FS: Webb/Brooks

SS: Weddle/Elam

... Could be worse. Weddle can give you the same product Hill did, if not better. The question becomes is if Webb can be an upgrade over Lewis? Or does Brooks and Webb split time and allow Brooks to eventually take over that spot? Time will tell.

I think its more like this.

Safety 1 - Webb/Lewis/Elam/Brooks/Levine

Safety 2 - Weddle/Lewis/Elam/Brooks/Levine

So I was right about Hill. Facing possible suspension and a reason as to why he had no trade value. Ill accept apologies in my inbox. :P jk

I'd shoot myself if that happens.

You didn't know until I posted it. Obviously he has no trade value if he's about to get suspended, but aside from that he most definitely has trade value.

We wouldve had to hold onto him until after the draft, maybe into preseason. That's $3m in cap space just being sat on in hopes of getting maybe a 6th rounder for 2017.

I'm sure eventually we couldve found someone to give up something for Hill... but who knows how long it wouldve taken. That $3m in cap space allows them to be active in FA.

Hill may have future trade value, but right now his trade value was zero. And his $3m in cap savings was obviously worth more to the team than the hope of recouping a late round 2017 pick.

I don't think we would have had to wait THAT long, just until the other safeties on the market completely dried out because there are still some solid guys out there. Of course if not he would have been gone before the draft but I seriously doubt it would have taken that long.

Yes - but to his credit his point was with his track record, any minor disciplinary measure means hes out for a year and that his lack of trade value likely had to do with discipline.

The important question is what do we do with the additional 3 million of cap space.

We'll probably hold onto it until cuts later in the offseason if we don't use it to extend someone in house

If the suspension rumors are true then I don't really see the problem with this.

Obviously. We're just finding this news out.

But Smith never got past his issues, they were trying to trade him because of his issues. Unlike Hill who's stayed out of trouble for well over a year now,

Didn't he have a bigger contract as well?

I think he was still on his rookie deal but I honestly can't remember

Suspended 10 games for violating substance abuse policy per Schefter.

Now we can all understand this move. Not mad anymore at the front office. Disappointed in Will Hill though...

Clearly, Hill wasnt past his issues as we're finding out now. Smith remained out of trouble for a year too.

It's Hill's 3rd offense and he's been in the league, what? 4-5 years? Hard to say he's "past his issues"

Why only 10 games?  I thought he was due for a full year on a 4th strike?

I don't know but Martavis Bryant better be beating down their door if its true even if he did drop his appeal

Damn 10 games. This team has to be so fed up with these situations. So many bad contracts because players are screwing up or getting injured.
