[News] Who Will Start Next To C.J. Mosley?

64 posts in this topic

Too many options to not try all of them. In the draft, you could get Deion Jones or Erick Striker and put them in the middle, you could also, draft Miles Killbrew and do the same. Jack should be available at #6 but you never know. As a stretch I wouldnt mind seeing Trawick come back and possibly filling that role. The kid did have size and could be a thumper on the outside. May be a bit better covering TEs and RBs then WRs though. Still, we have options.

I think its time Mr. Arthur Brown steps up, He was great at Kanasa State, And would pair perfectly with Mosley.

The person that starts next to Mosley will be the one that wins the competition to start next to him. That is the Ravens mantra, always is and always will be.

I agree with you, but do you really think he's ready to fill that position?

Image having Myles Jack and Noah Spence on our team then trade back in the second round and get the best CB/S available. I would be a happy camper. ?

Myles Jack, Noah Spence, resigning Upshaw (l wish) along with Suggs, Dumervil, Mosley, Brandon Williams, Timmy Jernigan, Lawrence Guy, L Smith. That's a solid front seven to have.

You know, im honestly not so sure, if he spends the time studying the film like he should and puts the work in, on and off the field especially with the playbook... I dont see why not. The Athletic ability and Instincts are there, he just needs too study!!

Reggie Ragland

Alabama tough, however, all the highlight films that I've seen of him, shows him tackling the runner from behind. I haven't really seen the smash and stop for no yards tackle.

How is this even possible? There's no way for us to get Myles Jack AND Noah Spence AND the option to trade back in the 2nd round.

I would say A. Brown, but he rarely played and did not do much when on the field. I also think the Ravens need more of a physical presence at safety. If Su'a Cravens, or Miles Killebrew are available maybe one of those hydrid safety/LB can cover better and still tackle.

If the Ravens don't draft somebody for the MLB position; which I think is highly unlikely because if Jack falls to us I think he's our pick unless the Ravens don't like that knee injury, then it is Zach Orr's job to lose and rightfully so. He looked pretty good out there last season and showed the athleticism in coverage that we so desperately need at that position. Everyone knew how to attack the Ravens defense last season. Right down the middle because they knew Smith couldn't cover anyone. We also don't really have any OLB that are good in pass coverage. I know in our defense our OLB are rushing the QB, but for schemes and disguised blitzes it might be nice to have somebody that can cover a bit.

The possibility of Jack and Spence being drafted 1&2 then trading back into second for a dB could happen by trading a 3rd and 4th I believe depending on where in the second rd. And scooby wright is more soap thumper rather than the type of lb were looking for.

I trust our coaching staff on whomever they feel fits best. As for now, it seems the hole left by Smith is pretty big. However, this is not unfamiliar territory for us. We've been here before with the departure of Ray Lewis. Also with the departure of Bart Scott. I could go on and on if need be, but you guys get the point. Our staff in Baltimore is consistent when it comes to filling holes with "next man up." With our defensive front being in great shape with Williams, Jernigan, Suggs and Elvis, that front with the addition of a possible Buckner or the Ohio State product Joey Bosa. Maybe with a possible second round pick in Noah Spence, No Quarterback would want to face the Ravens front. With that being said, a defensive front like that makes CJ's job easy. As fast as he is from side to side he will be able to clean up. The same goes for whoever plays next to CJ. With Williams eating up multiple blockers, whoever plays the spot will pretty much have free roam. Kind of like when way Ray Lewis petitioned for Nagta. Again, I can't take my hat off enough to our front office.

Has Arthur Brown ever played any meaningful snaps on defense? I'll have to check the archives because he must have been all-time bad for a team to give up on a 2nd rounder so quickly.

I'm going to keep saying it... sign Zach Brown, he's underrated and will come cheap for us. In our system he has potential to be pretty good. If not then draft one in the middle to later rounds

Whats his story? Is he a RFA? does he have any offers or is he being shopped. DO you think that the Ravens can get him at a certain price and for what kind of deal? give us some details

Myles Jack would be a good pick up to play beside Mosley. Incredible cover skills and speed is off the hook. Not a big run stuffer and could actually play a safety spot in short yardage when you have Mosley and Orr out there in the middle when the offense is in a jumbo/three tight end sets. However, as he heals his draft stock is rising and some mocks now have him going before the Ravens and Bosa falling to us. I am not a big Bosa fan but if we trade back, depending how far back, Reggie Ragland is a great option.

Myles Jack is too good to be there at 6. Unless teams really dont trust his knee I dont see him being there. Would be ideal though.

@757RavensFan it can be possible if we pick Myles Jack at number 6 (if he makes it) and Noah Spence in the 2nd round (if he makes it as well LOL). I was just kidding about the CB/S part. I don't know how much to give if we were to trade back in the 2nd round to get a CB/S so l not really sure there.

The answer is in the draft. If Ramsey doesnt fall to 6, or Bosa, Myles Jack could and should be a logical selection. Franchise type ILBr who is also a jack of all trades type can rush the passer, and cover too. Ravens never had 2 guys since the 2001 defense with Jamie Sharper, Ray Lewis, .. after that it was always Ray.. and a rotation of others he turned into stars that got paid elsewhere but failed.

Well now you get a Myles Jack.. with Mosley.. we can have what the Niners had before half their defense retired. Pat Willis, Navarro Bowman.. or look at Carolina with Kuechly and Thomas Davis..

But even if they dont select Jack in top 10.. they have to get a ILBr at some point.. whether maybe Reggie Raglund falls into second round and Ozzie scoops him up, or 1 of the 2nd-4th round ILBr prospects like Kendrell Brothers,Scooby Wright, Benquez Golson or something from Miss st, so he has to get someone

He's never played significant snaps on defense. Big time flop.

If we don't get Jack, resign Upshaw, and move him inside, and AB outside.....

Are you kidding? That would be the worst thing you could do. Upshaw has no speed and no covering ability. He'd make a horrible MLB.
