[News] What Are Ravens Looking For In A Pass Rusher?

16 posts in this topic

So Garrett, who are the ones most adept at closing? What does Hortiz think of the names you listed? That’s kind of important don’t you think? We all know these names and their college production, but what we don’t know is what Hortiz and our front office thinks of each one of them…

I found your comment pretty humorous because I thought the same thing. We already know this stuff, we're interested in what the scouts think, such as the information we lack access to--i.e., work ethic, character, etc.

Side comment, just for the record, if Spence were to fall out of top 15 and we already picked a Myles Jack or Buckner, I pray Ozzie sees the massive upside in sacrificing a pick or two to grab Spence too, unlikely as it might be.

Hortiz isn't going to tip his hand. If he does say anything about a prospect it will a be run of the mill type answer (more generalization than specifics).

If Ramsey DB is gone, who is being compared to both Chuck Woodson, and Rod Woodson first ballot hofrs..as a swiss army knife defensive back who is shutdown corner or ball hawk free safety. Or if Bosa the prospect who may be the next JJ Watt, is regarded as best rusher in draft.
If they are both gone..

I wouldnt mind Oz taking Spence who is being compared to Von Miller with his oustanding speed on the edge,

What happens if we select DeForest Buckner? Do teams try to copy our formula next year, after we win the Super bowl?
How great will it be if we have a huge pass rushing ,pocket collapsing, over powering middle D-line?
In 2000, we had the Goose and Sam Adams and it worked pretty well.
Pick up Vernon MIA (Michael McCrary)and Hali K.C. (Boulware) and what will we have?

I still don't really view Bosa as an edge. Convinced that he's more of a 5 technique end- and a darn good one.

one pass rusher i really really like that no one is talking about is kevin dodd. i would take bucknor at 6 and then move back into the first to get dodd if possible. i dont care much for bosa.

The Ravens "ALWAYS" come through in this dept. Look at the Buckeyes John Simon got away but the D Line is on "FLEEK"! Wanna see some Buckeyes on my Squad instead of with the squeelers and bungles!

I like Shaq Lawson.... I like Bosa (but I would rather see us take Ramsey if all are available)....I like Noah Spence and Oakman if they are there in round 2... but an edge pass rusher that I really like in the later rounds is (Travis Feeney-OLB-WASH)...Feeney would be a first rounder and has a freakish skillset. He has had some injuries that has limited play time and will cause him to drop but this is a kid that has all the tools to have been a first round pick and maybe even a top ten pick and we will be able to land him in rounds 3-5

Well, in the past Hortiz hasn't been shy in being pretty detailed about prospects and also before the draft if I remember...

Bosa next JJ Watt? Hell of a reach. But you never know.

I'm not sold on Lawson as possibly being a premier pass rusher at all. I think he'll be a good player, but there should be much better options at 6 imo. I would love Bosa, Buckner or Spence.

You're kidding right? We couldn't afford either one
