Is Ezekiel Elliott worth the #6 pick?

46 posts in this topic

lets not forget, our line is far from a sure thing at the moment. you can not put the wagon before the horse. lets add up all the factors..

a lisfranc for a man as massive as wagner will basically be a permanent worry

yanda is still a stud but hes no spring chicken

zuttah can hold his ground but gets little push, and he is returning from an injury, is urschel a starting center?

KO is gone, is jensen a quality 16 game starter?

who the heck is our left tackle?

you cant invest this heavily in a RB without having an OL that is safely projected to be very good. his confidence will take a hit if he isnt able to produce through no fault of his own, and young RBs losing confidence in themselves is a very slippery slope

At this stage we need to assume that Monroe is LT for at least next season, for better or worse. Maybe we are all unfair to him, surgery might have fixed whatever messed him up. I think we'll get some sort of insurance for the left side and draft a guy anyway but there isn't much quality available in FA. It is what it is.

On a Zeke front, I don't think there's a RB worth the 6th pick if you already have a decent backfield and few other more pressing holes to fill.

The Browns I hear are trying hard to trade for Kaepernik along with completion from Denver. I am rooting for Denver to win this battle frankly for obvious reasons. If the Browns do end up getting Kaepernik, we may end up with 4 top defensive playmakers all gone by the time we pick. Ramsey, Bosa, Buckner and Jack will be taken just before we pick and that is a bummer. I can’t imagine Cleveland taking a QB at #2 if they trade for Kaepernik. What do you guys think if they land Kaepernik?

The best possible scenario is the Browns trade for Kaepernick, swap 1st round picks with the Niners as part of the trade, and the Niners take a QB with their pick while the Browns go behind us and are stuck with Kaepernick and continue to be the Browns.

Can't speak for others, but I never said it's happening--I only said it was the best possible move for the Ravens and the rest of the AFC North. I don't think they get Kaepernick and I think they take Wentz, personally.

I agree. I thought about what possible scenarios there could be and the one you proposed came to mind. But, I don't think the Browns would go for that simply because it's been reported (can't recollect where I read it), that the Niners are seeking a second round pick for Kap from the Broncos while the Broncos want to give up their 3rd. If that is the case, the Browns have a lot more ammunition to play with than Denver does. The Browns 3rd is essentially 2 spots away from the Broncos 2nd round pick. So I think the Browns win that battle with Denver imo. The only thing that may work in Denver's favor is that Baalke and Elway have a relationship.

I just found the link where I may have read the Niners looking for a second round pick.

As you know I have been driving the Zeke bandwagon as far as arguing he is as good or better than Gurley but we have bigger needs and shouldn't go after him. As far as the O-line goes just a thought if Monroe goes out I did like how we have moved Yanda to LT and go with Urschel and Jensen at the G with Zuttah and Wagner filling out the line. Yanda is a stud and I have total faith in him.

I would be fine with us drafting zeke with the 6 if the top 5 (tunsil, bosa, Ramsey, Buckner, jack) are taken. BPA, and zeke is a game changer. You don't pass on a prospect like that just because you have a "loaded" group already. Forsett is 30-31 years old and although buck showed flashes, zeke is levels above him. West, LT.. Forget about it. I wouldn't be mad at all.

Absolutely not and I love Zeke Elliot, RB is a devalued position in today's NFL, I know it's a cliche but it's true. I think he's good enough to be a solid pick in the 10-15 range but not while guys like Ramsey/Bosa/Buckner/Jack/VH3/Stanley are still on the board. It really boils down to your OL at the end of the day, if they can create running lanes guys like Forsett can rush for 1000+ yds and you can win football games with your running game like we did in 2014. Having an elite RB is a luxury, not a necessity. We're in no position to be taking luxuries at #6 overall when we still have a few big holes to fill.

In terms of value I would put him above VH3. I just think Elliot is more likely to become top 5 in his position.

Anyone else like DeAndre Washington or Kenyan Drake? if not Elliot we could use an explosive change of pace back.

I like Drake but man does he fumble a lot.

Absolutely not. I'd be okay with trading up to the end of the 1st if he fell that far, which is certainly possible. No way I take a RB at #6 unless it's the second coming of Jamal, which he is not.

I think Elliot is a top prospect in this draft,no question but he is not CLOSE to Todd Gurley.

i dont think so. Really good RB class next year
