[News] Justin Forsett 'Absolutely' Will Be With Ravens In 2016

Where is the video of John Harbaugh’s sit down at the combine with reporters? Would love to see the whole interview instead of 15 articles with bits and pieces of what he may have said.

Whose coming up with these player cut allegations? Why on Earth will we cut Forsett? Another productive guy. That wouldn't make any sense at all.

Well, conventional wisdom says that a 5-11 team isn't overly interested in retaining its entire roster from the prior season, because that wouldn't make much sense from a W/L perspective.

There will be plenty of cuts being made.

A 5-11 team doesnt usually have 2 FULL squads on IR(21).

Lets play a season with the current roster before we deem them 5-11 talent.

I get cuts will be made since it happens every year but some of the players they're naming doesn't make sense. I get K. Lewis, Canty, Eugene but D. Smith? Forsett? They are our starters that's been very productive. Outside of Eugene being injured more than he's on the field, he wouldn't be on the cut list either because he's played very well when he's healthy. I guess what I'm saying is make allegations that makes sense and not just because. Smith has been lights out since he's been here in Baltimore. Why on God's green earth would the Ravens cut him? Unless he's too expensive which doesn't seem to be the case. Forsett is another inexpensive player that we got off of a bargain. No need to cut him. Anything for a story I guess. No one said anything about Elam lol. He's been declining since his rookie year. Art Brown? And I like him but he can't grasp the playbook. I guess since their younger.

Depends on the replacement cost.  Forsett costs $3.7M and Allen costs like $700K... is Forsett $3M better than Buck Allen right now? Tough sell.

Daryl Smith costs $4.4M and Zach Orr costs $600K... is Daryl Smith $3.8M better than Orr? Tough sell.

The reason people are talking about cutting those guys over cutting guys like Elam or Art Brown is cost. Cutting Art Brown really doesn't save us much money... cutting Daryl Smith does. That's the difference.

We didn't have two full squads on IR when we started the year 1-6. That was with a pretty much fully healthy offense. And the defense itself was about as healthy as its been in years. Only key member of that defense missing was Suggs.

Cutting Forsett or D.Smith doesnl' make since as both are valuable, and the dead money cutting them just justify the savings in proven veterans....Buck has to show he can hang onto the ball, and have at least 10+ 20 yard gains like Forsett did....I think TF may be the odd man out, as West has both power and quickness....JMO....Team IMO is still to young to let go of solid veterans who play like Ravens, another year with their leadership is priceless....

Cap savings from releasing both = $4.925M

Dead money from releasing both = $3.15M

Dead money impact really isn't that significant, and also isn't that relevant in decision making, since its a sunk cost.

2 proven vets to save 4.9 mil is a pretty small price to pay for their productivity....Forsett is pretty cheap for a starting RB, and D.Smith is a tackling machine who makes plays....Would be crazy to think of releasing them, and Harbs from what he has said has no intention of cutting them lose....

Forsett yes. He's made no mention of Daryl Smith getting cut, and I think he will be.

If we have plans on resigning KO and Tucker, its going to take more than a Flacco extension and cutting 1-2 cheap guys to free up space.

Maybe just a gut feeling on my part, but something tells me that, again, a 5-11 team isn't just going to be content rolling the same team over and shrugging the season off due to injuries... especially when we were a pretty healthy team for about half the season.

We started the season without Perriman. You can downplay the significance of that because he's a rookie, but he's one of the fastest players in the league and our only speed on offense, on a team that desperately needed exactly that. The offense still played pretty well in the first 7 games, outside of the opener in Denver. On defense, we lost our best player, and our best corner was just a shell of himself because of his injury, so we were basically without our top 2 players on defense before Jimmy got in better shape.

Forsett should be our lead back unless of course the Ravens decide to draft either Elliott in the first or Henry in the second. He is the most experienced back we have with a lot of production to show for. Buck Allen can back him up this year and split carries with him. For our short yardage situation, Taliaferro, Richardson and the Towson kid can duke it out in TC for one of them to emerge.

Far too many assumptions for my liking. Suggs was certainly the biggest leader on the team, but he was far from our best defensive player. Jimmy was on the field all year, and for all we know the 2015 Jimmy is the future Jimmy, so you can't just discount the entire team by saying a few guys were playing hurt all year, because 100% of teams have those.

All of this is great, but the fact remains that a largely healthy Ravens team started 1-6 last year. That's not up for debate.
