JJ's Post combine mock

14 posts in this topic

Things are starting to come to light and we now have a clearer picture of who will be best for us. We will have an even better idea in the next few weeks after the first wave or two of FA..but i'l give it a go for now.

1) Tunsil

2) Goff

3)Bosa

4)Buckner/Wentz

5) Ramsey

6) MYLES JACK - has grown on me more than any other player in the draft, high character guy, versatile and a true leader. Fills an indirect/ under the radar need. Classic oz pick; makes too much sense. Him and Mosely would be a thing of BEAUTY.

Round 2

William Jackson lll - again, just makes sense. Had a great combine and cb is one of our most pressing needs.

Round 3

Chris Jones - thought about going sterling Sheppard here..but I think he goes a little higher than expected. This guy is the real deal and imo has a really high ceiling. Also thought about Johnathen Allen, Who I think Ozzie will shoot for but just miss.

Round 4

Rishard Higgins- not to keen on the"hollywood" nickname..but I think he would compliment Perriman very well. A wr corps of 1)SSS 2)Aiken 3) Perriman 4)Higgins 5) Campanaro                 6) Mathews sounds pretty intriguing to me.

Round 4 ( Comp)

Joe Dahl- I fully trust Jenson and urschel to step up big this year,  but KO will find more money on the open market and take it. I don't think we need to take a OL in the first few rounds Givin our coaches ability to develop diamonds from dust. I think dahl is a steal in round 4 and has the potential to do big things right off the bat.

Round 5

Cyrus Jones- I've had him in just about  every single mock I've done so might as well keep the trend going. Will mainly be our special teams ace but doesn't hurt to double up on corner for some much needed depth. Not the best in coverage but better than most give him credit for. He will be a hometown favorite and bring some electricity to the return game.

Round 5 (comp)

Kenyan Drake - wasn't sure about this one..running back isn't really a pressing need at all, but I see good value here. He had a good season considering he was stuck in Derick Henry's shadow. Back to back bamas to scratch Ozzies itch and stay true to his alma mater.

Round 6

Isaac Seumalo- doesnt hurt to add  another center who can plug in during a pinch. He has also played left tackle and guard, so he'd be a nice addition. Needs to bulk up a bit but has decent upside.

Round 6 (comp)

Eddie Yarbrough

Round 6 (comp)

Joe Haeg

not sure if we have another comp here- and it may actually be another in round 4 or 5..but I put it here anyway. Thought about going with a qb like boykin or  DE like Johnathen Woodward..but I think we double up and get some fresh blood in the trenches.

Summary:

MYLES JACK

WILLIAM JACKSON III

CHRIS JONES

RISHARD HIGGINS

JOE DAHL

CYRUS JONES

KENYAN DRAKE

ISAAC SEUMALO

EDDIE YARBROUGH

JOE HAEG

this will be a combination of playmakers along with filling several needs. Several players that can plug right in and contribute immediately. didnt  want to include any trades but I think we will be aggressive in rounds 2-4 to move around and go after some guys we really want. The first 3 rounds are EXTREMELY important this year with this high pick. Thought about going *Buckner- Scooby- Sheppard *Spence- Boyd- Hall, or *VH3-Yannik-Cooper just so many different potential combos. Hopefully oz nails it.

The Jack/Jackson combo is becoming redundant but I won't complain, I've been on this wagon for quite some time now.

Unfortunately Jackson III in the  2nd seems impossible now. Also where are the pass rushers man? Wouldn't have hurt to take a Schobert, Kaufusi or Fackrell in the 4th.

I need to go back and watch more or Jackson. I didn't love what I saw of him, although I wasn't much. But he's getting a lot attention recently, what do people like about him?

He's a freak and plays with swagger and solid skill. A bit on the raw side but he's long and big and by far the toughest cb in The class. Presses very well, big boy but fluid as can be so he can turn those hips and get upfield. He doesn't always locate the ball but he has a great knack for legally face guarding by timing his swat based on the wrs body language.

Think a much more athletic and less thuggy aqib talib

I don't see Cyrus Jones falling to the 5th at all. to me he could go as high as the 2nd. I like most of what you've got going on here though.

With his combine performance I don't think William Jackson III and Eli Apple are going to slide at all. We might see both of them gone in the first round and sooner than we think. In my last mock I have Apple as soone as 14. He's a fast riser.

On the other hand, now that the teams can finally trade compensation pick, I wouldnt move seeing the Ravens try to trade up and get a stud CB late in the 1st after getting the BPA in one of these at 6 (Ramsey/Jack/Tunsil/Bosa/Buckner).

So the Ravens only need 1 QB to be drafted in the top 5 to get a shot at a very unique talented player. After those 5 I think the talent isn't as great. Stanley cone drills aren't good... Hargreaves will be a reach at 6. Shaq Lawson I don't see him having double digits sacks. Spence is a big risk at 6.

Only thing that makes me wonder if the Ravens draft Jackson is them saying they avoid fast risers... In my mind he is one of the fastest risers the last couple weeks. I wonder where they had him 2 or 3 weeks before the combine. I like the way he plays and the confidence he possesses, just afraid of the selective words our front office has used over the last couple weeks.

Jackson was a 2nd rounder way before the combine. He flew under the media's radar because of his university, but trust me he was going to the second anyway.

Keep in mind that fast riser to us might not be the case for teams. A lot of the time it's fans playing catch up since we don't have near the resources that teams do. He could have long been rated as a day 1/early day 2 possibility.

I think Apple is a 1st round prospect on a lot of boards. He just adapted very quickly this season. Started bad, then was great. Thats what you want to see your player do. As far as Jackson III I', not sold yet but I havent watched him a lot only highlights. He might be a riser but I don't think he'll go in the top 20 picks unlike Apple.

TO be honest, I think I'd prefer to see the Ravens sign a free agent CB before they draft one because the board might not fit for them to draft a CB when they pick

I agree and that's why in my post I said I wonder where the Ravens had him 2 or 3 weeks before the combine. If he was already up there then I don't see an issue. I just know in a lot of mock drafts he was a 3rd rounder now some are talking late first.

I like the draft.  I agree with the idea though that it is very unlikely that Jackson would be there anymore.  With him proving he has the speed he becomes almost becomes a late first round lock.  But other than that I love the draft.  The only thing i cant picture is drafting both haeg and dahl.  Just dont se how it fits.
