Steelers Trips Bunch Formation

9 posts in this topic

That thing killed us in both previous games and it killed San Diego on Sunday too. Does anyone see how we can stop it? My only guess is to bring Ed Reed down into the heart of it and let him read Ben's eyes and then see if Ben is brave enough to still throw it. But if we do that then we risk a deep pass. What do you all think?

u can't blitz it cuz it's usually a quick throw.
and overloading a side with receivers can destroy a cover 2 and even a tampa 2

make ben throw to the one receiver side...the trips side is gonna be crossing and setting picks. overload the trips side and jam the receivers man on and shade the top with ed reed a couple steps behind the man to man players to pick up the open man coming off the screen. and Drop a LB to the middle of the field to read and react. and let the other LB spy the QB cuz ben will take off if a guy is not open fast enough in the trips formation and let the best shutdown corner man up on the one reciever side!

now if they deciede to run outta the trips formation it will have to be to the single reciever side in which they will prolly send the receiver deep and give the RB the option to pass if the corner flys in on the run. The DB must stay on his man. the D-END, LB at qb spy, and LB dropping back to read and react will be responisble for making a tackle on willie parker.

run this out of a four man front and we should be good.

I'm sure jim and they boys came up with something....
but that's prolly how i would do it on madden.

also i think we should throw the trips bunch at them as well to see how they defend it to get some pointers as well....if they know how to defend it.
mirror them and see how the stillers react. :D

I would like to see a LB or Safety jump some of those quick slants to the middle. It seems like we play soft middle coverage and let them get those passes.

we have the corners playing ten yrds off. we need to jam the recievers.

We can't jam the receivers because thats exactly what the trips bunch is designed to prevent. You have no idea where they are going to go and if you bring all your corners up close it will create natural picks with our own defenders as they chase their guy around.

If you are talking about in general pass defense we need to jam the receivers then I totally agree with that. Although our corners are a little small to be doing that a lot.

jam and the guys coming off the pick is covered by ed reed! 4 DB'S on the three receiver side. that's what my post was about. I don't see zone working against the bunch where they could cew us up by nickeling and dimeing us. overload with an extra DB.

and what's preventing us from swithching men like in the nba on screens?

and i don't think we have to jam in overalls pass defense....cuz if we are in a zone coverage 10yrds off is fine because the DB is just suppose to keep everything in front of him and that's on the LB'S

but in man coverage we should play 5yrds off instead of 10.
