[News] Ravens Feel Like They Have Three First-Round Picks

29 posts in this topic

I really want Breshad to play and show us he was worth a first round pick. For two reasons really - one to help us and two to validate our front office.

He turned out to be a bust last year rather than the immediate impact player that we imagined him to be on draft day.

being injured does not make you a bust. I just hope his knee has healed by the time preseason comes around.

Bleacher Report had him ranked at number 10 last year at this time after he ran a 4.24 in the scouting combine.  They also cautioned that Perriman could be a boom or bust potential player.  On the other hand, Dynasty Blast had him ranked number 2.  Injury aside, I want to see it translate to the field of play before I pass my final decision on whether or not Perriman remains a bust or a disappointment (e.g. Marc Clayton).  As for last year, he has no statistics to prove that he ever played the game in the NFL yet.  I'm a mathematician, not a football coach, statistics don't lie, Sami.

The possibility exists that Perriman can be a bust, but he can also be dominate this year. Granted we were banking on him to do that last year, but injuries happen. If this kid shows up as fresh and hungry to prove himself as we think he will, it should translate into immediate positive impacts.

The articles that are squeezed out of 1 interview amazes me! Kudos Mink. What would happen to your article output if you actually had several interviews to extract words out of?

Breshad Perriman has all the tools to be a dominant NFL WR. The real question is whether or not he wants it. And that is for him to prove to everyone.

Yeah Harbs we know which position they are....which guys are you picking? lol...he skated on us again. Looks like The Ravens are going to try for the OT without locking up KO they cannot risk not signing Stanley or Tunsil (who probably not fall to 6) after that I would say Bosa tops their list, followed by Ramsey, then Jack, then Buckner. so thats how I see it. Here is my pecking order for the Ravens #6 draft pick- Tunsil- Stanley- Bosa- Ramsey-Jack- Buckner-
I think that Stanley will most probably be there at #6 and I think that the Ravens will take him over anyone else on the list that is left except Tunsil. However...I wouldn't be surprised to see anyone of these 6 guys in a Ravens Uniform next season if came down to them being last on the board.

And since he doesn't have a single stat, there's nothing that can quantify him as a bust.

That's a pretty solid list of #36 overall picks, especially Jordy. I am disappointed that we passed on Wolfe for Upshaw, didn't realize that.

I literally have to wipe away the drool just thinking about 6th overall, then the 36th......wow, this draft is going to be special! Look what the Ravens do picking around 23rd and 40 something each year. Man, I'm psyched!!! GO RAVENS!

Upshaw hasn't been a bad player, so it's not that disappointing. Wolfe is a heck of a player, but it's not like Upshaw was a bust.

How is he a bust because of injuries? It baffles me that people can actually say and think that. Give the kid a chance to actually prove himself on the field for crying out loud. If he plays and doesn't live up to what was expected, then yes he could be a bust.

He's 6'2 and runs a 4.24. I want to see what someone like that can do on the field before I say they are a bust.

Stats don't lie, but he didn't have a chance to put any up....so that makes him a bust? Another thing, I'm sure the front office doesn't care about your final decision on Perriman.

Perriman "bust" comments/arguments never fail to pop up when he is mentioned. I think the obvious statement is "it depends." There is no dictionary definition of "NFL bust." It depends on your own definition of bust. Is it the 3 year window? Is it the 1st rounder must contribute now/year 1? Does it exclude those who are injured or never take the field? If he is a bust to someone and not you, no sweat. Me personally, I don't really care much for titles (bust, injury prone). Just the ebb and flow of the NFL/draft. I just really want to see those physical gifts translated on field. It's exciting to see the Ravens with someone who might be the most physically gifted player and quite possibly the highest ceiling of any Ravens player we've seen drafted in a while.

Regardless, there's pretty much no realistic subjective measure of anything that labels somebody a bust after one season of not even being on the field.

Its one thing to agree that a topic discussion is inherently subjective, but that also implies that multiple sides of that subjectivity have valid arguments for their position. In this case, that really doesn't apply.

Just think how much better we'll be with Perriman's speed forcing to teams to play more cautiously. Instead of just loading the box and teeing off they have to respect the long ball. Torrey Smith wasn't a consistent receiver by any means but having the blazing speed changed our offense and opened windows for everyone else and the run game... and Torrey isn't even as fast as Breshad and on tape Breshad seems much more coordinated so his entry to our offense will be enormous

I REALLY hope Perriman actually PLAYS as fast as his 40 time. He looks like a 4.4-4.5 player when I watched his game film, it's probably just me.

Lets stop stretching the truth shall we?
Seriously 3 1st rounders? Laughable.

That's what I thought too; just them trying to keep our morale up after a mess of a season. But I can see why they feel like that; in a sense, what they're saying is true. They're just saying we have lots to be excited about

Ofcourse it's not technically three first round picks, but its still much better than the alternative. Not having Perriman to stretch the feild last year really killed us in more ways than one, so having him back is essentially like having an extra first. Plus 36th is pretty darn high and your still getting first round quality talent. Also remember the patriots forfeited their first. ..so that's just one more guy that could potentially fall to us.
