Dream Scenario

12 posts in this topic

Hi everyone, first time poster. I was just thinking about a scenario I'd feel could work very well with this defense. With Chris Long recently being released by the Rams, is there any chance we could sign him, draft Myles Jack, and switch to a 4-3 defense?

No way  we are switching defenses. We would have to have our Dline get way more pressure on the QB to make it a thought. Plus we don't have the cap.

The arguments are invalid, but as it stands there is actually no way we change the scheme, because we've keeping Pees and the key Word this offseason is stability.

The cap point is a valid one, actually.

I'm in the "never say never" camp.   I know everyone says we're keeping Pees.  But Frazier is a little over-qualified for the job he took here.  I think the writing is on the wall for Pees.  If a clear 4-3 talent falls to us at #6 (Bosa, Jack), I could see us gradually shifting from a 3-4 to a hybrid and then to a 4-3 in a few years.   The money isn't there now, but we'll be rebuilding the defense in a year or two anyway.  When it comes time to replace Suggs, Canty, Dumerville, Smith, Smith, and Webb, who's to say we have to spend that money on 3-4 guys?

But I wouldn't expect it for next year; we're more than just two people away.

Also linebacker is our strength... They are aging but it is still our strength. I don't see us switching to a 4-3 when Mosley, Smith, Dumervil, and Suggs have been the strength of our defense.

I cant see it happening.  Too much invested and as long as Pees is still here they wont change anything.

I think Pee's would do well coaching 4-3.

Only reason we developed into the 3-4 was because of the defensive minds we had on our coaching staff relying heavily on our LB's in blitz packages

My dream scenario;

     1. trade back if given the chance

     2. Spence,  eli apple, tyler boyd and jaylon smith, darian thompson,

that order, 1.1,2,2,2

no more draft picks. before everybody go crazy this is MY(mine) dream scenario

in MYYYYY dream scenario

of course there is a trade with with the  "RAMS" would help,

and it would only be 2 2nd round picks not 3 which means

decision; nope  I forfeit Darian Thompson,

I still don't understand. Let's assume we trade with the Rams, we have their first and three 2nds. OK. But then how do you get an extra 1st round pick?
