The NFL should allow players to smoke for pain and good sleep, it's better than majority of these pain pills they allow that does kidney and liver damage, etc. I don't smoke because my job doesn't allow it but my job doesn't come with tremendous pain either, then just maybe I would need it just for a good night's rest.

There is a slight problem to your theory and that is the fact that Marijuana is still illegal as a national crime under federal law, despite what individual states have ruled. So the NFL saying it is okay really doesn't matter when it is a federal crime.

I thought about that part of it as being a problem as well, but the NFL wouldn't say it's ok to do it they just simply would stop testing for it and just test for the hard drugs as well as performance enhancers. But a more cleaner solution would be to let players get evaluated and prescribed if recommended. I'm not a pot advocate, just wondering the best way for them to deal with pain besides these other organ damaging drugs, being pot may be the slight of the group.

And there are guys that do the dirty work a lot better than Upshaw did. Namely the guy he replace in Jarrett Johnson. The Ravens got Pernell McPhee with a late pick like you bring up for some reason. You do know that Upshaw was a second round pick, not a late pick gem?

I'd take my chances on a 3rd or 4th round pick to replace Upshaw in a heartbeat.

I'd take a late flyer. He wasn't that special (Upshaw). But if (Sua Cravens) is there in the middlings I'm on it. So to reaffirm your statement, your absolutely correct. Dudes a pick magnet/machine. Not that your advocating for Cravens. I am.

So the thinking is that it's better to lose a reliable player like Upshaw so we can get a comp 5th round pick who only plays special teams? Gimme a break.

Upshaw isn't worth the money. Zadarius will be on the field a lot more next year. He already shows a ton of promise in his brief playing time.

If we can draft Jack" of all trades" we will okay at ILBer....

I would love this move, but I think he will be gone by 6

Or maybe not. Titans will almost definitely draft Tunsil. Very possible and smart move if the Browns draft a QB. Rumor has it the Cowboys might take Zeke Elliott. He's been climbing up draft boards. Especially after what Gurley proved that he should have been drafted earlier. I don't think the Cowboys have made any moves as far as bringing in a RB. That leaves Ramsey, who I think doesn't make it past the Jaguars. I think the Chargers take him. Bosa, Buckner, Jack, and Hargreaves with two other picks before the Ravens. It's even possible for the Chargers to draft OL. I don't like to take a CB that early and don't feel it's a big need as some people. But Hargreaves is a top ten pick and I think he's going to be a shut down CB.

I liked the Upshaw pick as much as the KO pick and I was right. Upshaw isn't a three down LB but he's been solid. He's come up with some nice plays in big games for the Ravens. Big OLB's that hit like a truck don't fall off trees. With that being said, if he does bolt for the Jets or Colts? Ravens should be able to get a 3rd round comp pick for KO. I think they draft a few LB's with nine picks. ILB is their biggest need IMO. OLB is another, especially wondering how longer Suggs is going to play and the loss of Upshaw? DE and OT. Ravens only have seven DL and one is a practice squad player. Ravens should be able to find an OT in the 2nd round like they found KO. Or maybe even 3rd or 4th rounds. Ravens have four 4th round picks. Usually you find players that will contribute in the first four rounds, even if it's just to provide depth. You hope you get lucky in rounds five through seven. Arthur Brown should see the field this year with the departure of Daryl Smith.
