My draft Nightmare

117 posts in this topic

As of right now two players I would hate to see the Ravens draft with the 6th pick are Deforest Buckner and Ronnie Stanley. Unfortunately I see them going to the Ravens in various Mock Drafts!! What would be your least favorite pick the Ravens could realistically make in the first round?

Those 2 options would definitely be up there with my worst nightmares also that we trade down, which I think is a mistake to do unless it is with the 49ers to switch draft spots, and take someone like Ragland.

I've watched his tape, and he gets pushed out of plays constantly. He is very strong and athletic but lacks technique and I just feel like he won't be able to make in impact on the professional level, at least not right away. You've heard the FO talk about wanting an instant coffee pick o plug and play and I don't believe he's it. A few years down the road could he be a great player, I don't know, but we need someone who's ready now. I actually did a draft video on Buckner check it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svHMLbvAg6Q

I don't see a fit for him as a pass rusher

Worst scenario :

No pass rusher or cornerback in the first 3 rounds and same weaknesses hurt us all year

I like ragland but I don't think he's going to be the coverage guy we need. I would rather is find a coverage linebacker to pair with Mosley and watch them grow like we watched Lewis and Sharper/Boulware. I want to actually trade back. There are a lot of guys who will develop in this draft and unknowns who will make a name for themselves. Happens every year.

Draft will be here in 3 weeks I'm excited for the first times in years. I think we need this draft to really provide us with 5-7 future starters.

Seems like people are overthinking as the draft gets closer. Show me 1 play of Buckner getting pushed around and I'll give you a dozen plays where he completely dominated the offensive lineman. I see JJ Watt get pushed around on plays but that doesn't mean he's not the best defensive player in the NFL. Buckner has some very violent hands by no means is he perfect, but he's the best option for us at 6 if he falls.

Here is a much closer and in depth look at Buckner. You might watch.

He is one of the top five or six prospects in this draft.

The thing is there were more plays were he was pushed around than where he dominates. It would be almost impossible for any player to dominate on every play, but with JJ Watt he makes an impact more often than not and I just didn't feel the same way when watching Buckner play. That's just my opinion.

I'll make sure to watch it as soon as I get a chance. I doubt it'll make me believe he's a top five prospect but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I have 2 fears

1. that we do not trade back, please trade back FO

      a) I think there will be a lot  instant coffee in the 2nd rd

2. after we trade back we are not aggressive that we sit and wait for BPA

    B)  we  need to work this draft

Round 1.   Ronnie Stanley

Round 2.   Jaylon Smith

Round 3.   Braxton Miller

If we traded down in the 1st round to gain another 2nd I would take Jaylon Smith with the lower one.

He is currently ranging to be going anywhere from end of 1st to some mocks in the 4th ... Really will come down down to how his knee is.

drafting Henry

With Forsett Allen West Teliaferro Richardson we are loaded we are at RB, drafting another one high would be a mistake.

West and Richardson have reportedly worked hard to get in better shape this offseason.

Ron Stanley is going to be a monster in the nfl. Now that hebis graduated he can focus on football and the weightroom. He is already stronger than he looks. Just cuz he is not nasty yet is not conclusive  that he is not strong. Ask Leonard Williams who has pocket pushing power if Ron Stanley is not strong!! He bounced him around and threw him out of the club. He showed more aggression  that game like heboosted his game for the big challenge.

Haha well someone doesnt agree and negged me for saying that with those running backs I dont want to draft another one high.

Not sure if they are a Henry fan or just dont like our current runningbacks.

I want a RB that is a playmaker, not one that run upright and is just blah to me.  He might turn out to be a good RB, i just dont want him.

I want a Ray Rice player, Elliot can be that guy, but i dont want him at 6.  We need Defense, bad.

Sounds like we agree

Waiting until the last round to draft a wide receiver. Last time they did that it was or is a joke.

As a matter of fact I'd be PO'ed if they wait until day three to address the position.

I generally agree that a nightmare would be failing to address the defensive side of the ball early--particularly CB and pass rusher, unless we nab Jack and a top WR or OT in the second.

Players I pray we do not select in the first--not saying they're bad, but would rather have Bosa, Buckner, Hargreaves, Jack, Ramsey or Lawson: Elliot, Stanley, Ragland, or Treadwell.

I actually share your sentiments about Stanley and Buckner to a certain degree. I'd be unenthusiastic about drafting them, but not necessarily disappointed. I would rather trade down a bit and see who falls of the two, or just draft VH3.

--

Sort of on-topic, I actually had a real dream/nightmare a few days ago where we drafted a center at #6. All of the top-5 picks were really weird too, like no one drafted Tunsil, Ramsey etc. (I guess that makes it worse, considering we passed on them for a Center lol). The center we drafted was the younger brother of Stefen Wisniewski for some reason. And somehow we traded up into the middle of the first again to draft Marcus Peters, which I guess isn't so bad.

Anyway, that's my cool story for the day.

I feel this way about Stanley.  I know he would improve our line for years to come but he wont be an impact player from day one imo.
