I am of the opinion that the FO is working to shore up the offense in FA so we can take the best defensive players available in the draft. They may keep Monroe, bring in a vet that can play T or G and have Hurst and Urshcel as backup/rotating players.

Agree. It's obvious most of the best players at the top of the draft are defenders. No idea what's going on at LT, but if (a) they have reasonable faith Monroe can stay healthy, and get a LG/LT backup other than Hurst, and (b) get one more fast receiver, then I think they can justify going all D in the draft's first few rounds. Especially since rush-by-committee seems to be winning out over feature-back.

I'm more concerned with the Joe Flacco issues that have not been addressed. Joe Flacco needs to be able to get the ball to speedy wide receivers. I would rather have TD's than defensive pass interference calls. Get the ball there Joe. If Laquon Treadwell falls back far enough considering he didn't run at the combine. Get him in the 2nd round.

I agree with this too. I love Joe, and he can definitely get the ball downfield, but he's not terribly accurate. That miracle throw to Jacoby in Denver was a serious underthrow, for example. So was Jacoby's touchdown in the super bowl. I feel like the last time I saw him hit a fast receiver in stride was like the second game of Torrey Smith's rookie year.

He went to the wrong rosters: neither the Phins nor the Vikes have a QB who can utilise his main strength: speed. You can be the fastest WR around if your QB can't throw deep enough.
He was like a prime RB without a good FB and O-line.

Which is basically what Wallace was saying in that interview they quoted. Basically, "yes I get paid a lot, but the idiot offensive coordinator here doesn't know how to use me right, and that noodle-armed QB can't get me the ball on nines anyway."

Would LOVE to get Boldn back but ONLY if the price is right. Quality guy that brings that "Ravens Attitude" out on the field. Over 1,000 yards with 69 receptions with the Niners last season. Between Q and SSS our offense would have lots of nasty edge to it. Again, ONLY for the right price.

Although on this level it's seldom personal, we can all remember how furious Boldin was when he got traded. Wonder if he would be willing to come back to Baltimore at all if that would be his only real option - especially when he hinted towards retirement as early as after the Super Bowl season...

Wallace would be A really good fit for us. I love "Q", and would'nt argue about bringing him back, but we need A speedster like Wallace more than A dump-out receiver. Course, if Perriman can stay healthy he'd be the obvious option, and we could use the cash elsewhere. But I don't think the Ravens can put all their eggs in Perriman's basket, so we need to sign A proven burner.

Which is kind of lame if you come to think of it: he knew damn well who his QB's are gonna be and what they are capable of... So it could hardly come as a surprise that they couldn't throw the ball to him deep enough...
Nope, Wallace got greedy and chose the money over the right place - twice. No biggie, it's their job after all, that's how they fend for their families, so it's obvious that money is a huge part of the decision.
The only problem is that if he choses money over the right place again, he'll probably end up in a similar situation again, not in Baltimore...

Even if Perriman can really come back and not re-injure, I wouldn't trust him over the likes of Wallace - yet. Perriman has not yet showm anything apart from a few practice catches, in the NFL. Wallace has. Let's hope Perriman can really debut and convince us all he was wirth the 1st round pick and all the wait since.

I'm starting to think the NFL is planning to award comp picks to the organization with the most Tight Ends on the roster... We officially have Gillmore, Maxx Williams, Boyle, Reuland, Spears, Pitta and Ben Watson on the roster already, still Ozzie tendered Chase Ford - and now I hear Harbaugh may be planning to convert Darren Waller to TE, too??? The hell is going on TE-wise??? :D

BTW, strange, because after last season I had a gut feeling that Dan Brown could have a chance as a TE... not Waller.

But I"'m quite sure the guys know damn well what they're doing :)

Funny you said something a lot of fans don't seem to understand. There is a difference between having the ability and actually performing. That's why Torrey Smith is no longer on the team. The Ravens FO couldn't determine how good their WR is they let him go instead of taking the risk of resigning Torrey Smith. We need a possession catcher for the future since their is no spectacular catch big body outside of maybe big maybe on Laquon Treadwell. Flacco needs that type of WR to compensate for his lack of accuracy. My fear is that Permian will out run Flacco and appear to be a bust.

Mike Wallace makes sense for the right money, good teammate and brings swag to the field. I wonder why he fell off?

good teammate? What do you read and watch?

This is not true at all. Flacco is very accurate downfield. What you and a lot of other fans don't understand is that the league average for comp % on deep throws is very low, and complaining that a ball that traveled 55 yds in the air, especially when he couldn't even fully step into his throw, was a little underthrown is pretty ridiculous. Torrey set career lows across the board in his only year without Flacco, so Joe isn't the reason we let Torrey go, but he is the reason Torrey got such a big contract. EVERY NFL qb is going to miss on most of his deep passes, but for Flacco, getting it downfield with accuracy is a major strength, and defenses show their respect for it when we have someone who can stretch the field, even though Flacco's never had anything close to a speedy #1.

Flacco is actually fairly accurate overall. You need to consider balls that look inaccurate are not always the case. Receiver can be out of position for the route/play, they can be rerouted due to contact, dealing with pressure while delivering the ball. To be honest Torrey Smith was a great WR to have around, his biggest knock was maybe his straight line speed. When Joe threw deep to him, you could see Joe needing to hold the ball just a bit longer. That aside keeping smith would have been a good idea if not for the cap situation at that time. Things have been/were tight enough without another big contract. Ravens generally keep all the good players they can, it just happens there is not always enough pie to go around so they go to eat someone else's pie.

My dream scenario, sign Mike Wallace, Brent Grimes, and Eric Weddle. Cut Webb (unlikely according to Ozzie) that they was going to keep him anyway. Then draft Joey Bosa to give us more youth in the passrushing ability, or Buckner. Ramsey probably gonna be gone. They would give us a great defense for this year.

Please DO NOT sign Mike Wallace. The Steelers let him walk because he had more love for money vs. football, essentially (reading through the lines a bit). Same thing happened with the Vikings. Why would anyone expect that to suddenly change. Habits are habits and until he comes back to reality there is little upside if any to signing him. That cap room can be better spent reaching long term deals with Tucker and/or B.Williams. Or even wait until teams start making cuts. The idea of getting Wallace at the right price certainly implies that they would look at him, if he was still available closer/after camp. Basically let reality sink, performance dictates pay, not self-worth. IMHO I would pass, pass, pass, just not to Wallace as a Raven.

I disagree, Wallace went for the payday in Miami with a weak QB. Then he went to Vikings with another weak armed QB. Bad places for him. Ravens atmosphere, Flacco deep ball and him being able to stick it to the Steelers twice a year would be enough for Wallace to bounce back. I say sign if the money is right.

No No No on the old guys , none of those guys ,White Bolden ,J Jones , Lafell, no where near the player S Snith K Aiken .,hopefully a healthy ready Perriman will grow this season. the only one to consider for me would be Wallace if he checks his ego and will play for 3mil a year. He could be a good mentor to Perriman

Wallace ONLY if on the cheap. He does not have a history of being a jerk but also no history for being a good dude. So he is worth a peek IMO.

OI also think the Ravens take 2 WR's this draft. Deep with talent just not top end . There is only 1 1st rounder that I can see

Agreed, I like the point, no old guys...we need someone who can stay when Steve leaves. Wallace probably wont play for 3-4 mil. But Randle might. Randle is 4 years younger and almost as fast. He has deep receptions and catches touchdowns. I would make a play for either of them and see which one you could get for that money.
