Flacco And Offense Needs To Improve.

63 posts in this topic

Flacco and offense needs to improve this week if they have any chance of winning. I'm pulling for the Ravens but I'm a little concerned with the offense the last few weeks. Yea the Ravens scored 30 last week against Miami but the defense did most of the scoring in that game. This week one big play, that's it, nothing else. If it wasn't for Tennessee turning the ball over the Ravens would be watching this Sunday. The offense needs to move the ball and score points.

Pittsburg's offense looked good this past Sunday and shown they can score points. Please I don't want Pittsburg in the Super Bowl, can't stand the Steelers. Their defense can be scored upon, P. Rivers had a good day passing and if Flacco can do the same, Baltimore has a good chance winning.

Flacco and the Ravens offense needs to get on track or it will be a long Sunday evening.

I agree that they need to improve, but I will say that I am very impressed with their lack of turn overs. If they can play okay offense without turning the ball over and good defense we win.

I agree, but I mean our boys on defense looked plain tired against the Titans. I hope they get that 2nd wind and come out and shut down Willie Parker. As for the Offense, they need to do just enough not to give the game away.
I hear what you're saying however with our defense, our offense has time to improve.
you have one game to improve, I'm not sure the time frame your thinking of.

It's hard to improve when you don't make any mistakes. Flacco has to deal with whatever situation Cam is putting him and he makes the most of it. The 50 yard TD strike he made came on 3rd and 14 i believe. He doesn't get sacked, he's not throwing picks. Cam just needs to smarten up and fix the playcalling. Running the ball up the middle twice to set up a 3rd and long is not the most brilliant idea, nor does it help us get some first downs. This is virtually the same offense we ran 5 years ago with Matt Cavanaugh, and just thinking about that guy gives me a headache. Let Flacco make some plays, don't treat him like a baby.

And yeah, Pittsburghs offense looked good. They played one of the worst defenses in football so that's no surprise.

this is the NFL championship game. If the offense can not get it together by now, it probably won't.

With that said, I am not too worried about it. They don't turn the ball over and last time I checked Flacco drove the team down the field enough for the game clinching FG against the Titans, who have a very good defense also.

The Ravens are approaching their 3rd game against the Squeelers and are battle tested and hungry.

They will come to play!

THe steelers better watch out!

I haven't seen a offense yet from the Ravens the last fee weeks but if you guys are not worried then I'll believe you and hope for the best.
I know do not turn the ball over mean a good bit but you still need to score.

Well, the Ravens never had a dominant type of offense but word to the wise, defense wins championships. The offense needs to stay on the field, score a bit, extend drives and if no points are scored, play field position.

All of which the Ravens offense can do.

about what....the fact that almost all their yards came at the end of the game...when we had already won.....thats a fact

or the fact that we werent playing smash you in the face football at the end....thats a fact

did you see the pass to sproles at the end....only one guy really went after him....and he was jogging

we were up by almost 20 points with 5 minutes to go.....our brand of football is real rough.....and theres no need to do that if we had already won

The Colts played terrible. You are not even close to Indy when it comes to throwing the ball, you know that.

I think the true winner of this game will take the most risks. It is totally unexpected for both teams. The ravens need to take shots and call some well designed plays. If we do what we did in Ten. then we will not get the job done. If we are too conservative then we will not get the job done. It is the AFC Championship game between two hard nose teams. People will need to step up and we will need to take our shots. We know what Flacco is capable of. If we win this game then I do not think we have a problem in the Superbowl. This is our Superbowl and we need to leave nothing behind.

I agree. Even if our defense wasn't bo banged up I would still say this game will come down to our offense. It looks like Pittsburg finally has their offense in a nice rythm and we're gonna have a hard time stopping them. Especially that darn trips bunch formation. I hate that thing! Its sooo effective. Maybe we should try it.

Why is it big deal that the Steelers had a good offensive game against the Chargers D?

Chargers Defense - 26th in yards per game, 15th in scoring, 31st in passing yards, 11th in rushing
Ravens Defense - 2nd in yards per game, 3rd in scoring, 2nd in passing yards, 3rd in rushing

Come on now. We all know what kind of game this is going to be.

It actually is a big deal. It's a big deal because whether they played the Chargers D or any other D, they were still moving the ball well, had a good offensive strategy, and made very little mistakes. They played really good offensive football yesterday. The Steelers O has been pretty shaky all year, until yesterday. It's never a good thing to see Big Ben making the little throws that count, and then airing it out and hitting a blanketed Santonio Holmes for a big gain, and we just haven't seen that much this year, in either our games with them or other games I've watched. But yesterday, they looked well rested, anxious but in a good way, and played a great game. If you honestly think they're not going to attempt to exploit the holes in our defense with Ben's arm, then I'm not sure what else I can say. Yes, the Chargers D is pretty awful, but they're still NFL players and quite honestly weren't given that many chances to take control. Whether you want to blame that on their D's ineptness or the fact that the Steelers are played well is up to you, but either way it doesn't bode well for the Ravens next weekend.

I think the confusion is that your reply was just addressing a single line in the much longer post that you quoted. I believe you were responding to just the line "...Their defense can be scored upon, P. Rivers had a good day passing...", however, quoting the entire post and not identifying the single line that you were referring to, was confusing. At least, that's how I read the situation.

As to the Ravens needing more of an offense...? I think that is a fair statement. I think Joe has a great future and maybe he can even pull a spectular offense out of the hat now, but I don't think Cam is going to even try for that if the defense can hold the Steelers to a close game. It seems like Cam does "just enough" to be in the game and the results have been mixed. I'm not saying that is a bad thing - look how far he has taken us with a rookie quarterback. Maybe for the long run, it's better to let Flacco build up his confidence. I don't know. But I do think that ultimately, this year or next, we do need to build a more dynamic offense.
