Suggs arrested (minor)

I mean... what's the alternative?

Give him a ticket for having a suspended license which was likely caused by not paying the original tickets to begin with? So basically give him another ticket that he won't pay?

They can actually do just that though.  It was in MD and not AZ but I was pulled over once and had a suspended license due to unpaid tickets (I moved around the time of the speeding camera ticket and it was sent to my old place).  The cop gave me a "must appear" citation and told me to call someone to get my car.  Of course I just waited awhile and drove home, but yeah, a citation alone is an option for police

Well considering it looks like he spent all of an hour or less at a police station, that's basically what happened.

My point was that you typically detain them in an effort to not allow them to drive home. Typically they tow your car, take you to the police station, and you call somebody to come pick you up and they send you off with a citation.

You can be arrested or "detained" without every actually sitting in a jail cell or spending a night behind bars.

Yeah, people should pay their speeding tickets but these could be from anything. You may even have unpaid speeding tickets of which you're unaware right now. These speed cameras are a result if this, imo. They catch you speeding and issue the citation that could be sent to the wrong address. It's very possible it's just that simple.

Yes it is.  If they don't arrest you for driving with a suspended license what is the point of suspending your license?

This.  Happened to me actually,  sometimes it's just an honest mistake.

I don't see why driving with a suspended license is a minor deal.   He can face up to six months in jail for this.

Because this is an NFL player and in the grand scheme of things, its minor.  It's relative to what this COULD have been about or for.  Hope that simple explanation explained some of the reasoning for you as to why this is "minor".  He pays the tickets and issue is over.  Pretty much one of the most low level arrest reasons one can have.

Sounds like Sizzle knew he had a suspended license. Kinda strange that he never bothered to get that fixed. I'm not about to blast the guy for it, but that's not particularly smart. Oh well.

Yes it is. He is driving on the road illegally.

From the arrest video, glad to see Suggs looks like he's in pretty good shape for coming of an injury.  Was somewhat worried that he'd show up to training camp overweight.

I do not see why either, I would guess it is what you say, that department in "Arizona doesn't have much going on." If he had proper ID, he probably should have been issued a citation and sent on his merry way. You are not really given much choice when you can not properly identify an individual. Maybe because he lives out of state, they could have a "must arrest" policy in that officer's police department. It would be interesting to know if it was up to the officer's own discretion. If Suggs was polite to the officer and could get someone with a valid license to take possession of his vehicle, my way of thinking is - why would you take yourself out of service?

Truthfully, many people do not know their license is suspended. Some people misplace and forget about citations, some states suspend for back child support and the driver does not get the letter because they are moving around or it goes to a bad address, and some people pay the citation but it is not recorded as paid when the check is cashed. Trust me, most people try to con the officer that they "cleared up the issue," but in a few cases they are actually telling the truth and they really did and the suspension should have been taken out of the system. I have had some drivers pull out court papers with payment receipts attached. If you are working a weekday that stuff can be easily checked, but it gets more difficult on weekends and nights when the courts are closed. If his license was "revoked" and he was issued a "driving on a revoked license" instead of "driving on a suspended license" then the officer should arrest, because if he had a revoked license he would know it because he would have been in front of a judge and been told by that judge that his license was being taken away, so he would be showing a COMPLETE lack of respect for the law at that point. Driving on a suspended license is a lesser traffic charge than driving on a revoked license.

I forgot about those stupid speed cameras and red light cameras. I hate them. If an officer needs backup and you are going code 1, drivers will not run that red light if a camera is at the intersection. I have seen people cause serious accidents because they jam on their brakes at the last second because they realize a camera is there. You made me laugh with the, "I just waited and drove home," but I would not recommend that ;)

What is the difference between suspended and revoked?

What would be the cause of one or the other?

It figures TMZ got their wretched hands on this just like they wasted Ray. Surveillance from the decrepit media

I hear the body camera adds 10 lbs, too, so Suggs will be looking sharp on the field

I think this is pretty much the case. Revocation would be a penalty for a period of time after a conviction with a hearing or review needed for reinstatement.  A suspension an automatic penalty for an offense that could be lifted by something like paying off tickets.

Somebody probably mentioned the Flacco deal to him at the bar...

I would reward him with a renegotiated contract that frees up more cap space.  Besides, if we draft Bosa, then we will still have an awesome pass rush and run stopping ability despite him taking the year off last year to nurse his injury.

Maybe he was the sober driver of the bunch and he was doing everyone a favor.  This is minor.  No punches thrown in any elevators.  Pick up the flag and move on.

Suggs is done as an elite player . I have no doubt he will be even slower this upcoming year .

He will also come into training camp like usual : out of shape .

I do think mananagement will look at a possible release if they don't like what they see during training camp .

His contract basically prohibits him from being released.

I mean seriously, you can tell from the vid he knew his license was suspended...

Is it that big a deal? Uh yeah. Regardless of if people know.. thats kinda excusable if you forgot. But it was clear he knew, then makes jokes on IG.

So basically it's pretty much confirmed he was being irresponsible, in handling something as simple as renewing your liscence.

Suggs isnt just a athlete.. he's a key player on a franchise with reputation. You make the organization, team, and yes, even fans look bad with this kind of simple irresponsible mistake.

The fact it is MINOR makes it MAJOR... take your big butt to the DMV, get it renewed since you knew. Don't let the media, TMZ, and everyone else go wild on something dumb like this, we already don't have the best history with our athletes and legal trouble, you guys know this.
