Yep, Brooks should. Let's hope he stays healthy though.

Yeah first and foremost that is what I want for him. To stay healthy.

I want the whole team to stay healthy. I mean we have some okay depth players but man 2 years in a row we had such bad luck with injuries.

Call it the injury era.

One of them still has to cover the TE. It doesn't matter if they have a SS, FS, or whatever designation you want them to have.

Yes, every team has a SS that has to cover TE's that are bigger than them. But most SS are much bigger than Weddle and Webb because they are both in the FS mild and not SS. It's like you are telling me that smaller FS's would cover Gronk as well as Chancellor would be able to because he's an all pro.

I mean I'm not sure how much easier I can say what I'm saying so that you'd comprehend it. May be just leave it go and stop responding.

Eric Weddle is one of the few players who can shut down Gronk, Webb has man coverage experience. Like I said before we're going to be fine, or at least better than last season.

If Will Hill hadn't been suspended multiple times before for this same thing he would have never been on the team to begin with. So I don't think this is unexpected.  It is like signing Johnny Manziel now and getting upset that he is going to nightclubs before games.  We knew what we were getting we were willing to take the risk.

I'm not saying we didn't know he was like this, but at the same time the guy has been suspended all these times, you think he would learn and try to make the most of his most recent opportunity so it doesn't happen again. Not only is he hurting the team now, but he also just screwed himself for the 3rd time. Plus didn't he say something about turning a new leaf and changing when we signed him or something?

This is on Will, yeah I think the FO could have waited until his suspension was announced but you can't blame Ozzie and the FO for something out of their control. Hill has been in the league long enough to know he will be tested randomly. Shame, was looking forward to our new look secondary with the addition of Weddle.

The only thing that I don't get is that Nick Boyle got suspended 10 games and he wasn't cut. Hill suspended 10 games and he's cut?

Nick Boyle's salary cap hit is 566k.  And he has two more years of cheap contracts after this year.  That is why he is still on the team.

I think having Weddle is really going to help the development/play of the other safeties. Having someone who can legitimately provide cover and communicate assignments on the back end should allow the other guys to play free and focus on their assignments.

Elam was asked to do alot, rightfully so as a 1st round pick, but more than i think he was capable of being.

I wonder about the system we have in place for developing our DB's, particularly our safeties.

Elam was asked to ply free safety.....Brooks can't get on the field..Kendrick Lewis played better everywhere than he managed here.

Will Hill appeared lost fir the second half of last year.

I can only assume we are going to hear he did something dumb off-field very soon. His contract was very tradable.

Nailed it... :(

Not blaming Ozzie anymore. Hill has blown it. All his fault. No doubt in my mind we keep him if this doesnt come up. Not mad.

We only had him for one more year anyway.

You are talking to yourself, Harbaugh said there is no FS or SS position anymore and that they're interchangeable. Every safety in the league is smaller than the tight ends they cover.

If Harbaugh really said that, it's no wonder we can't get our Safety house in order.

Maybe Harbaugh thought Elam was an interchangeable safety too.

Cripes Almighty......are we in for a long one.

The loss of Hill hurts. There is no question about that.

Ozzie did the right thing in my opinion.

As good as Will Hill is, it's of no benefit with a ten game suspension.

You save the salary when they are suspended so that shouldn't be a factor.

They done this last year as well with cutting babin after an offsides but then didn't cut doom after a similar error against Jax or Lewis for dropping the interception.

They simply don't hold everyone to the same standards, which some people will find understandable because every player is in a different scenario.

Babin was just signed, doom is a top player. Hill has made the same mistake 4 times, boyle twice.

Personally if its me, if I cut one of failing tests or giving away dumb penalties I'd cut them all because it's hypocritical, but the FO don't see it like that.

I would have cut both boyle and hill, and I wouldn't have cut babin or doom

When I read it, I automatically thought Will made another mistake.....it leads me to think the reason they went after Weddle was because they knew he failed a drug test. this is his 4th time with this, so much talent at a young age. what a shame, I hope he gets an opportunity next year when he serves his time and gets everything figured out.

Weddle/Webb. Let's see how it goes

I think Wedd and Webb will be just fine together, im actually pretty excited for our secondary.  I like the potential with Wright.

sidenote- what part of FL?

Actually TEs are covered by a combination of both safeties and linebackers. I believe we had Orr covering them at times and he did a decent job. I believe it's rare for a team to only put a SS on the TE all game.

Safeties typically have mixed roles and disguised intentions. They are a quite complex position these days and unfortunately there isn't much talent or brainpower in the league for it right now.

With losing a SS and having 2 undersized guys I think Myles Jack now becomes our top guy after Ramsey and tunsil. I doubt he makes it to us though

Guaranteed money hits the cap, so the situations are a little different but the base salaries are saved in both situations.

4th offense vs 2nd offense. Save $3m vs relatively nothing against the cap. 6 games of control after the return vs 6 games and 2 more seasons.

i hear you with sending a message when it comes to discipline, but Boyle's situation while stupid doesn't effect the team negatively at all outside of not being available for the 10 games.

Hill cost the team $3m against the cap which we could really use to shore up another position.

They warned Hill when he signed that he was getting 1 chance. It's on him and since the situations are different the team has the right to handle them differently. If the team benefit in any way by cutting Boyle Im sure they would have.

Unfortunately its in the teams best interest to keep him. There's literally no downside to keeping him, and plenty of upside to. There's 3 million reasons to cut Hill and very limited upside to keep him.

His play declined the last half last year probably cuz of drug problems. That is the difference between a winning and losing team. Winning is motivation for a player to walk a straight line. Harbs I think is the best but when the team loses it creates a situation for the player to mess up. Everybody needs motivation for success whether it be college, work promotion, working towards the draft, dieting to look good on the beach or the NFL. Everything worth doing that is tough revolves around motivation. I always believed Harbs is the best at motivation only Bruce arians rivals him on that stage. I know I threw it out there to give players like will Hill a chance cuz it nets a huge rewards d to either party involved. However one of the key ingredients I said to keeping a dramatic player straight is winning/reward.a winning rewarding prideful atmosphere was missing. I know this cuz do you think me or anybody that keeps a lean body would give up all the comforting delicious food like pizza, pasta, chocolate, cookies, burgers, juices if there was no big rewards involved?? Has me hungry again just typing it lol. I would like to give Aldon a chance but ravens need to get back to winning before bringing in a player with drama.

My question is how on earth did he get off with only a ten game suspension?  That doesn't line up with how the policy normally goes. Anyone know ?

I think I saw that it's because his first couple of suspensions came before the new rule, he wasn't technically in the new "program" yet.

When I think of the one I want to use I will change it. You see the ravens should of franchised KO over a freaking kicker!! And his avatar would be there. Or if there were any alpha males on the ravens. If ravens signed Okung I would use him.oh well let's see who else the ravens get. Hopefully Tunsil Bosa Jack Corey Coleman or Deion Jones gets drafted by ravens. Some of  favorites coming out of college

You really should stick to one story.  In one of your comments before KO left, you said the FO should offer KO $8.5M p/ year and that would be enough to keep him. Now you're saying they should have put the Franchise Tag on him which would have been around $12M a year.  Pick a side and stick to it.
