[News] Late For Work 4/1: Ravens 7-Round Mock Draft

70 posts in this topic

I'm crossing my fingers and toes that Bosa is there come our turn on the clock. But.....if not "in Oz we trust!" has always been a winning formula, so, come draft day loading up on wings and brew and see what Oz and Eric will do! GO RAVENS!

BTW, love the new website format, looks great and easy to navigate. The only thing missing is the like/disagree button.... as it is now you have to go to forums to use that function. :)

I can see the Henry pick with him may be being the best player left on the board and he's from Alabama but if Jackson III, Whitehair, one of the 3-6 best Tackles Spence or Jaylon fall that far I hope we take Defence or O-Line pretty much all through the draft.

I like the Derrick Henry pick in the 2nd round. Love that kid! Would love to see him in Purple.

I love his game as well, but with Richardson signing soon, i doubt we would do this as we could use our high 2nd rounder on a need player.....But, we never know what Oz will do until he does it.....:)

Henry is big guy that will punish defense that's why. I know we already have running backs but not one like him! He would be worth a 2nd round pick otherwise I am for all Defensive picks.

"He is on the Buffalo Bills' staff as the Assistant Defensive Backs coach, and he plans to keep his focus there for now" I'll NEVER understand why Ravens did not hire him as BAD as the Ravens secondary has been the last 3 years. Once you leave the Ravens DON'T ever come back under any circumstance or reason. There too conceited to be humble.

Probably because Harbs and Reed knew their egos would clash, as Reed is very out-spoken....JMO...

Did you not see the Harbs interview where he spoke about Reed. I don't believe there is too much congeniality there. Rex is willing to live with Reed's vagaries, but Harbaugh is a disciplinarian and unlikely to be comfortable with Reed's eccentricities especially as a position coach! Sad, but it is what it is. Good luck to Reed btw.

Please stop with the running backs. Why waste a pick on a position we don't need.

One thing to remember before shooting the Henry pick down is our ZBS just got really tough because cut blocking is illegal now. So, we may need to alter our RB scheme to fit the new NFL and that means power running is an option. So schematically it gives us flexibility.

Just visualize this. It is the 4th quarter in a close game and we don't want their offense back on the field because we are driving for a FG win. Their defense is tired and we unleash Henry on them in the 4th quarter. I don't think I need to elaborate any more. Lastly it doesn't mean I like picking a RB in the 2nd round, but I would completely understand the pick.

I did, and i also read where he said there was a time they didn't speak for a week over a disagreement...That is a red flag, when your coach won't even speak to you when he was a player....I love Reed, and his wealth of knowledge would be great to have.....And Reed could also be a tad bit bitter when we didn't resign him, i am sure he wanted to go out like RL52, as a Raven for life...JMO...

We hired Leslie Frazier and I don't believe we are a conceited organization.

Cut blocking is legal, chop blocking is illegal. The difference between the cut and the chop is outlined well in this article. At the end of the day the rule change really won't affect our offense that much.

Lets see...a proven back field coach or a 1st timer who has never coached. As much as I love Ed Reed ( hes my all time fav) Ive got to go with Fraiser.

I liked this draft besides the Henry pick. A RB in the second would be okay, but not him.

If we take him....i will not be happy at all

i seriously think he is available, since he will be hard to take over Tunsil at 1 and Dallas is the only other viable spot, but i heard they are really coveting Ramsey, Jack and Lawson.

Not a fan of that mock at all past the first pick! Henry runs too upright and will end up being a slightly improved Jacobs 2.0 and he would be more productive in Dallas if I had to bet. Not taking a corner early again would be a mistake too, even though I like Schobert, i am not the biggest fan of taking him in the third.

Also, Harrison is by far the most bias analysts and just has this cocky smug attitude that drives me crazy when i read any of his posts. I was happy to see Reed made the list, but to proclaim that Butkus is better than Ray is absurd. lmao

I'm no expert, but a pro bowl type RB would help us in the AFC North. We have Quantity over Quality in most of our units.

My wish list ranked in order per round if avail. (Rd 4 thru 7 use for OL and S)
• DE Joey Bosa RD 1
• DE DeForest Buckner 1
• CB Vernon Hargreaves III 1
• RB Ezeklel Elliot 1
• CB William Jackson III 2
• DE Noah Spence 2
• DE Emmanuel Ogbah 2
• WR Josh Doctson 2
• WR Sterling Shepard 3
• WR Braxton Miller 3
• RB Alex Collins 3
• CB Cyrus Jones 3
• OT Kyle Murphy 4
• OLB Jaylon Smith 4 (if avail)

on NFL.COM there is a headline with Derrick Henry saying he has trouble keepng on his weight. http://www.nfl.com/derrickhenry If we pick him we should pair him up with Trent Richardson. Trent can't keep the weight off and Henry can't keep the weight on so put them together and maybe they both can maintain their weight.

Not a fan of that mock at all. They are over valuing all 3 OLB, two of which are too short and slow for the position, while ignoring the need for an ILB. The guard from Boise at the top of the 4th is way too high for an injury proned not technically sound lineman. They seem to be undervaluing the CB Canday and OT Murphy a little bit. Not to mention how ridiculous selecting Henry at #36 would be.
Here's a better mock:

6. Myles Jack ILB UCLA
36. Jason Spriggs OT Indiana
70. Charles Tapper DE/OLB Oklahoma
104. Javon Hargrave DT/DE South Carolina State
130. D.J. White CB Georgia Tech
132. Spencer Drango OT/OG Baylor
134. Charone Peake WR Clemson

Talk about immaturity there is a report on Baltimore Beatdown that says Joey Bosa would hold out if drafted by the Ravens because John Harbaugh's brother Jim coaches at Michigan and Joey played at Ohio State. Really? Please don't waste money on this guy. Other articles indicate he has reached his ceiling. Any one but Joey is fine with me. I have never liked John Elway for same reason.

"but the Ravens already have an incredibly crowded backfield with Justin Forsett, Javorius Allen, Lorenzo Taliaferro, Terrance West and (soon to be) Trent Richardson in the mix."

.. and Terrance Magee has also signed his tender.

A list of the Top 10 defensive players of all time and Ray Lewis isn't on it? What a joke.

I think we will draft a CB in Rounds 1-3.
