So now where do Webb, Elam, and Brooks fit in? I don't get it

Easy.......they dont, cut webby maybe keep elam and brooks if they can fill in at corner depth

Don't be ridiculous. Webb isn't going anywhere, we don't save anywhere near enough to make cutting him worth while. Not to mention he still is one of, if not the, best slot CB we have. We'll run 3 safety sets with him, Weddle, and Hill. Those three rangy safeties on the field at once is a nightmare for a division that has AJ Green, Brown, and Gordon. Brooks is a developmental piece so he's not going anywhere. Elam will battle it out in training camp for the final 5th safety spot and he needs to prove his worth on ST to make it.

Webb is slow and washed up if we miss out on ramsey in the first round (Which we most likely will because of the steelers game we just had to win) I see us drafting a corner in the 2nd round of the draft

By cutting Webb we have $6M in dead cap and only save $3.5M. There is no point in cutting him with that. Slow and washed up? now you're just talking nonsense, he's not as good as he used to be but in the slot he's head and shoulders above everyone else on the roster there. Webb is fine and isn't going anywhere.

I' would say their horrid run defense has a lot to do with so many tackles from the backend....Ed made a ton of INT's, which we have lacked, and that what has been missing.....His leadership sure hasn't produced a ton of wins in SD, we have losing season and all of a sudden our secondary has stunk for years??? granted the secondary was weak, but so was our pass rush, which go hand in hand....

Dude our secondary has been AWFUL since 2013. We all know that.

call me crazy, and as bad as our secondary looked last year, our pass defense was ranked 10th last year, which is something i would take every year.....If we had any kind of pass rush we would have had a pretty good defense....

With Suggs back + a draft pick or two (one OLB and one DE) I'm sure our lack of pass rush can be at least somewhat remedied. Losing Suggs was a huge hit for our pass rush, without Suggs Doom couldn't do it all himself out there.

As far as wallace goes if he wants to be in this league Flacco is the best QB for his skill set. If hes smart hell sign, if hes not hell go and sign to another team with a QB that cant throw deep and keep bouncing around from team to team.

I agree....But...Pee's play calling wasn't stellar.....but that's for another discussion....:)

A well proven, great character veteran with an enormous chip on his shoulder...

A.k.a. the Steve Smith treat.

Steve Smith does have a TKO on his resume though....:)

So no comp picks, next year. Sign Wallace now. I dont understand Weddle hes good and all but we have like 10 safeties. Now where does this put us on Ramsey? I thought he was important. I guess Ozzie fears he aint sliding to 6

Ramsey may be the #1 pick of the draft. No way he makes it to #6. Good move by the FO.
If this guy has half the character and passion that SSS has shown he will be a huge addition to our team

You can thank that Pitts win for losing Bosa or Ramsey.

I don't think any move makes you happy lol. There are plenty of good players to be had in the draft. I am quite sure we will get some.

More than 100 comments for a brief time. I guess we waited for such signing for a long time. Respect for Watson but this was so needed.

Since 2012 his int's have gone from 3-2-1-0.....

Why does that matter? We don't judge secondary players by a statistic that they largely can't even control.

Think this is a step in the right direction, of course the Oz haters are gonna really hate this signing.

When they make a big deal about getting more turn-overs you sure do, and with the contract he was given, he better get some....

This was definitely a good pickup. The people questioning it need to remember how bad our secondary was last year. All the depth in the world means nothing if they aren't producing. Weddle is without a doubt a big upgrade. He and Hill will be a stout backend. Now, Oz needs to get Wallace to throw on the other side of SSS and we can keep our fingers crossed that Perriman ends up being the burner we need that can stretch the field. Wallace would be a good catalyst. Then in the draft hope for Buckner and if he is off the board I'd trade back for Hargreaves. I personally like Buckner over Bosa. Bosa is a 4-3 guy imo and Buckner is a 3-4 5 tech all day. I personally know Deforest and he definitely fits the mold of a Raven. The things I've heard about Bosa off the field do not reflect a kind of guy we want on our team. I've heard that weed is the last thing to worry about with him.

This is not a log jam at S.... Weddle and Will Hill will be the starters. Webb can provide depth at S or CB especially in the slot... or in nickel and dime defenses. Elam and Brooks are still projects who are developing... and who better to develop under but Hill and Weddle with Leslie Frazier coaching you? The only odd man out is KLewis... and he may clear some more cap space for us??? Pees has no excuses now!

This is encouraging, pairing eric weddle with will hill makes for a dangerous safty tandom. Webby would never had made it at safety hes to small and not that good of a tackler. We should cut kendrick lewis, webby and elem. We still need corners and a WR to

Webb isn't going anywhere as he can play the slot and we can disguise a lot of coverage's because of his versatility. Also, Webb may be our best tackler in the secondary. Webb has struggled in coverage the past 2 years, but he is constantly credited for being a good tackler, which he is. I think Kendrick Lewis is out of here. I don't think we will give up on Elam yet, nor Brooks. Weddle, Hill, Webb, Brooks, and Elam will make our roster next year.

I'm guessing Webb plays a lot of slot corner and a little safety. He isn't going anywhere and will probably be a big part of our defense. Elam and Brooks will be back ups.

They also made a big deal about not getting beat deep and giving up long completions and TDs. If he cuts those down significantly nobody will care if he picks off a pass...
