[News] Late For Work 3/4: Ozzie Newsome Making Moves To Clear Cap Space. What's Up His Sleeve?

I don't know that the release of Smith was directly tied to our level of interest in Jack, but I feel like may have increased the potential for him to be our pick. Still, I think the Ravens are going to be a little concerned about bringing in a rookie coming off a significant injury ... especially a pick this high.

For me, its either Bosa (who is still a longshot), VH3 or Buckner. Jack is an intriguing player, but with significant boom/bust potential. I'm not sure we're going to be willing to roll the dice with this high of a pick

They're not.(or let's hope so)

There are so many bonehead thoughts in this article I hardly know where to begin.Arthur Brown? Seriously? Where has he been? Now the writer thinks he can replace Darryl Smith. In your dreams. He wasn't even good enough to be a back up. Eugene Monroe and Dennis Pitta? Both should be gone. Why hang onto this dead weight? Monroe stinks and Pitta is through. Here we go again with the wide receiver crap. Strike three! And just why on earth would they resign Darryl Smith? He was terrible last year. Did the writer of this article watch any Ravens games? Bridge the gap from Ray Lewis? Yeah that worked out just great. No replacement for Ray yet. Some gap. It seems anyone can write insane thoughts these days and be called a columnist. I am in the wrong line of work.

Well, who pays LT if we cut Monroe now? We certainly can and very well may cut him, but you better be sure you've got somebody to play that position before you do.

I cant see the Ravens cutting Monroe without a replacement especially considering the money they have tied up in him right now. His critique is deserved from the rumors around the water cooler. He has reportedly been a bit sluggish during camp each year, and he really only had 1 decent year since he arrived . The Ravens have overpaid so far they would like to re-coup some of that investment on the field. As far as the LB crew, the Ravens have not been the same since Ray obviously.D. Smith and Canty both aging there just isnt enough room on the roster or money available to allow the D to grow and see the "new" guys mature. Maybe it will bite them, maybe not however expect OZ to pick DEFENSIVE players this year in the draft that "could" push even more players OUT the door if they cannot show improvement! Lastly, Pitta controls his own destiny, the Ravens pay either way. So if the guy can play its worth it to them to let him try at this point. Otherwise He should just take the retirement and get out of the way! My opinions dude...articles are just opinions

I thought that Mosley had a pretty rough year honestly. He played through and there were problems around him but he seemed to be out of position quite often. Anyone see the issues? I don't study tape so i'm not going to go much further than that. I know the kid has a lot of talent, I'm just not sure what was going on. Looks like the Ravens seem to put some of the blame on the veterans, from the outcome of the past few days. Comments?

I remember sitting at M & T believing that our linebackers were incapable of dropping back into pass coverage and waiting for the opponent to throw over the middle repeatedly to exploit this weakness.

I'd love to see the Ravens pick up a few guys in FA to take some of the pressure off of the staff heading into the draft.  A few other guys who may not break the bank, but provide depth might be, Chris Johnson (RB),  James Laurinaitis (MLB), Patrick Robinson (CB), or Ladarius Green (TE).
