs, Artis Burns another 3rd to 4th rndr.
But remember.. it starts with Front 7. Just couple years ago..we were healthy Jimmy Smity away from another SB..Because Flacco outclassed Brady with 4 Tds, and Sizzle,Mcphee,Dum etc Elite Pass Rush changed the Game and covered up a C grade secondary.

Rnd 1, gotta get Bosa,Jack,Spence,Lawson,Buckner..then rnd 2 get another..Dodd,Spence,Nkumdeche,Jaylon Smith etc

A 2nd round pick on a player who you know won't probably play in 2016?  Nahhh homie!!

Or potentially ever, depending on who you ask.

I don't think he's going to be a 2nd round pick anyway. Think he will be a day 3 pick.

Looks like we do pretty good picking CBs in the first: Starks, McAlister, Jimmy... VH3 ^_^ There will be some good value on CBs at our 2nd pick though, so it's definitely a possibility, even if we draft VH3 in round 1 in all honesty, since you really need 3 CBs in this league nowadays (SB champion Broncos drafted their #3 CB, Roby, in round 1).

Apple, Jackson and Fuller will be gone in the first, leaving us Jones in the 2nd. However, if we get real lucky, Fuller or Jackson will fall or we trade back into the first to snatch one. Seems the Oz, with his free agent moves, might take a shot of moving back into the first. Also, I am so happy the Pats don't have a first round pick! Love the idea of making a second pick at 36, if we stay there!!!!

I love William Jackson-CB -Houston but I like Fuller maybe even better. He is a big bodied CB with strength and fluidity. He has some work but has the NFL pedigree and VTech has produced some quality CBs lately. We need help at CB and TBH I would love to see us take more then 1 CB in this draft. Maybe Fuller and Maurice Cannaday -CB -UVA or Jackson and Cannaday????

If we trade back out of 6 to later in the 1st round and add another possible 2nd rounder and we take a scenario like CB (M. Alexander, E. Apple, Will Jackson etc). later in round 1 and then take a Noah Spence and a Nkedemiche in round 2 or a Pass Rusher (like Shaq Lawson or Spence) later in round 1 and grab up a William Jackson and a Fuller in round two.... wow... I think it would be difficult not to move back!

I like Jimmy and Sharece Wright but both have had problems staying on the field. We need some infusion of talent and depth at the CB position. Not necessarily 1st rounders but quality players who can develop into solid starters for sure.

Me, myself, personally, in all three regards wanted the Ravens #1 pick in the draft to be a CB like Jimmy Smith! I'm just sayin two #1's on both ends and rushing no more than five on the D Line helps the secondary "TREMENDOUSLY" like they did to "SHUTDOWN" the squeelers so called hi powered offense! This is not algebra look at the film the Ravens didn't blitz and wreaked havoc the whole game in the secondary with two and a possible INTs! CB Apple from them Ohio State Buckeyes!

On your list replace Cyrus Jones with Artie Burns, and that list will be more likely.

Artie Burns is a very good match up partner for Jimmy Smith. Both long in stature and Burns has some wheels AND can play both FS and CB if needed. You follow that up with Eric Murray in the 4th maybe and I would be happy with that.

Harbaugh likes him some previous head coaches on his staff. can we blame him;)

If we can pick up an Eli Apple or Mackenzie Alexander at #36, it would be a great pick for us assuming that we pick one of Bosa, Buckner or Elliott at #6.

Mackensie Alexander would be an awesome pick in the 2nd round if he make it and l like that name of his and the looks of his name tells me he gonna be a shut down corner of this league. If Myles Jack makes at 6 and draft him it will field the void at LB and corner. Also if Noah Spence is somehow also still there in the second round l advise Ozzie to trade back in the second round (don't know how many picks we will give up though) and grab him as well and that we will have Myles Jack, Mackensie Alexander, and Noah Spence man that would be too good to be true LOL. Ozzie is good finding OT gems in the later rounds (4th round) so there no need to draft a OT in the first round.

William Jackson III is very intriguing. He has great size and speed. Maybe the draft Gods will be on our side and he falls to 36. Highly unlikely, but you never know.

On paper Ravens have enough CB's & DB's on the roster but in reality they are physically weak and none have a reputation even to be considered a "star" caliber. Average at best. Second round NO, Ravens need Offensive Line and Linebackers now.

If William Jackson III falls to us 36, Ozzie might injure his PCL racing to the podium...oh wait...

Don't no why but I have a lot of confidence in secondary next year, I am more concerned with o line and pass rush. We struggled to move the ball last year and no matter the offense we WILL run the ball regardless. Joe Flacco got injured when Hurst was knocked down by the defender and driven into Flaccos legs... That's enough proof right there. Suggs and Doom are getting older and Suggs is coming back from a tuff injury.
