[News] Late For Work 3/31: C.J. Mosley Ready To Lead

42 posts in this topic

Pressure Williams all off-season to get a deal done. With our luck, on top of being a run game destroyer and space eater, he will probably end up racking up +6 sacks to add to his value if he were to go unsigned

I would say put the "ready to lead" talks aside and let the guy prove it on the field. I guess we can all remember how one of the recurring themes of the 2014 off-season was how Matt Elam looked ready to lead the secondary... fellow players, coaches, he himself, pundits all heralded him in unison, how he had grown to be the true leader in the pre-season - and then the 2014 season happened, in which he, after a promising rookie season, completely disappeared...

That said, I'm quite confident Mosely will continue to grow and won't disappoint - but let him prove himself - he has what it takes to do so.

Both those guys are the reason I chose #57 for myself when our female gridiron team finally got their jerseys. C. J. Mosley is an inspiring young player who plays my position and O. J. Brigance deserves so much respect for his perseverance and positive attitude. I like fighters.

"I'm ready to be back," Mosley said during an interview with WBAL radio. "I'm ready to lead the team. It's time to go."

MAN, this is music to my ears!!! I would really love if Ray came back during training camp and assisted this young man.

I agree. However, I expect that Mosley won't be asked to play ILB, but some OLB and maybe tackle or some SS as well to help out where needed. Elam was not as good a player as Mosley was coming into the league, nevertheless, he was promising and did alright his rookie year. I think that the shifting from position to position and not sticking with one thing that he could learn to his full potential is what destroyed him as a player and why he had such a steep sophomore slump.

Mosley will not be a vocal leader, but a leader none the less. He is a lot like Flacco in that he is quiet and not boisterous in his leadership.

I agree it may be a little pre-mature but his first two seasons he's "proven" himself to the coaches that he has what it takes to be the defensive leader on the field.  Not many 2nd year players are given the responsibility of play calling on defense and that's what he did all season last year.  As long as he stays healthy this kids is going to be great!

I agree man, have to try everything and anything possible to get a deal done now bc if he makes it to FA next season he will get big money and unfortunately it might not be with the Ravens and we can't afford for that to happen!

He might not be all that different style of a leader as Buck (Daryl Smith) was. Daryl wasn't a flashy leader, but he was a leader nonetheless.

Why would they put Mosley at tackle or SS? That doesn't make sense. He did come off the edge a few times to rush the passer but the guy is an ILB through and through.

We are pretty thin at ILBer, hopefully we can draft one who can compliment C.J, if Orr. or AB doesn't step up, or i could see us playing a lot more 4-3....If Robert Nkemdiche falls in the draft i could see us picking him as insurance with Williams future with us is unsure....

I have seen the "we are not going to be able to work out a contract" statement before and it usually means that we aren't going to make the effort to keep the guy. That's a darn shame. Brandon Williams was a bright spot that has been few and far between the last 3 years. He is also a great guy that has done a ton in the community and I know that because my fiancee works for a non-profit that Williams and Gillmore have spent considerable time with children with developmental and behavioral disabilities. That said, at pick 6 they may look to Buckner or some other D-Line position if they move back because you will need someone in the system to replace Williams for a year before they can excel. If you remember it took a year before Williams became dominant in the middle. If we are moving on, and it seems like we are, and I don't like the decision, then we better get his replacement this year because next year Williams will be gone and we don't have that year for another player to excel in the position, if they even will.

I think you spend high picks on CB and pass rush DEs. They cost you the most on the open market. ILBs and S are like Fullbacks and O-Guards these days. The way teams pass, pass, pass you need to play the pass first. Never would have said that 10 years ago.

That's not even remotely what it means.

It means we know that Williams isn't likely to sign any deal we offer him, because it doesn't make a ton of sense for him to do so. This entire concept has very little to do with the Ravens desires or wants whatsoever. Its more about Steve understanding the business side of the NFL, and knowing that it doesn't make much sense for a player like him to sign a deal before 2017.

I can guarantee we won't be getting a Williams replacement this year. Far too many positions that need replacing and upgrades that are needed over replacing a quality NT who is as likely to be here as he is to leave.

This is the fifth year in a row in which NFL.com's writers have ranked the divisions, and it's the first time since 2012 that the NFC West has not taken the top spot.

which is nonsense since we put 3 teams in the playoffs AGAIN, in 2014. but whatever

Damn he better learn how to cover first, before he can lead the defense. Toasted by too many RBs and TEs last year.

That's why a pass rusher is so important a need for us. The opposing QB's are having to much time to let their underneath guys get open, even when the secondary is covering deep well.

This article and the many others the Ravens media staff puts out is doing a really good job of getting us Ravens fans pumped for the upcoming season.

Did that last year too.

My latest mock draft :
1. Ramsey
2. Goff
3. Jack
4. Wentz
5. Buckner
6. Ravens Tunsil

The only one of those picks I see panning out is a QB to Cleveland.

I can't see a scenario where Dallas takes a QB or Tunsil falls out of the top 5.

And the easiest division - well, just ask the Pats!

Hasn't been that way for quite awhile, and definitely wasn't last season.

I'd be asking any team in the AFC or NFC South. Those divisions haven't been good in several years.
