[News] Pro Bowl Safety Eric Weddle To Join Ravens

135 posts in this topic

Maybe Webby can now move back to playing CB. That means our nickel package will be Weddle, Hill, Jimmy, Webby and Arrington. That looks very, very nice indeed.

I question the San Diego Tribune's accuracy. The article was littered with inaccurate information and bias about Weddle. Saying he will raise his family in SD when it has been reported that he was factoring in the school systems when making his decision. It calls him the second highest paid safety to Eric Berry (Rival) but in reality Weddle will be the 14th highest paid safety and, is making less money on this contract than his previous one.

NFL.com says 4YR 26Mil.

Not sure Arrington is going to make it out of camp....

Webb no longer has the athleticism to cover on the outside. If he did move back to CB, he'd have to stay in the slot.

i have to say i think we over-paid, not a big fan of this, i really hope he proves me wrong......

Weddle was a top 5 free agent for a reason. He's a baller.

Weddle is a bridge-player while we develop a long-term guy.

So no comp picks, next year. Sign Wallace now. I dont understand Weddle hes good and all but we have like 10 safeties. Now where does this put us on Ramsey? I thought he was important. I guess Ozzie fears he aint sliding to 6

Ramsey may be the #1 pick of the draft. No way he makes it to #6. Good move by the FO.
If this guy has half the character and passion that SSS has shown he will be a huge addition to our team

At least webb can play cb too, Lewis on the other hand cant even play his natural position. Waste of money if he rides the bench while weddle and hill lock down the saftey positions. With the 6th pick we need an edge rusher like Shaq Lawson or a cb. Him and Hargraves will be available, please don't settle for a Tackle Urchel will hold down Kelechi old spot and Monroe will be better. Jason Spriggs Im telling you is the 2nd best Lt in the draft and can contribute day one.

Likely not yet on the roster...

i think now we have to go Pass rusher or O-Line we have a lot of CB's with S.Smith, and Wright going in as the starting, Davis coming back from injury, Wilson coming off IR, Arrington, Walker....And i am sure we will bring in some UDFA for a look....Nick Perry i hope gets a look see at Safety.....We will need a ILBer in rounds 3 or 4 i imagine as we are pretty thin there.....

Chargers weren't a good pass rushing team like us last year so maybe if we can upgrade our pass rush Weddle may end getting some picks, he has the coverage skills so we can hope, but you're right he need picks no matter what.

Also why cut Hill??? If anything, why not try to trade him?? Raiders or Cowboys might bite....I would say the same about Webb, but no one will pick up his contract, but Hill at a little over 2 mil is pretty cheap considering what we are paying Weddle.....

@YankeeRaven then Ramsey will play corner then. But if Joey Bosa is there then it's a tough choice. Bosa would be a good pick as well.

I remember reading that Weddle was unhappy with the Chargers last year. Something about being fined by the team for staying on the field to watch his daughter during a half time show. I think that progressed into the team putting him on IR for the end of the season to punish him and make him look hurt before he became a free agent. Really, really shifty moves from the Chargers organization if true. I think he even ran full speed during a practice to show the press he was not injured. Family first, he is going to light it up this year, just watch. Welcome to BMore Eric. Happy to have you

Huge signing. Field (secondary) and locker room will get energy which disappeared since Ed Reed's departure.

Since 2012 his int's have gone from 3-2-1-0.....

My guess is that Wallace is not going to sign with the Ravens. Based on how the Ravens have operated in the past, they typically don't let someone out of the castle that they want and with no word coming so far chances are he has come and gone. I am sure they made a low ball offer but Wallace is certainly going to test the waters before accepting slightly above a veteran minimum. Maybe he will come back and sign when he sees what the Ravens put together but I don't see him signing with the Ravens in the near future.

nobody cares about compensatory picks.
Selections in the backend of every round havent gotten us very far in recent years.

No log jam at safety either.

Weddle and Hill start.
Lewis (if he stays) is Hill's backup, Elam behind him.
Webb keeps playing the slot and part time safety as Weddle's backup, Brooks rotates in sub packages wherever Weddle/Webb arent.

personally, I'd rather have Mike Wallace.

Please check out Mike's last three years and his fumble record. There a reason Pitts let him go.
