Two words :"No touchdown"
Man, I love how you guys keep bringing that up. Did you not see the replays? I know you watched every one of them, just like I did, and I know you saw the ones where they clearly show the ball in Holmes' possession and breaking the plane. The ref did not explain it very well, but he got it right.
Touchdown. Steeler victory.
OT field goal. Steeler victory.
You may not like the result, but crying about it isn't going to change it.
Q. What three things do the Steelers have that the Ravens don't?
A. Two victories in the series this season and the league's number one defense.
Deal with it.

The reason you keep throwing out for your Ravens prediction is your defense. Well, guess what. your defense won't be the best one on the field on Sunday.
How many "pick six" does Reed have against Pitsburgh this year?
That's what I thought...
Here's why Roethlisburger had such a good game against the Chargers

So that's good news for the Steelers, since it's clear that Roethlisberger concussed the stupid part of his brain.
i actual like that....lol...it makes me chuckle
Have you guys lost sight of the word bold? They're very unlikely, yes, but they can happen if our team plays to it's strength. As you guys have experienced also, our offense has struggled. Our OL blocked, Ben played very well, and Parker ran well. If we play semi-decent offense I can see it happening.
I would rather make educated prediction not bold ones. This is the Ravens semi-decent offense won't get it done. You better have a season great if you expect to get 24 points on us, we are not the Patriots, Bengals, or the Texans defense.

That's what I thought...
the camera angle youre referring to was off-center with the end-zone line, so of course its going to show the ball crossing the plane because from that angle it looks like the ball goes over. however when you look from the sideline cam set at the end line the ball never CLEARLY crosses the goal line. The ball was ruled down, not a touchdown, and there was NO INDISPUTABLE EVIDENCE for the refs to be able to overrule the call. you could look at the video 100 times and 50% of the time youd say he was in and the other 50% youd say he was out. That being the case, the reviews cannot be used to say that he was in. Wether or not the refs were wrong in their initial call, they were COMPLETELY wrong by turning it over without conclusive evidence.

Q. What 3 things do the Ravens have that the Steelers dont?
A. (1)A rookie QB with 2 road wins in the playoffs (and 2 more to come)
(2) A defense that, despite losing Chris McCalister, Dawan Landry, Kelly Gregg, and numerous other high-calibur players STILL manages to pull a top 5 ranking year in and year out.
(3) Class. The Ravens don't need to pay off the refs to win games when it matters most. You can win by zebra in the regular season, but the Playoffs are where the best team comes out on top. And that's not the Squeelers.

our defense is only part of it anyway, Flacco has ice in his veins, and don't think for a second that he hasn't learned anything from his first two meetings with the Steelers. This time he's going to show you why anybody in Baltimore would take Flacco over Worthlessburger.

Anyway, you want a bold prediction, so here:

Squeelers:
Big Jen throws 1 TD in the 4th, to make up for the 2 Picks he'll throw early on.
Willie Parker will get 60 yards, and that's being generous on a Ghandi-like level. Oh, but he will fumble the ball once.
Ward will get 4 catches, including the TD
Holmes will get 2 for a forgetful performance, and his kick returns wont be of much help either.
Polamalu will be tackling all day long, but no picks or sacks for him.
Harrison will get the only sack of the day for Pitts, but it wont matter.
Whoever your kicker is, will get 2 field goals, but no game winners this time.

Ravens:
Flacco Will throw a TD early on, but will get picked 1 time less than Ben, which will be the difference.
McClain will run for 75+ yards, with McGahee and Rice tacking on an extra 40-50+
Mason will have his number called for 8 catches and good yardage (90+) but wont find the end zone because
Marc Clayton will connect on the deep ball for a score, but have little else come his way after that.
Todd Heap will pick up a few key first down throws, including another catch to set up the game winning field goal. speaking of which]
Matt Stover will kick 4 field goals, 2 will be under 30 yards, 1 will be around 35 yards (the game winner), and another will be at the edge of his range around 40-45 yards.
Jim Leonard will be overlooked and have a career day, with a pick, a sack, and another forced fumble.
Ed Reed will get a sack comin off a blitz but won't do much else because nobody will throw anywhere near him.
Samari Rolle will get the 2nd pick which will kill any momentum the Steelers had going into comeback mode.
Suggs will get a sack despite only playing on passing downs.
Lewis will make Parkers day miserable, wrappin him up all day long.
And the rest of the Ravens D will hit Ben so many times he'll never find consistency in his play.

final score:
19-13 RAVENS over The Pitts

well i was referencing the fact that we have like what is it now...20+ players? on IR and we're still takin down teams that everybody says are better than us (Philly, Cowboys, Titans, etc)

im not gonna say you dont have a great D, but I dont thinkk any D in the new millenium can match how good we've been for as long as it's been.

On a side note, I find it humorous how you argue No. 2 but overlook No. 3

that alone seems to speak volumes about the credibility of the Steelers wins over us this year :P

and i didnt argue number three because its crazy talk......im not going to get into an arguement over that.....it has been beaten to death

I didn't say that, I just said that if you averaged the stats of the defenses from 2000 until now, I don't think any team has done better on D than the Ravens.

and youre right, refs being paid off has been a card thats been played way too much. i said it mostly out of spite. the Titans game is the first one in recent memory where it seemed all the Zebras were on our side. So you gotta understand why we always complain about 'em. But yeah, the better team will win this game. That team is the Ravens.
Grats on beating an 8-8 football team at home. Obviously it really boosted your confidence.

We held the team with the best record in the NFL to 10 points. You guys got dominated by them by quite a bit earlier in the season.

And no, we're not any more injured now than we have been since the halfway point of the season.

I'm not going to make bold predictions or trash talk how we're going to beat you, considering I'm merely a fan and not a player, so I'll have nothing to do with the result of the game. However I do think you forgot the above facts.
I toooooootallly agree with you. Every Steeler Fan Should read this and shut up until everyone gets the results. What you're sayin is factual. The other facts are, they beat us twice becuse clearly had the games won,and let them slip away. The Steelers didnt do anything special. The Titans done it, The Cowboys and Dolphins almost pull it off. So, they haven't done anything that we didn't allow other teams to do. Basically, it's what its our Defense or Defensive play-calling didn't do, (execute/put the game away). Honestly, i think if pittsburg had a 13-0 lead at half-time, or any lead in the 4th quarter with less than 2mins left, they would win any game. But, to sit on here and guess what would happen and who will win, we will be debating until next football season. Bottomline, theres nothing to debate when facts are involved.

as far as all this freaking discussion about the refs and the previous games.. all i have to say is we all need to get over it. None of that matters now and will all be forgotten after this game. This game is all that matters!

We will play anyone, anywhere, anytime!

This game is going to be low scoring and all out smash mouth football! Can't wait.

Raven's prevail! Everyone knows the Ravens are the team that no one wants to face in the playoffs this year.

all I can say is that if you let the out come of the game to be decided by the refs then same on you. It was not the refs fault we let them drive 90+ yards to even get to a TD discussion. Let it go people!! it is what it is!!

Universal truth of any refereed sport #1:

Everybody gets the short end of the stick from the refs at some point, they are human they make mistakes. No fan complains about it when its in their favor, all fans complain when its against them. All will debate how much it effected the result of the game.

Move on with it everybody.

Mods. can we add a nuclear option to kill any thread that talks about ref mistakes for the next week or so?

First off the steelers are terrible at home in the afc championship. Secondly if they play anything like they just did against tenn. its going to be a long game for big ben. How do you get blown out in a game for home field advantage??? I mean at least Carolina took the Giants into overtime, the steelers just took it like a couple chumps. I definatly didnt see a #1 defense in that game. San Diego is not Baltimore by a long shot.

all pitt teams must be alike, as the pens lost to the flyers at the end of last season on purpose as to avoid playing the caps in the first round of the nhl playoffs... weak excuse... "and looks like we were right not to want it...we got to play san diego instead of you......and we let you and the titans beat up on eachother" <- I'm sure that's what the steelers players were thinking... that's a bunch of fan talk that means nothing -- the players wanted the #1, for sure... otherwise tomlin would have pulled players after the game got out of hand

you make your team sound pathetic, don't make excuse that puts your team down just say "they lost fair and square"

"but before the game the steelers said that they didnt really value first seed" I don't believe this at all, AFC champ game would go through Pitt even if the Titans would have won last Saturday.

i wasnt saying they threw the game....im not even saying we didnt want the game....what im saying is.....they felt that even if they lost it wasnt such a big deal....the titans saw it as a huge deal...i felt that the steelers didnt play up to the intensity of the competition....thats it

Why is it so hard to be a fan of one team but not be able to see the positives for the other side. Here is the simple truth why this might be the best year for the Ravens to make it to the SuperBowl.

1.) Like stated, your defense has been stout for many years, no one can deny that. But unfortunately, with all those years comes age. Your defense is on its downturn and whoever wants to argue that can, so be it. You still may have a good defense in the upcoming years, but it's hard to hope that it will be like the one you guys have had for the past 6 years. So this actually might be your best chance even as Flacco matures and the offense gets better.

2.) The Steelers defense is actually pretty young after all the moves they made last year and is more suited for a long term run vs the aging Ravens defense. It's been stated many times, but your defense is beat up while the Steelers are healed and young. A bad combination for you guys.

3.) Flacco has struggled against the Steelers and their blitz schemes.

4.) It's going to be a good game and Im not just saying this but I don't see any positives pointing for the Ravens besides their turnover causing defense.

Good luck to you Ravens and hopefully there are no longterm injuries in this hard hitting game coming up

Hey funky (Colts fan), I may have read your last post incorrectly, but if our Titans would have won against the Ravens on Saturday, the Steelers would be coming to Nashville for the Champ. game, we wouldn't have been going there. We blew it here, we blew the "road to the Super Bowl" goes through Nashville. :(

I have no clue who'll win between the Ravens/Steelers because I thought the Titans would win Saturday, LOL, so my prediction record isn't very good. But, I bet it'll be one of the best games of the year!

When I was a lurker here, I remember reading something brilliant somebody said on this board, like any team that lets itself get into a position where a bad call determines the outcome of a game has only itself to blame. I'll never forget that, and will never b*tch about a bad call ever again.

Thanks SteelersProphet, guess I didn't read it correctly. It's a moot point now anyway as far as my Titans are concerned. Now that our Titans are eliminated I still have to root for the AFC to win the Super Bowl and I think this will be a great, great game! Not as good as if it were the Titans/Steelers, LOL, but good nonetheless. ***ok, she now goes back to her empty blue hole and sulks a little more***. :P
