You had to at least split that series with Boston, but a 4 game sweep is exactly how you don't make the playoffs.  Not that the pitching has been fantastic by any means, but the bats are responsible for this one.  Zero discipline at the plate.

I'll go with both, when in reality, we're somewhere in the middle of that.  Pre-AS break had all of the bats clicking at once, and post-AS break had none of the bats clicking at all really.  Weird season.  Hopefully we can still manage to snag a spot in the play-in game and pray that the pre-AS shows up for the playoffs.

The real sad thing is that the sweep against the Red Sox all but ensured that the Orioles will not make the playoffs.

If they were going to make it, they'd need to sweep the D-Backs AND the Jays.

And if they don't Buck is GONE! I hold him accountable they have spent big bucks on these players. The Renewed Chris Davis contract,,Matt Wieters contract They spent big Bucks bringing Trombo here And remember Kim threaten he going back to Japan if he doesn't make it on the team and Buck let him get away with it.. I tell Kim if you don't accept the trip to minors then you're gone and we take back that 7 million..  And if they don't get in playoffs BUCK IS GONE!

A few things. 

1. Chris Davis is playing exactly how you'd expect. Striking out 200 times, not taking walks, smacking 30+ home runs. The amount of money they spent had a lot to do with his power and not really much else.

2. They traded for Trumbo and I think gave up just Hunter, who is back with the team. He was never expected to amount to this.

3. I don't think the Orioles expected Wieters to accept their offer. That was literally the first time a player has ever done that. I don't even know if the Orioles wanted him back.

4. Kim's contract was no negotiated by Buck, so Kim's right to refusal should be pointed at Duquette. But considering he has the Highest BA and OBP, it's looking like it was wise to be patient.

When I went to those two minor league (AAA) games, Trey Mancini was one of the few hitters that really stood out. Glad to see he's proving his worth in the majors, too.

He should win AL MoY. The expectations were dirt and now they may make the playoffs with one of the worst starting rotations in the MLB, which he has actually brought to relevance here in the second half.

OK who in the blue hell projected tampa to be that good. And cleveland was in no way predicted to be division winners this season, maybe not even playoff calibur.
