Did you watch him vs Miss St? That might be the most dominant performance I have ever seen from a DT. I agree that he has some issues, but his raw talent is off the charts. I've cooled off on him a bit because he could very well be a head case. Talent wise, I think he is a top 5 guy in this draft.

Pretty much agree with all of this except I will take it a step further in that he is the most talented player in the draft.

I don't disagree. When he is engaged, it's hard not to just shake your head and say "wow". I was taking down notes and I think I wrote the word "explosive" about 10 times in one cut-up.

we don't need interior defensive lineman were stacked at that position. DT/DE Buckner is only exception.

I completely disagree. We need someone who can be a pass-rushing presence from the interior. Jernigan is really the only semi-consistent pass-rusher we have in that sense.

Jernigan is good. Potential to be great. Brandon williams anchors the middle of the line. The first two picks to need to be towards pass rush off the edge and secondary.

Pass rush from the interior is just as disruptive if not more-so than off the edge. Williams is not a pass-rusher, and he will be a FA. Carl Davis is still an unknown quantity.

I like Buckner more but don't see the Ravens passing on Bosa

Its possible, they may not see him as the same freak as Suggs was when he came out, speed-wise. He will push the line back and control the run but with the power to just collapse a line from the inside with a possible comination of Timmy, Buckner, and Williams? not to mention Urban and Davis waiting depth-wise. That could be a more talented front then Bosa in the lineup.

To be fair, pass rushing for 34 linemen is a luxury. They are mainly there to eat blocks for linebackers and clean up the run

Its also significantly less consistent for even the best players (watt excluded) due to high traffic preventing it

Ravens really need youth on defense. Suggs and dumervil are probably part time players now.

depth at corner is probably the biggest overall need

True but we switch to a 4 man front in nickel and another pass rusher on the interior could do a lot of good

Yeah people make a big deal about Ware and Miller but guys like Malik Jackson and Derek Wolfe(who had a really nice playoff run for himself) played a large part in that pass rush. That entire defensive line was something else

The vast majority of pass-rush snaps come from a 4 man front. Interior pass-rush is very important no matter what the base D alignment is. This lack of interior rushers is why guys like Pernell McPhee and Upshaw/ZDS have been moved inside on passing downs. McPhee excelled in that role, Upshaw/ZDS not so much.

To touch of Nkemdiche, I agree.  He can be inconsistent, but when he's on, he's one of the better prospects I've seen in a long time.  His ability to knife through those gaps is insane.

Mcphee had the body type for it. They didnt.

Also youre taking what i said out of context and you know it. Yes interior disruption is an asset, but that is not a 34 linemens job in the scheme

34 defenses that have good interior rushers do tend to do better. Like the Cardinal's defense.

I keep saying that!! Ravens should trade down and draft Spence. Then trade back into round1 and whatever it takes to draft nkemdiche!! He is the best player in the draft. Buckner is not in the same league!! Spence and Nkemdiche would change the ravens defense from soft to awesome!!

Both have bad histories. Especially Nkemdiche and his college production doesn't match up with his physical traits either. That is the only reason he's dropped so much in this draft. I say if you're going to trade back into the first, given that you've already selected Noah Spence, I would say go with a high character prospect on defense instead. Lot of DT talent still available.

Yeah but dude(no disrespect) it is always about finding "THE" player not a player. in this case "THE DOMINANT PENETRATING DT" not "A" defensive tackle. In my opinion that is the ravens biggest problem lately. Drafting for need and being content with thinking like we can get "A" receiver or whatever in round2 or late round1 or whatever. character will not create talent. However Harbs can build character in talent. And Harbs is a master motivator!! Perhaps the best in the NFL. Give Harbs some explosive talent to work with for a change and let him do his job. There are many defensive tackles but many are one dimensional. Billings and Robinson are run stuffers without much twitch for scaring QBs early and often.  This draft is very shallow at many positions and defensive players who excel at getting to the QB will come off the board very fast. Nkemdiche is the prize at the position. Many of the nfls best sack producers were not double digits in college but showed the skill. Ravens will not get an opportunity to obtain a player with this amount of of skill very often. He really loves football and will learn the science. And Harbs can motivate better than anybody. Nkemdiche's so called character flaws will allow the ravens to snatch him up. Ravens have opportunity to fix a bland rush in one draft with Spence and Nkemdiche.

I willing to bet that Rex Ryan takes Nkem, forgot to mention that to you in our PMs.  I honestly don't see him attainable for us unless we take him at 6

If you're saying that a 3-4 defensive lineman should not be getting pressure in the 3-4, I'd have to disagree since there is something called the one gap scheme and it tends to lend itself to pass rushing lineman, like Sylvester Williams.

But I'd disagree even more since a team is in their base 3-4 probably less than 50% of the time and using a four man alignment over 50% of the time, so they're gonna need those interior rushers, anyway.

The defensive line is the best draft class in years. If we don't take one in the first one will fall to the Ravens in the 2nd or 3rd round. Still hoping we take Buckner or Bosa and the Browns to take a QB so a player drops to 6.

Once again that mentality is the reason the ravens are in bad shape at many of positions. With more needs than ever since first coming to Baltimore. Not being agressive. Grabbing whoever falls and letting rival teams decide who is left for the ravens to draft!! Same deal in free agency. Waiting for things to shake out and looking for scraps of whats left. It is cool for patchwork but bot building a superbowl team. You can not wait for the dirt to settle. Especially now since cheap teams are now required to spend  money, useless players is what you are going to be left with!! I do not get how anybody could of reserved hopes for Arrington. A player that could only do one thing in a specific system!! Patsie fans were happy to see him go cuz he was terrible at most roles.  It is a big league and the right player to throw money at is not always already on your team.

The more I think about it, the more I like bosa for us. We need an olb badly but DE is also a very underrated need that Will likely become a huge need if not addressed soon, bosa fills both slots and brings us something invaluable, a defender who never leaves the field, that's just a huge thing for me, rotating the front seven is nice but having a key fixture who teams refuse to run near regardless of his position on that snap, a guy who can bring pressure from the interior as a 34DE or 43DT, but also can bring it from the edge as an OLB or traditional DE is just a very appealing thing. He may not be an OLB in a perfect sense, but he fills our biggest need, which is a all around dominant defender in the front seven who brings a strong edge rush.

If he makes it past san diego The cowboys will swipe him Just to piss us off. For Some reason i Can clearly see him in dallas. We knowthey should take wentz- but Jerrys Way too hardheaded. and who knows, cleveland Could still Throw a wrench in things by not Going qb..hugh Jacksons a smart guy And doesnt Make rash decisions..he may see more value taking a blue chip player and getting A qb in the latter Rounds Since there are several decent options this year.

This is the way that I feel about Kevin Dodd. He won't be in play at sixth overall, obviously, but there's a chance, even if it's small, that he's there in the second. I think Dodd brings very similar ability to be a 5T in the 3-4 or OLB.
