How come no ones mentioned tradin UP? I read an interesting idea in which the Titans pass on Tunsil and the Ravens trade up to #3 to get him.

Doesn't seem realistic anyway. Why would the Chargers pass on the #1 player in the draft at the position they need most? You'd have to overpay on a level that Oz just wouldn't do.

Myles Jack should be our pick imo. The more and more I watch him, it's just amazing. His speed is like a Ray Lewis coming out of college. He'll add even more speed to the linebacking core along with Mosley.

The real question is "Will he be there at 6?" and to me the answer is no...

It's tough. Pass rush can certainly make a larger impact than a CB, and this pass rusher class is weak and we have a massive need to replace Suggs and Dumervil; although Bosa has questions regarding his fit and ability to play 3-4 OLB and his pass rushing skills due to OSU sliding him inside against the RG and him often going against the RT and not the LT.

This CB class is stacked imo and we could probably find a guy who could be as good or better than Hargreaves with our second or maybe third.

That said, Hargreaves would certainly be a great pick since he could upgrade Arrington and allow us to cover those pesky slot CB. He's also great insurance if Jimmy, Will Davis, or Wright get hurt or struggle so we won't get caught with our pants down anymore. It's also true that sometimes you don't gamble on getting a guy later who may be better than one of the top CB in the draft.

It's certainly a struggle for me.

I say we pull the trigger on Bosa and don't think twice. Pass rushers drop off really fast and we need one early in this draft as Suggs might be in for his last season and Dumervil is right behind him. If we take VH3 then we have almost no chance of landing Lawson, Dodd, Floyd, or even Spence, but most likely Calhoun though. You flip the pick and we take Bosa, then I say there is a much better chance we get one very talented corner, whether it be Alexander, WJIII, Fuller, Apple, etc.

It isn't for me because Hargreaves is clearly a playmaker that offers great turnover abilities and even if primarily used in the slot would be an upgrade. I'd take him at 8 after moving with the Eagles as my trade partner. I'd take a second and a third/ fourth as comp.

Eagles do not have a second round pick...the Rams have it, so the best we would get is a third, which I would love because if Bosa is gone and we covet Hargreaves then we can get an additional pick or bundle the two 3rd rounders and sneak back into the second.

Yeah was corrected awhile back. Increasingly I'm starting to believe the Ravens may move back with the Rams a grab some picks. Ragland projects in that Range and he was brought in to kick the pick. I wouldn't be surprised if they went that route but I'd rather target Mckensie at that spot. Hargreaves won't make to the Rams spot if we moved into that position.

If bosa is there I think we have to take him over vh3. He can be extremely disruptive in multiple spots. I love him as a DE for us, I think lining him up in the T/G gap with one of our OLBs on the tackles outside shoulder would be devastating and would also prevent a triple team against whoever is lined up at nose. If jernigan and bosa are both in that gap then it pretty much leaves single matchups across the board if we rush all 5. Dumersizzle are both singled up with their tackles and those tackles have to play on their heels with bosa and jernigan to their inside shoulder, the guards primary job would be to contain the inside rush from bosa and jernigan but thays a tall task in itself, and this also leaves the guards outside shoulder vulnerable and bosa and jernigan can both exploit that with great effectiveness, having all 3 interior OL committed to containing the inside rush plays to our advantage in this case because Williams can push 2 guys into the pocket with ease and it forces the qb to favor the outside of the pocket which is right where jernigan and bosa would be closing in, dropping deep would allow an easy bend for the edge rushers and stepping up isn't an option because of the push up the middle.

it would give qbs and ocs nightmares.

Amen! Your analysis was great, Pees's strongest schemes come up front and I see him fully utilizing Bosa to his fullest potential

Lawson might still be there though possibly

Ragland wouldn't add anything to our defense. Having two run stuffing monsters at LB is counter productive, we badly need a guy that can cover (and yes, I'm thinking about Deion Jones, in the 3rd if possible)

Or Dodd.. I like both. I just see Dodd as the more raw one with more upside. Either way I think Bosa is the best but I am okay trading back and getting Dodd or Lawson.

One cb I hope we aren't looking at is Apple. I think he's an absolute bust. When he plays off he seems clueless about what to do at the top of the route, when the wr makes the first break then Apple gets lost too often, he jumps when he should turn his hips too often. Burbridge absolutely worked him and exploited this weakness, I think he's gonna get destroyed in the NFL unless he is facing #2s on every snap and is always in press coverage. If we are hoping for a cb in the 2nd then I'm fine with that, as long as Apple isn't the guy. Alexander, fuller, wj3, I think all are far safer picks

Never saw anything to make me believe he was sound (Apple).

Agree 100%. Watched a lot of film on him and I just don't see the hype. He has size and speed but doesn't have the knowledge to utilize them right. Another CB I heard of is one out of Northwestern Nick Vanhoose. Watched a little film on him and he reminds me a little of Asante Samuel. Breaks on routes and jumps them better than anyone else in this draft class, and is a play maker.

Idk man. I don't see anything special but nothing too worrying either.

A guy I really like in the mid rounds is Kevin Peterson out of OKSTU. He could be a stud covering guys who aren't overly fast, he mirrors very well and plays tough and times his hands very consistently for good swats. His problem is size and top end speed but he is fluid and explosive and shifty and plays the ball well.

Same here lol, have no idea what to think of him. Thought of asking you since you're a better judge than I am, esp on CB, but I guess I'll put him on the "wait and see" list.

Okay, I'll give him a look

I would be interested to see if Cravens can play inside linebacker. I know that teams have tried him out at both spots before he stopped his private workouts. Looking at film I think he looks like Myles Jack in certain situations just not as freakishly athletic. And I agree we need another linebacker to throw into coverage more Daryl Smith and CJ Mosley both are good against the run and iffy in the passing game. Daryl is now gone I think now we need to find a guy that can go sideilne to sideline and stay aggressive and close on tight ends and running backs.

Well he is actually good against the run, but he can also get lost in that area. He revolves around his insane athleticism, so when he sees what's going on he can make an impact very quickly on the play. His main problem is his vision and football IQ, something he needs to work on by studying, watching films, etc... But overall he has all the tools to succeed both against the run and the pass (coverage/blitz).

Yea I've said before on here, that I like Sua Cravens he is a great athlete and if he can add ten pounds of muscle he will be perfectly fine I would love him in the second round

The one issue I have with this move even though in my head I personally like it is the idea of moving players out of position. It seems that is all we have been doing this last offseason and talking about it. I mean if a few of them work out great... Waller at tight end is very interesting for me to watch during the preseason. Webb to safety is good at least in Madden. I guess it all depends on how these hybrid players coming out adapt to the NFL.

I'm not sure where to put this since there is no factual backing for this, but what would people think about taking Hunter Henry in the second? He's got the surest hands in the draft (no drops last year) and does all his work in the middle of the field. He'd bring an excellent contrast to Maxx Williams since Watson won't be here for too long, Boyle keeps getting suspended, and Gillmore keeps getting injured.

I don't see it as likely, but he's one of those prospects where his game is hard to poke holes in.

Not another TE, please! And our 2nd seems dedicated to getting a CB

That said if what you said appears to be true and we don't have any reliable TE besides Maxx next year, we could go with OJ Howards from Bama, he's promising.

He'd make a nasty combo but too high for him there. I would take him with a low fourth (as an option) if my running back options fall through.

He's widely considered a possible late first rounder, early second, especially at a position that's severely lacking this year.

If I had the choice, I'd just wait until next year and grab Bucky Hodges, if he's available. He's a lot like Maxx in that he stretches the seam, but he's far more athletic, taller, and just a freak that's going to spend most of his time flexing out and playing the Pitta role.

I don't think cravens is a guy you give a full time dedicated position to. I think you CREATE a role for him and he becomes a big part of your defensive philosophy by doing so. We would do ourselves a lot of favors by taking cravens and properly using him. With the tes we face, he would be the most feared man in the division. The NFL obviously is moving to a more matchup and space oriented style of play, so having a guy who can cover more ground than a linebacker while still being respectable against the run and covers like a safety should is a great asset.

If the ravens took him in the 2nd, I think we need to scrap the 34 philosophy and go with a 3-3-3. We have our 3 down linemen, 2 edge defenders, Mosley in the middle, and cravens either up on the line to run with the TE or having him in shallow coverage always ready to blow up slants, drags, seams and screens. It takes a lot of pressure off of just about everyone on our defense. Neither weddle or Webb will be forced to cover TEs, Mosley will be able to play a more zone oriented or attacking role and we won't be asking him to run in stride with guys crossing the middle, less zone coverage for the slot corner which means less liability for the secondary across the board. Also we have 2 intelligent safeties who can get their hands on the ball, having a more freelancing role as a result of cravens means more turnovers, it eliminates a security blanket for the offense, and creates a constant threat making qbs hesitant to throw dumpoffs or quick throws to the middle.

I like cravens for this defense lol

I'd happily trade down to 8 or 9 and pick up Lawson, and then use the extra picks from that to trade up from our 2nd round pick with the Chiefs to grab someone like Spriggs.

What do y'all think of Bronson Kaufusi? I've seen him rated anywhere from round 6 to late round 2 lol.

Seems like he has the size you want to play 34 DE, but he doesn't really stand out as a special player in any regard.

/And I'm not asking because I want him at #6 lol, just didn't feel like making a new thread for Kaufusi

Probably going to get one more of these up before the draft. Safe to say most of you guys don't think Ramsey or Tunsil will be there for us at this point so they will be counted as being taken in this final version. I will leave the other 3 up to you guys though by getting a poll up here in the next couple days for you guys to vote on. You will be able to vote multiple times which is encouraged since the top 3 players in this poll will be taken off our board for this final version of the thread(so voting for 3 players that will not make our pick is strongly encouraged). Thinking of including the following as choices in the poll to cover a wide variety of options for teams picking ahead of us.

Wentz
Elliott
Hargreaves
Bosa
Jack
Buckner
Goff

Anyone else you think I should include in the poll?

You take the BPA. Always. I like Henry's game a lot and was considering taking him in the second of our game. You want the truth? Gillmore is overrated. He's a good TE, but will never be anything more. Maxx's ceiling is way higher. If you think he's another Gronkowski or Eifert you take him. He'd be a hell of a piece cause I think Maxx is another Jason Witten.
