[News] Late For Work 3/7: Ravens Nearing Deal With Shareece Wright, Another CB Still Expected

20 posts in this topic

I am a huge Shareece Wright believer I think he fits with us perfectly. I also think the friendship between him and Jimmy Smith is great. I can see them enjoying "work" even more now when you are working out and performing with your friend. Mario Williams would be great here in my opinion we need another pass rusher, but he will demand too much money and I'm not sure how he would feel about splitting time with Dumervil and Suggs.

This is already proving to be an interesting off season. I am not sure if we can depend on Suggs coming back as a big impact player. His mind seems to be on a great deal of other things. I see and hear about how everyone else is attacking their rehab and he is still playing childish games. Why was he over another woman's house, didn't he just get engaged last year? The next day he was on IG liking several girls pics. He is a head case. We really need to draft a few pass rushers. Right now on the outside we have a player who is Sizzled out and left us Doomed LOL

No way we sign Mario. He was just spending the entire season complaining about being an OLB in the 3-4

Does Will Davis fit anywhere in the cornerback conversation?

I was thinking this as well. I know people were saying he only gave us one game before injury but if he can project that one great slot game over the course of a season, I think he absolutely is in the conversation (particularly superseding Arrington in the slot even though that was supposed to be Arrington's specialty).

He's definitely going to see significant playing time, assuming he is able to come back healthy from his injury.

I'm probably in the minority, but I think the coaching staff/FO sort of likes our secondary right now as presently assembled. I think they'll definitely add a corner somewhere, but I don't think it will be with a 1st round pick or a high priced guy in FA. I think with Jimmy, Shareece and Davis, coupled with possibly Arrington in the slot and another addition, I think they are content there. I think they also know that a guy like Webb can come down and cover.

I think our first round pick is shaping up to be either Stanley (depending on how LT shapes up) or the best available pass rusher (Buckner or Bosa basically).

I think KO's new team will be announced the first day of free agency - and it won't be the Ravens.

Agree. He is gone and gone quick.

Hard to image Arrington staying since going separate ways with D.Smith and Canty. I do like the youth movement though and it was badly needed after carrying a team with HoF'ers for many years. Everyone keeps talking about K.O. is for sure gone but I don't agree. Yes there are teams that need a G or LT but those teams are going to make sure they are not overpaying either. Just cause you can overpay doesn't mean you should, it will bite you at one point or another. Also there are some good draft prospects available this year as well that are substantially cheaper and can be groomed for your system from day one. More like a 50/50 chance whether he stays or goes. He ws offered an aggresive LT money contract offer, which means more than he would command playing for a team at G. This means only a team looking for LT would really qualify. Just so happens two of the potential teams interested are also ahead of Ravens in draft (Titans and Chargers). So do you draft and save on a quality LT who can start from day 1 or go pay top dollar for one who is NFL proven, not necessarily LT proven (yet).

I believe Suggs wife filed for divorce last year over allegations of infidelity. I am less concerned about his personal life and more concerned about if he will come into camp in shape to play. Suggs has a history of playing his way into football shape during camp. With his injury and age I worry those days are behind him and he needs to be working out now or we will be spending the season talking about if this is his last year.

Suggs is in his 14th Season. He knows exactly what he needs to do to get ready for the season. He has been arguably our best player for the last 10 years and I still don't see anyone on this roster that makes more of an impact than Suggs on Sundays.

I guess I'm in the minority as well. With teams like the 49ers and Raiders going after CBs like Sean Smith and Janoris Jenkins, I gotta wonder who'll be available to go after once a lot of these teams go spending. This offseason should be interesting for sure.

this could just be speculation but it doesn't look like we will be able to keep him.

As much as I agree with your point, it would not surprise me if, just like the draft, some team over reaches, and over pays KO assuming he could be their future plug and play guy at T/G for the foreseeable future.....

Like with Pitta's 2 hip injuries; I believe that 2 torn achilles will be very difficult for Suggs to recover from.  I highly doubt that he'll be a solid pass rushing option for us going forward given the position, requirements of it and his age.

Right, and ideally, he will be a run stopper and a 3rd or 4th edge rusher on this team going forward.

I agree, Look no further than how quickly our season went downhill last year after suggs was injured. It affected the entire defense. My concern is that when you are as good as Suggs is and have never had an issue playing your way into shape you sometimes only realize things have changed after it has happened. It was reported last season that Suggs once again came into camp out of football shape. I'm not a physician but I do know that one cause of an torn Achilles is from stepping up your level of physical activity too quickly. Usually 1+1=2. I value all that Suggs has done for our team. Well his team really and am not trying to put him down. I only hope he trains this offseason more seriously because we are counting on him to be a solid contributor. BTW Terrell Suggs is one of the greatest Ravens of all time.
