[News] Late For Work 3/22: Torrey Smith Offers Opinion On Mike Wallace Taking Over Speedy Role

47 posts in this topic

Not much in the mood regarding FA, still pretty shook up with the passing of Tray.....I know the show must go on, and i am sure it's not easy for the FO to focus during this time. I can only hope once Tray is laid to rest, some closure can be found with their family, and the RAVEN Family....

I feel like Ryan Clady would be a lateral move from Monroe with a higher price. Hasnt Clady basically missed the last 2 seasons with injuries. Also Browns going after RG3 makes no sense, he's a totally different style QB then Wentz and Goff.

Let's get that front line shored up! No good having fast receivers if the QB is running for his life all the time.

The Browns are only deploying smoke screens at this point too. They are taking Goff, who is much more polished and they need a quality QB. They just want to provide the illusion that they are taking a defensive player so that they can either find a trading partner with a team that wants Ramsey, Bosa, or Tunsil, or to ensure no one else trades up to take Goff.

The Wizard will bide his time to see if Clady is released, then he will stir the pot.

Wallace will be very similar to what Torrey brought to the team. He is fast and can take the top off of a defense. Perriman should be a little more of a weapon... especially in the red zone... but together they will open up the run game and open up room for Steve Smith to do a lot of damage underneath... along with a great TE corps.

AGREE! That is what has rarely been brought up. Wallace and Watson moves will mean nothing if Flacco doesn't have the time to throw. Good point.

IMO I think we have a better set of receivers then in 2012. I'll take Wallace, Perriman , Smith , Watson & Aiken over Smith, Jones, Pitta Boldin any day. The Ravens get healthy I think they could have a major bounce back season. I mean the schedule will be a lot easier , u know they will have a stellar draft and that eye of the tiger. I could see winning the AFC North and going deep in the playoffs. I'm not being a homer either.

Haha, now Torrey can sure talk with authority about playing with QB's that can't throw the ball to you deep enough... :D

Do I recall that the leasing contract of the M&T Bank Stadium doesn't make it possible for the Ravens to play any home games anywhere else than the Bank - so, if the Ravens are to play any games in London (or Germany, Mexico, Brazil, China or the Moon) it can only be a road game (pun not intended)?

First I shook m,y head when i read the Collingsworth projects the Titans go after a QB - WHT??? - but now I see he's projecting a trade there. While i don't subscribe to the idea the anybody is gonna trade up to the top spot, at last there's a decent mock that at least tries to anticipate trades...

Agreed, also think perriman will surprise some when both he and Wallace are on the field together... Assuming the deep safety will lean towards Wallace until perriman proves they shouldn't. Not only would Wallace help underneath and the run game; he may allow perriman to have a very good start next season

since when did anything the Browns do make sense?  And I agree with you on Clady is just a lateral move.

I was thinking of agreeing with you but then I looked at Perrimen being a virtual unknown and Wallace has no timing with Flacco (sometimes what looks like it should work just doesn't) and I would for sure take Boldin over Aiken. But... Wallace and Perrimen together with Smith Sr. and Watson Could be the best group of all time. It will be very interesting (and fun to watch) if they all gel.

I think that has been the sticking point with the F.O. We want to play over there but we don't want to give away a home date. I agree with that stance.

Maxx Williams is the guy we are sleeping on. He is a mismatch for everyone and has great hands. I expect year 2 to be much more successful.

I don't see the Ravens getting involved with Clady...Monroe is o.k. at LT when he's healthy, and Clady seems just as injury prone. My thinking is they go after defense with the 6th pick(Bosa,Ramsey,Jacks) and draft an o-lineman in 2nd or 3rd. I guess if Broncos release Clady the Ravens could take A look, but doubtful of A trade.

Also I don't buy the notion that the first 2 picks are going to be QBs. Chris Collinsworth has an active imagination and loves being a contrarian. As much as I would love for this scenario to occur (for obvious reasons), I don't think it will. It is in fact more probable that no QBs will be taken before we pick especially considering the Browns are close to signing RGIII. They may still go QB, but chances are reduced they will.

I want to see Ozzie pick to get on the field and see his speed......if he still has it. "Breshad Perriman seems to have surpassed that mark at UCF’s Pro Day, running the 40 in 4.22"

There are a lot of unknowns with this group. I'd say that SSS, at 37 and coming off an achillies tear, is just as much of an unknown at this point as Perriman. If Perriman lives up to his potential and SSS can play anywhere close to the level he played at last year, this group will definitely be better than 2012. If Perriman loses his speed and quickness from not being able to train all offseason, like Jimmy Smith did last year, and SSS isn't able to bounce back, our WR corps won't be very good at all. Let's hope for the former, and we still may draft another WR or add another FA, depending on who gets cut.

While I think RGIII can regain his previous form. I do think Cleveland will have a hard time risking everything on him at this point. I would not be surprised to see them start RGII and still draft a QB to learn behind him at least for a bit. From what I've read and seen the QB's this year are good and some ready to start but not necessarily do everything. Giving any of them you like, so time to develop and not be forced could go a long way and get them out of their QB sinkhole. At a point you think your new QB is ready then RGIII becomes your backup and solid one at that. And if RGIII makes it impossible to take him off the field then your still set. Would be better than all your eggs in a single basket as the Browns have done in the past.

I really don't see how the Ravens could release Monroe without signing another LT first. As unreliable as Monroe has been, we simply don't have another starting LT right now.

I don't think there's any chance that happens
