[News] Late For Work 3/10: Ravens Interested In WR Mike Wallace 'If Price Is Right'

73 posts in this topic

Where have you guys been? Here's a quote from Mike himself. if he says it, you KNOW it is much much worse.
"I've got to take some things from Miami that I don't think I did as well and just try to bring it here and be a better person and a better player. Just lead more," Wallace said.

next isn't a quote:
Initial reports said Wallace was benched with an “attitude problem,” but team sources told NFL.com’s Jeff Darlington that Wallace decided himself that he didn’t want to play after tight end Charles Clay scored on a 23-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Tannehill with 43 seconds left in the first half.

and another:
Wallace refused to talk to the media after the game and stormed out of the locker room saying only “I don’t feel like talking”. When pressed for more he told a reporter to “Ask coach”.

This is what you want for a new Raven?

Don't forget that we must reserve some of it for the rookie contracts.

With June 1 only 1 month removed from the draft, I don't think we will normally have our rookies signed until after that date.

I realize that the signing of was to fill in for Boyle, but it would seem that the signing of Watson was confirmation of what we already suspected: Pitta will not be a Raven in the 2016 season. Pitta's savings is substantial post June 1 ($5M). That will go a long way toward signing rookies.

I would like for the Ravens too add a FA Wr, but what is the right price when you have a hole at LT and not a lot of cap space? I would feel better if/when the Ravens pick up a proven vet LT like they did in the past with McKinney for the right price. Solidify the offensive line or all of the fast Wr running down the field won't matter if Joe is running for his life or flat on his back.

I would love to sign Wallace, a perfect wideout with speed and will have a chip on his shoulder. Grimes was cut by Miami he would be great as well!

Yeah, both would be good addiions - sadly, bot the WR- and CB-markets are very slim this year, so both will be very hot commodities - almost surely both out of our price range.

i agree this WR market is thin but the CB market is as deep as it's ever been. bringing back wright was something I really didn't expect but I'm glad we made it happen and for a very team friendly price.

My dream scenario, sign Mike Wallace, Brent Grimes, and Eric Weddle. Cut Webb (unlikely according to Ozzie) that they was going to keep him anyway. Then draft Joey Bosa to give us more youth in the passrushing ability, or Buckner. Ramsey probably gonna be gone. They would give us a great defense for this year.

That would be a dream come true lol

Mike Wallace would be a great insurance policy if someone goes down we still have an elite burner to stretch the field. If he does well he may even be our starter when Sss is gone. Basically we'd be set on offense!

Grimes would be great but let's not rush into it. Let's wait it out a bit for the market to slow down and we may get him for like 2 mil but certainly not if we chase him right now. We're not desperate at all with wright coming back and arrington taking a pay cut.

You may wanna shoot me for this but I believe webb may have a better year than weddle. Weddle will learn the hard way that it's not easy to replicate sucess as a safety at his age with another team.

If bosa falls to us in the draft?!?!?!!! It's a rap!!!

No No No on the old guys , none of those guys ,White Bolden ,J Jones , Lafell, no where near the player S Snith K Aiken .,hopefully a healthy ready Perriman will grow this season. the only one to consider for me would be Wallace if he checks his ego and will play for 3mil a year. He could be a good mentor to Perriman

Agreed, I like the point, no old guys...we need someone who can stay when Steve leaves. Wallace probably wont play for 3-4 mil. But Randle might. Randle is 4 years younger and almost as fast. He has deep receptions and catches touchdowns. I would make a play for either of them and see which one you could get for that money.

I don't think either will fall into the 3-4 million range but I do believe one of the two will find himself in the 5 mil a year prove it type of deal. I'd gladly take either one.

Ahh, KO... Hated to see you go, but understood the move, no hard feelings - but was that - hugely unfair - jab at us at your first presser as a Raider really necessary?

Right? A little low blow if you ask me. We had one of the best OLines in the league in 2014, but injuries hampered everything last year. Sorry we are smart enough not to pay him like a top 5 LT, when he hasn't proved he is worth that. We have the best G in football, and Osemele doesn't deserve more than Yanda.

I don't know why everyone is so down on Monroe. In Jacksonville he was an above average LT. We trade for him, and his first year here he played above average. We signed him to a multi year deal. Was it a little high, yes. But that was he market. Since then he has had some injuries that kept him out, but when he plays, he's solid. People act like he's a bum when he plays and that's not accurate. If we cut him, your looking at like 6 million in dead money, after June 1st you can split it, 2 this year and 4 next year (numbers aren't exact), but that's a lot. Because don't forget, Pitta will be cut after June 1st so that's 4.4 million in dead money next year. If you cut Monroe too, that's over 8 million in dead money next year between those two. That's unacceptable. The best move is to keep Monroe and hope he stays healthy and turns in a solid year like he did in 2013. If he doesn't, then you can cut him next year.

I have to agree. Here's hoping Monroe stays healthy. He's better than Hurst at LT. I do see the Ravens drafting a Tackle or two in this draft. I just hope they don't take Stanley with their first pick. With KO gone, it's even more possible though. If they do take Stanley, I hope he's a day one starter and a stud for years to come.
