Post Combine Mock Draft

12 posts in this topic

I'll just stick to the first four rounds.

Pick 1, Titans: Tunsil

Pick 2, Browns: Wentz

Pick 3, Chargers: Bosa

Pick 4, Cowboys: Ramsey

Pick 5, Jaguars: Jack

Pick 6, Baltimore Ravens: Deforest Buckner, DE, Oregon

There isn't much to say about Buckner that hasn't been said already. He's a potentially dominant force that has the ability to get through or around guards, and alongside Williams he'll help to completely shut down the running game of others teams.

Round 2: Vonn Bell, S, Ohio State

To put it simply, if you consider Ramsey to be a CB, then Vonn Bell is the best safety in this draft. Good discipline, great timing, and doesn't leave plays on the field. He'll give the Ravens what they've been missing since Reed, a rangy centerfielder that makes momentum changing plays. Coach Meyer even said he's possibly the best safety he's ever coached: "I've been lucky to have been around a lot of good safeties and he's as good as I've ever had."

As a special note: I do rank Spriggs, and WJ3 a bit higher, but I think both of them will be gone. Though getting the best safety of the class is certainly a great consolation prize.

Round 3: Sterling Shepard, WR, Oklahoma State

Yeah, he's the one most of us want in the third round. Personally, I'd even consider trading way some 4th round picks to go up and get him. If he's still on the board, then he has to be the pick here. If Perriman lives up to his draft position, the two could give the Ravens the best WR combo they've had since 96.

Round 4: Jordan Jenkins, Edge, Georgia

Won't do much good in coverage, but he's solid at both rushing the QB, and stopping the run. He's stronger than he looks, holds up well at the point of attack, can seal off the edge, and will do well as Upshaw's replacement.

Round 4 (comp): Evan Boehm, C, Missouri

The name of the game is brute power and the ability to drive D-lineman away from the RB. The Ravens have had their issues in short yardage situations, and Boehm can help fix that. Given some experience, he can challenge for the starting center job, and help the Ravens grind out those tough yards.

Round 4 (comp): Harlan Miller, CB, Southeastern Louisiana

Tall, light on his feet CB that plays at his best in off-man, which suits our defense. And he plays with a real chip on his shoulders.

Round 4: Fahn Cooper, OT, Ole Miss

The other tackle from Ole Miss, Cooper filled in at LT for Tunsil during his suspension, and played well. The finished the season at RT, showing the versatility to play on both sides of the line. He has a few issues, but looked good during the one on one drills before the East West Shrine game. He'll definitely be an improvement over Hurst as the backup tackle, and could potentially become a starter after being coached up.

I like this mock a lot. I honestly think out of my board that Buckner has the highest chance of falling to us. I also think outside of Jack he may be the most physically gifted player in this draft. Can't complain with a 6'7 lineman... Him and Urban would bat several balls down a game.

I like it alot. My only thing would be do we really need another safety? We have a logjam as it is.. but it's possible we move on from Lewis and hill could be gone after this season too. Cb should be a little higher on the priority list but a playmaker like bell is hard to pass up.

Personally I would rather have VH3 in this scenario, bigger need imo and I am not a big Buckner fan. I think he is a bit overrated, yes he is big, but I think he is going to have trouble with guards getting into his body because he is so tall and in football in most cases low man wins and I don't see him winning in those situations. People like to go to the Michigan game to discredit VH3, but no one seems to go to the Michigan State game to discredit Buckner, which was arguably his toughest competition and got manhandled in it I believe he had 2 assisted tackles and did not affect the passing game or running game. Some was double teams, but most was one on one.

Dominant***

Sorry, that misuse happens so often On This site and it really irks me lol.

I think vonn bell at our current 2nd rounder is a reach and Shepard won't be there in the 3rd. Now if we trade back in the 2nd, nab bell and then use that ammo to trade back up from the 3rd to grab shepard, that's a different story and I would be pretty excited, although I just kinda feel like we can get a first rounder with our 2nd EVEN IF we trade back.

I will be jumping for joy if it played out this way.

Agreed. I think DB is a priority in the second round. Especially considering out draft position.

While we do have a number of safeties, none of them really stand out aside from Will Hill. Elam will likely never play like a first rounder, Brooks has shown some flashes but hasn't impressed the coaches enough to get play time, Kendrick tends to always be a step behind WRs, and the other guys are mainly special teamers. Bell would likely become the biggest play maker we have at S if we drafted him. Also if WJ3 and Apple are gone, Bell will simply be the best DB left.

Where Bell goes will likely depend on his proday since he didn't appear at the combine. If he impresses coaches he could definitely move himself up to the early 2nd round. Though a trade back for Bell, and then trade up for Shepard would be amazing.

And if Shepard is gone, then I'd go with Higgins or Pharaoh Cooper. Both would be a good compliment to Perriman.

I LOVE Higgins. To me he's the best route runner in the class. He reminds me of Nelson agholor who I still think is gonna be a beast

I think Higgins may end up being one of the best receivers in this draft. Teams talk about size and speed... But in my opinion route running is what gets you open the most. I think Antonio Brown is the best route runner in the league and that is why he is so productive. I would love to draft him in the 3rd. Maybe Crockett can give the front office some insight on this pick. I think we have enough of those big possession receivers and we have Perriman for speed. Higgins isn't slow but his route running may give opposing defenses fits going against the 2nd or 3rd string cornerback.

This is why I don't think the Ravens get a safety unless BPA comes into play. Elam was turning heads and showed confidence he didn't have his first couple years last year before tearing his biceps. They said Terrance Brooks has the talent to play but he just needs to study more. Kendrick Lewis ended pretty strong after a shaky start and I think he improves. Webb is moving to safety which I think is a good move because he is slower now and he has incredible hands so hopefully this helps. This is why I do not think the Ravens draft a safety unless they think there is a game changing safety in the draft. In my opinion it isn't a weakness for us. What a weakness was cornerback before we got Wright and now he is signed and I honestly think him and Jimmy are great together healthy. Will Davis will be a great slot corner. But if any of those guys go down oh no...

The only pick I could complain is Jordan Jenkins, there are options I would prefer in this draft at this point. I think Jenkins' ceiling is low.
