[News] Late For Work 4/7: Three Bold Predictions For Ravens' Draft

47 posts in this topic

Can't see the Ravens drafting Elliott unless they trade back with a fist full of picks for him. The next AP or not, RBs are just not valued this way anymore and we already have money and bodies committed at RB. Besides, Forsett will not get cut. West, Allen and Taliaferro are all viable back-up candidates with great upside. Then the Richardson signing pretty much seals the deal for Elliott unless they draft him late in the 1st rd.

dont see how these are bold predictions. Three bold predictions from me would be
1. trade back into first round for a pass rusher
2. we do not address tackle in the draft
3. We do not draft an offensive position until the end of the fourth round

I agree with Zrebiec's analysis, except I would definitely include Hargreaves in the elite prospect category and possibly remove Buckner.

Also agree with Kiper that Zeke should be in play at 6, although I'd rather trade down to 8 with the Eagles, allowing them to draft Goff and allowing us to pick up a pick (no guarantee a trade-down is an option though).

Agree that Wallace could very-well be a 1yr deal. We could end up losing SSS, Wallace, and Aiken all in one offseason, which means we should strongly consider a WR on day 2 as Zrebiec suggests

Wallace's contract is great for the Ravens. The 2017 year is essentially a team option, so its up to them to exercise it.

He plays well, you pick it up. He'd have an $8M cap hit, which would be reasonable for a player that plays well at that position. If he struggles or doesn't meet expectations, you can "cut" him, but also have the ability to sign him back due to the option. Instead of paying him $5.75M next season, maybe you pay him $3-4M on a new deal.

Plus, if he's really good, you can also look to sign him to an extension, since he would be 30 at the time. Keeping him for 2-3 years after that would be a good idea.

Pretty much, if he's gone, its because he sucked, not because he was good.

This draft is going to be interesting. And not just from a Ravens drafting 6th standpoint. So many things can and probably will happen in the first round and later rounds also.

I can even imagine the Browns trading up to the #1 spot if they want Wentz that bad. Chess not checkers. I heard where that happens and the Ravens trade up to #2 for Ramsey and the Titans still get Tunsil. Depends on the cost over value of the player. Crazy. I don't see the Ravens trading up for Ramsey when they should get a decent player. Anything is possible. I actually thought about trading up for Jack. Just one or two spots.

The only player even remotely worth trading up for would be Tunsil, which I can't see happening.

The Ravens will use their sixth-overall pick to select one of the following defensive playmakers: DB Jalen Ramsey (Florida State), OLB/DE Joey Bosa (Ohio State), LB Myles Jack (UCLA) or DE DeForest Buckner (Oregon). Only if two offensive players are off the board. Imagine if Myles Jack and Jaylon Smith were both healthy. Both are top five prospects. Top three. Not with Bosa and Buckner. Tunsil and a QB is the only way that's happening.

hey there Jacket..WR FA in the house . just thought I would extend a shout out. I agree that the deal looks good. Wish the Cap hit could have been lower, but guess that came with him. If he can produce its all good. I see that Philly picked up my choice (Randle for 1 yr, cheap too) so I ll keep my eye that. Anyway looks like Sr. is gonna get some of that heat drawn off of him Joe could have a big year coming.. looking forward to the draft. peace

If no QB is taken by the time the Ravens are on the clock, then don't be surprised if the Ravens go ahead and draft Wentz.

I don't think we will trade up at all. If we trade, we are going to go down to gain draft picks. Trading up will cost us some valuable draft picks in a pretty deep draft. If we stay put, we will still end up with a very good player regardless of what happens. If Ramsey, Jack, Bosa, Buckner, and Tunsil are all gone, then I would be very content with drafting Hargraves. Many "experts" have said he is arguably the best cover corner in the draft.
