Mcgahee Vs Mcclain

16 posts in this topic

I myself would luv to see McGahee get (20) carries McClain get (10), and Neal get (3), rice (5).....I think McGahee has much more big play ability as a featured back then McClain....One big play could be the difference in this game....Start them both fullback/Tailback....I just don't think the Neal, and McClain combo have enough wiggle to be the most effective in a 4 quarter AFC championship game for us...... Soooo I'm basically pleading for the ravens to RUN MCGAHEE and let him get in a rhythm...............

Peace Ravens Family

To hell with the Steelers......

I think if McClain is still dinged up it could spell doom for the Ravens. Generally speed backs like McGahee (I know he's not a typical "speed" back, but he's certainly not a power back either) stuggle against the Steelers D. The Steelers D is just too fast for those types of back to get to the edge. The two times that the ball was run with some effectiveness against the Steelers this year was @ Tennessee and @ Baltimore. In both of those games the big backs (White and McClain) ran with some effectiveness by running right at the Steelers blitzing defense.

I, personally, hope everyone, on both teams, is healthy for this game. I'd hate to hear excuses from the Ravens fans after the Steelers W.

GO STEELERS.

I agree with the Steelers fan.
with our interior line, we should be able to exploit the Steelers 3-4 D and get 3 or 4 yards consistently straight up the middle. But we'll only be able to get that done with McClain. McGahee doesn't have the power to push the pile to get that extra yard or so.

This is probably one of the only defenses where I believe Mcclain is better for the start. If our O-line can handle there front, this leads Mcclain getting a lot of 3-4 yard power carries against there tough run defense which are important in a game like this so we can hopefully wear them down with Mcclain's power.

We need both McGahee and McClain to carry the load, as well as Rice. We are coming up on a tough game sunday and we need all hands on deck. :o

I would go with McClain to start off the game, but McGahee's seriously been showing off some good skill in the pas tcouple of games...i think he should get more playing time as well...Rice is pefect for a shotgun formation, 3rd downs, or a screen as stated before. If we can utilize them right, we should be able to do good this game.

I don't think it is a question of who is going to carry the ball as much as it should be a question as to why we tell the other team every time we are going to run. Every single time we run the ball we do one of two things, put a man in motion or announce 78 as eligible. Then we wonder why we get the run blitz. Putting a man in motion , and never using him for a pass is just showing where were running the ball. Call out 78 as a receiver and never throwing him the ball does the same thing. Both will work when they are used once in a while , but after 16 games , it just announces your play. Same as running a draw play after a close completion. Mr Cameron is showing tendencies and if I have noticed you can be sure Pitt has.

Need to change the mix before we have another run run run punt game.

I disagree. I think Mcclain needs to be the pounder to wear down the Steelers D.. then in the 2nd if we dont have success and 3rd if we do bring out Mcgahee and Rice so they can break through for the big run. Its smart to use Mcclain first, hes your bruiser. Mcgahee is who you use when you want points within the 30 or 20 and Rice when you want the big run play.

I'm going to be honest, I don't want Rice carrying the ball under any circumstances this game. I only want him on screens and passes.

He hasn't play in what? A month?

Pound, Pound, Pound, McGahee's due, McClain's a beast.

Set up the pass and catch Capt' Dick (Lebeau) when he's napping.
