[News] Ravens Offer Kelechi Osemele Aggressive Deal

70 posts in this topic

If you want some super-optimism here you go; maybe Joe and Oz have finalized a restructured contract on the precondition of Osemele re-signing with the Ravens giving Joe a solid O-line with K.O and Yanda for years to come.

That was my thought exactly.

When comparing other teams offers vs the Ravens contract offer keep in mind others will try to outbid but not necessarily offer all the other intangibles that make with being a part of the Ravens organization. IMHO the situation is as important as the dollars and cents. Either way K.O. your a beast do what you feel is best for you.

KO Jensen Urschel Yanda Wagner that is a fearsome OL.

We still have Zuttah at center he would probably start over urschel or Jensen

We still have Zuttah you know, who is an upgrade from Urschel. Urschel's versatility as a back up though, should suit us well.

If KO says yes, the Ravens will grab the paperwork and sprint to the NFL office to release Monroe. Even if KO chooses to test the waters in free agency, Monroe has poisoned the water in Baltimore and it is only a matter of time. For the Ravens to be so vocal on this it is clear they are sending a very clear message to Monroe, we paid you, you chose not to show up and cost us our star QB. In the Ravens eyes it appears there will be no forgiveness for Monroe. Monroe pulled a Cundiff by not producing when we needed him most and if you can't rely on someone, like we couldn't rely on Cundiff, like we can't rely on Monroe, then it is time to go.

Let's just hope K.O agrees to the deal as long as its fair and equitable. Knowing the way Ravens conduct business, they're not going to low ball him or any other player. So, I think the smart move on K.O's part is to take it right away and not shop for better offers, because that could hurt him in the long run. Either way, we're going to be fine as a team as long as Monroe is motivated to suit up and play even if he is dealing with some really trivial and minor injuries.

Its in his best interest to shop around and take the best offer. Im not sure why you think that could hurt him in any way.

agreed, If he shops around for the biggest deal we'll lose him. If he signs, it would be out of respect for the team that gave him the opportunity

Just look at the number of players that have taken the free agency route and chased a few additional dollars. Most of them have failed to get their next contract. What I meant was K.O knows the offense, his coaches and the players that play alongside him. Offensive line play needs time to gel. You can't just suit up one day and become successful in a whole new system.

Best news I have heard on this site in a long time.

This also has huge draft implications. Stanley might be off the table.

This could really backfire on us, I hope it's the right move. I'm not sold on KO at LT he got beat to the edge a few times last season

I think K.O. is better at guard so why change that? I would try to find another replacement at LT if Monroe is gone.

KO played tackle in college, and actually looked better playing tackle the last 4 games. He gives you something that is rare at the LT position. The true physicality of a guard, but the feet of a LT. Ozzie and Co. would not have offered him LT money if they didn't like what they saw.

@jravens13 maybe you right l've seen him most mostly at guard. He did play LT in college so he knows how to play it. But l hope it isn't shaking that he mostly played guard in his NFL career that he's average at LT just like Oher was good at RT but average at LT.

I agree, I am really starting to question the Ravens decision making lately (but what do I know). We have Monroe at left tack and he plays well when healthy which isn't very often, but we have to keep our fingers crossed because he only saves us 2 mill against the cap if released and he can't be replaced for two million. Osemele is great at guard and that is where he should stay, and if we need him to fill in for tackle great. Also, some of these talks and signing really have me wondering. So we are going to let Monroe go for only 2 mil savings? We just signed Trent Richardson (kinda a joke). And I can't believe we were going to give Torrey Smith 7 mil a year, thank god San Fran offered him more. I don't know, I just feel extremely pessimistic about our future, which is not in my nature, I am usually extremely optimistic when it come to the Ravens.

Hopefully KO doesn't get too greedy.

That would be nice but keep in mind that this is his first crack at free agency.  Many heads get turned by big money and a lot of teams have mega-bucks to throw out there.
